Utterly rubbish
Utterly rubbish. No customer support = no customer respect. After 90 days of owning whatever Netgear item you purchased you are not eligible for support. My expensive extender stopped working after a yr and that's that. Spending my £ elsewhere.
Service scam
Re Case No. 43553943. I recently purchased a EX7500 Netgear wifi extender. Upon installation, I was having repeated connection cut outs. Having called Netgear help - after half an hour the technician advised me that the "only thing to do was to ask the ISP to clear the lines or pay Netgear to do it for $150 for a six month service contract". In fact the actual network stack reset they proposed is a 2 minute fix with lots of websites explaining how. Search for; resetting-network-devices-and-network-stack/
Support Terrible, Hardware Terrible Do Not Buy
Guys today support was terrible. Articles are out of date for Mac. One of their firmware updates completely disabled my Nighthawk WiFi extender and now its useless. TFTP'ing into a Mac is only possible via terminal. The TFTP process they advocate does not work and is out of date too. 1 hour wasted on support. and now you want me to pay for support when the guidance is out of date 10.15.6 on Mac
NETGEAR Support Case #43511614
article is out of date
kb.netgear.com 000059633 How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-TFTP-client
Firstly your firmware updates cause an issue. Then docs are not correct. Then I can’t get suitable support. I have to find applications on the internet in order to fix an issue that Netgear caused.
Why doesn’t your reset also reset firmware this would remove this issue
now the device does not appear on my network to try and fix the firmware myself
Bottom line I will never buy Netgear again
Latest: No support without paying even though articles don't work or cannot be followed because they are out of date. No response on their FB Page and Messenger.
I ordered a Netgear ex2700 from eBay…
I ordered a Netgear ex2700 from eBay and found the instructions misleading and vague. I got the thing working for about 10 mins then it lost the re transmit signal lamp. After a couple of hours I went to what I thought was nextgears website and got talking to a chat girl called Stella. She said can I have your phone number in case the link went down. Almost Instantaniously I was called by an American with a painfully slow talk and didn't know the phonetics, alpha bravo etc. Anyway he said my WiFi extender was an old model and would need a software update. Then he asked for my email to download a link to send the up date software, and then said he couldn't send the email and THEN the penny dropped, he said I may have a virus what is intercepting my emails. At that point, I realised it was a scam. Maybe not netgears fault but there is lots of evidence that there wifi extender is difficult to set up. There are also lots of similar looking Netgear websites but I did notice the web address had an extra f in the address, was wiffiext instead of wifiext.
I just don't feel like talking to anyone from Netgear now after that experience.
I am returning the box.
I have stupidly given my email and phone number to these scammers.
Why can't broadband providers/regulators increase their router power so that one doesn't need wifi extenders.
NETGEAR......NEVER AGAIN
I have for the past 10 weeks or more been in a one way battle with Netgear support.
I bought the AX12 Wi-Fi 6 router (RAX200)- AX11000 Tri-Band on the 10th May, delivered 13th. Around early July I started having trouble but put it down to other things simply because the router was new. I kept losing the connection to my TV, Amazon Prime Cube, CCTV cameras (I have 8) and that dreaded word "Alexa" as all my lights amongst other things are that word controlled.
I at last tracked the trouble down to the 2.4 GHZ on the router because it kept dropping out. Since the 27th July, (so that makes the router 10 weeks old) I have had 10 different support case numbers assigned to my router problem. I was promised a refund as the factory was closed and not making any because of the coronavirus and were out of stock.
I was also promised an “RMA” which is Netgears’ return process on the 27th July but as of today 30th August NOTHING. I have spent over 15 hours on the telephone with their support staff and every single time you tell the first one, too technical for her so she puts you onto a “Tech 1 Person” you tell them and they put you onto a “Tech 2 person” and then you tell them all over again and they put you onto a “Tech 3 person” so on and so on and each time you have to hang on for 30 or more minutes for the next one to answer.
Today the 30th August I spoke again to their support unit and was told that I had to send the unit back first and have it checked and so I replied but you still haven’t told me where to send it and I said no, I want a refund as promised because you are out of stock and the factory closed…..She said that was “UNTRUE” so I asked why I was told that and she couldn't answer. She sent me an "RMA" while I was on the phone and told to check my e-mail. I was told by a person "M P" they were out of stock.
I insisted that I wanted a refund or a replacement first because I could no longer trust what I was being told to the reply “you can trust me” I again said no I can't, I trusted MP and where did that get me? to which I was told no refund or replacement until I sent back first…..I told her I would see them in court and that would mean solicitors fees, court fees, my refund and I would request compensation and put the phone down.
In desperation, on the 24th August I sent an e-mail explaining everything to Netgears’ Sales: Media Inquiries: Investor Relations:
NOTHING FROM ANY OF THEM NOT EVEN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
I will also send a copy of this review to them as well.
After reading this it is now up-to-you if you still want to chance buying anything from NETGEAR.
I bought an Orbi system from them 10…
I bought an Orbi system from them 10 months ago. The "support" is laughable. They refuse to do anything unless I pay for the repairs
Bought Orbi20 Mesh WiFi
Bought Orbi20 Mesh WiFi, followed the instructions on their app from my mobile. But for some reason it just wouldn't work. I tried getting some online help from Netgear. Which sadly is designed for Tech nerds but if you are in your 60's its a waste of time.
Got frustrated and gave up. The product might be good but the companies support in dismal beyond belief, unless you pay them.
Awful...
Purchased a NightHawk router after contacting Netgear to check it would be the right item for my needs.
It doesn't work as expected. Contacted support. Spent an hour trying to resolve only to be told it was faulty and needed to be returned. Returned it to Amazon and got a replacement with exactly the same issues.
Called support again. Kept on hold for most of an hour while they contacted 2nd line support only to tell me this network extender wasn't compatible. I got a little irate and stressed that I'd already been told that it WAS compatible.
Further time on hold and then I'm told it is compatible. Taken through steps to install it and it still doesn't work.
Asked to speak to 2nd line support. Told they'd call within 8 hours. Two days later nothing.
This company are THE WORST at supporting their products. I'll never buy Netgear again. Utterly abysmal
I recently purchased a new Orbi router…
I recently purchased a new Orbi router RBS850 with satellite. After several days of trying to get the router to connect to the satellite I try technical support. 2 hours of telephone technical support and the conclusion is to 'send it back to the supplier'.
Surely testing the equipment before it leaves the factory would have saved both me and them an extraordinary amount of time, cost and frustration.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Stay well clear. Buy TP-Link (or indeed any other product) instead. Used to be a big fan of Netgear, but now they just take your money (for supposedly high quality, expensive, products), and then try to charge you $100 to 'fix' those problems.Rip off merchants.
Disgusted with Netgear tech support
Disgusted with Netgear tech support. After 11 months our router developed a fault. As a Network admin I'm more than capable of troubleshooting faults and after performing tests found the fault to be with the router and unresolvable through the software interface.
I contacted Netgear to claim against the 1 year hardware warranty and ask for a return. However I was told on the phone that as 'the lights were stll on on my router' I must go through a troubleshooting process with them to verify if it is a software issue. The kicker is this: As the 90 day telephone tech support process had expired they exected me to PAY them for extended support in order to confirm what i already know, and flat out refused to honour the hardware warranty until I do so. They are effectively holding me to ransom for troubleshooting support I nether need or want. I'm done with Netgear. I'll not be purchasing any of their products again and I'll be sure to let anyone I know about their underhanded and plain shady practices.

its been 9 weeks since I am awaiting a replacement for a router, talk to customer services and supervisor all they say wait 24 hours!
I cant ran a business without a router...
