Trust me paying this monthly maybe hard from the budget but benefits sounds interesting and good.

I took out income protection with…
I took out income protection with National Friendly in Feb 2025. During the application call I clearly told the representative about COVID‑related absence, mild back pain, and brief anxiety symptoms — but these were recorded as ‘No’. When I later claimed, the policy was cancelled and the claim refused on grounds of non‑disclosure.
I initially accepted the Ombudsman’s decision in error, due to misunderstanding and medication‑related confusion, and withdrew acceptance the next day before the deadline — yet this was not recognised. I am still waiting for the application call recording I requested under GDPR, which is key to showing what was actually said.
While premiums and a small inconvenience payment have been offered, I believe the issue here is accurate recording of what a customer states. I am now considering taking the matter to Small Claims Court to clarify what was said during the call.

After speaking to Duncan Reeves…
After speaking to Duncan Reeves regarding my policy, I found him very easy to talk too. He was very courteous and professional, offering me further advice and help.

Dislocated left shoulder/ broken upper arm.
After submitting my claim with relevant information and documents it took 3 and half to 4 weeks for my first payment to come through after they claim to pay out after 2.
After a few emails and calls I was asked for further proof of my fractured/broken upper arm, if a doctor's signed certificate wasn't enough. I had to go back to my GP and ask for a letter out lining that I DID have a fractured/broken upper arm after falling from height and dislocating my shoulder as well.
Further more National Friendly's communication skills are questionable due to not knowing when payments were gonna be paid out...
Not a happy customer....
