Love Mob! Great recipes, many that are just fun to make and try out. I also had to work with their Customer Experience team, which was a breeze. An all-around great experience.

Scam- impossible to cancel

Misleading free plan impossible to cancel

They rope you in with a free plan, but getting out of it is extremely difficult. My account showed I was on the free plan, yet I continued to be charged.

This is a cooking app, and many of the recipes didn’t appeal to me. For the ones I did like, the comments often said the recipes were inaccurate or didn’t produce the expected results. So I canceled within a week or so I thought as they kept charging me.

After weeks of back-and-forth emails with support that went nowhere and felt like they are just dragging the process out, I still couldn’t get out of subscription or get a refund. Log in process created an apple email account in the background which I was unaware of and even after I figured it out, they didn’t want to cancel from their end and on my end it was showing free plan.

I eventually had to dispute the charges with my bank and cancel my card just to stop these payments.

Overall, the experience was confusing and frustrating and felt like a scam as they know their product isn’t good. I would avoid.

If you start a free trial with us we let you know that your account will renew to a paid plan at the end of the trail period, unless you cancel before the end of the trial.

If you use Apple sign-in to sign up then this may create a forwarding email address for you if you have 'hide my email' turned on in your settings. If this happens then you'll just need to use Apple sign-in going forward to access your account.

Better than the alternative apps

I’ve tried several free and paid cooking apps and this is my favourite so far. Some standard features like creating a menu plan, and producing a shopping list work well, add on easy changes to how many you are cooking for and keeping the recipe on screen while cooking. The pieces I particularly rate are the suggestions of other recipes that use similar ingredients to reduce waste, the good cooking instructions which include the ingredient measurements- you’d be amazed how many apps you have to toggle between pages. Also have a great selection of recipes to help you meet your nutrition goals.

Great app

I really love the app, the only thing I would add is, if there is a video of the recept (like the ones on insta) i would really like to have that too in the app! Makes it easy to follow

This app will revolutionise the way we…

This app will revolutionise the way we look at recipes. It is so convenient with the inbuilt shopping list that correlates to the recipes you have selected with the option to add your own stuff like loo rolls etc is fabulous. I think they have more to come, there are some teething problems but they are quick to resolve. Would love an option where meat dishes have a “make veggie by…” as the veggie dishes are becoming a bit samey but the meals made are great. Definitely an app of convenience!

Unable to cancel subscription renewal

I thought the recipes on the app looked nice enough so I subscribed for a year. In reality, I didn't use it so I decided not to renew my subscription. This is when I had problems, because they set it up so you can't actually cancel it on the app or their website. It also didn't show on the App Store. The “continue” button on their website does nothing, so you are forced into long-winded chat exchanges. Despite my contacting them, they took so long to cancel it that they still renewed it, took my money, and I now have to wait for a refund. I'm sure it's illegal for you to be prevented from cancelling a subscription. I sensed that the customer service person on the chat might get paid for retaining the renewal. They knew in plenty of time that I didn't want it, but did it anyway. I would never subscribe to that app again.

I'm confident that this process is currently and has previously been working as expected, so if you were unable to process your cancellation online it might be because payment had already been taken and your subscription was in the process of renewing (this usually takes ~1 day to clear and update).

It sounds like you've been able to get in touch with our team and they have processed a refund for you which usually arrives quickly but do reach back out if you have any more questions.

AVOID - charged for renewal with no notification and won’t refund

If I could give them no stars based on customer service, I would

Recipes look nice. I’ve got one of the books and had made a few. Made a couple from the app when I first joined. Everything changed. I believed I had unsubscribed and also then deleted the app after that - about 6 months ago.

Then, in found I’ve been billed last month when I got my credit card statement.

I contacted them to ask and also advised that I had made contact in summer and had deleted the app and not logged in in several months. I’d not had any notification of a charge for renewal, but my account charged. Will post the responses as below… but APPARENTLY they don’t need to notify me they are charging my card and won’t refund as after 14’day cooling off period. Feels like a total scam as I wasn’t even away until it was too late !

Now, I’ll have no way of knowing until I see if they do it again next year… I’ll be contacting my bank in the morning.

It’s just wrong to treat people like this

I did not receive a renewal to know It was going to renew or I would have contacted you earlier to make sure I had cancelled again.

I deleted the app months ago and also have not logged on in months.

Well – that’s pretty poor… not advising you are charging people’s cards.. especially when I was in the belief I was cancelled.

Can you assure me in writing that this account has been DELETED off your system and there will be no further charges please

I had no idea until after your time as had to wait on a card statement

As per our terms, we are only able to provide a refund of your annual payment if you have not accessed or downloaded Mob content since your renewal and you request this within 14 days of the payment being made. This is in compliance with UK consumer law and in order to be fair to all of our customers, we are not able to make exceptions on a case by case basis.

We inform all of our customers at the point of purchase that they are entering into a subscription service that renews on an annual basis after the initial term. As per current UK consumer law, this information is sufficient and we are not required to send additional information about the subscription renewing at the point of renewal. I appreciate that the response you received did not explain this fully and I have fed this back to Jess.

Awful customer service, terrible site

Paid for a Mob subscription for several years. There isn't enough time to list all the things wrong with this company. My biggest grievance is, however, that, having paid for several years and finally having given up on them I can't access any of the recipes I paid for. This is despite having in writing from Customer Service that I would be able to. I have no access to any saved recipes at all - even the ones that were supposedly free.

Also, while I was still paying for the service the promised emails dried up many months ago and the website was always breaking down. Absolute rubbish.

If you cancel your subscription then this will stop your access to Mob Premium at the end of the current term - you don't retain any access to Mob Premium after your subscription has ended, including saved recipes. I'd like to look into the emails you were sent to ensure that the information you received is correct, so please reach out to us at help@mob.co.uk so that we can investigate.

I'm not sure what you mean by promised emails, your subscription includes access to thousands of recipes across our website and app, the ability to build out meal plans for the week and have a shopping list generated for you based on those meals and the portion sizes you selected and loads more features.

I hope you'll give us another chance in the future.

Hey 5 stars but I honestly haven't had…

Hey 5 stars but I honestly haven't had the chance to use the app. I'm here for a recommendation, I have ADHD and i have streaks of days where i just eat out, even if its my last dollar because of dysregulation even though i have ingredients in the house. If you guys had a service where you could help people get started with the app, since there's a lot of options too, and just show them how easy it is to be in this, how its just a few ingredients that you need to add to what you have, I feel like it'd put customers like me who invest because they're trying their best, but also are still stuck, I think that could be worth seeing if it'd be worth it! Cheers

A must have if you feel stuck

I've been using Mob for a while now and I'm very happy with it. I literally can't stop recommend it to all my friends. Recipes are delicious and definitely not boring (finally) I love that I can adjust servings and quantities at the same time, and that I can research by ingredients. Usually I'm not a fan of this kind of subscriptions but this one changed my mind. Love it

Highly recommend.

Love Mob. I started using it a while ago and the meal prep recipes are a game changer. Fresh, refreshing ingredients, super tasty, and it’s been a real upgrade for my healthy Daili lunches. Highly recommend.

Food and recipes are 4/5 stars. Horrendous charges and over charging is 0 stars. Unforntaley same as with most companies, they offer some decent free content, entice you in with reasonable monthly subscriptions but then hammer you with charges, MOB can go swivel

Min is fab

I have had Mob for a week and I love it. I pick recipes for the week it’s gives you a shopping list of which you can tick off what ingredient you already have. Sainsbury online to get all that I need and I was surprised by how cheap my shop was. Tasty high protein food easy to follow.

Charged full price DURING free trial and not the only one!!!!!!!

Have been charged full premium annual subscription in spite of cancelling within the free trial period by well over suggested time. Seeing other comments of similar experiences on here I wonder how intentional this is as a money maker at the start of the year. Currently trying to get a refund without having to involve my bank but fear I will have to. So disappointed in them.

Poor customer service

Poor customer service. Signed up for a trial, and turned out I was charged for a full year's subscription. Contacted them straight away for a refund and have yet to hear anything back.

Don't forget to cancel!

I paid for subscription not realizing that it will auto-renew. I did not find it useful, stopped using it and forgot all about it, but Mob was keeping quiet and taking my money and did not give me refund when I cancelled. I did not expect this from a decent company. So, beware and keep alert

DO NOT engage with free trial!!!

Horrible customer service!

I canceled my free trial within the allowed timeframe, yet MOB still charged me for a full year subscription. This charge is completely unjustified.

I have contacted customer support multiple times via email, but I have received no response for over four days. This lack of communication is unacceptable.

Based on my experience - and seeing that many other users report the same issue - I strongly advise staying away from this service.

Charged for a full year when doing a free trail!

I started a 7 day free trial but it immediately charged me for the year! i have sent several emails and one automated response advising me that they were busy, not heard anything since even after further email sent. Shocking customer service and bad that they just take money on a "free trial" will not be using again, steer clear of this company if you want to do a free trial.
