Two months without backup. Known bug. No fix. No compensation.
I have been a MEGA Pro I subscriber for almost two years and genuinely recommended this service to everyone around me. That changes now.
I rely on MEGA primarily for real-time PC backup with versioning, the main reason I chose it over competitors. Two months ago, after reinstalling Windows and flashing my BIOS, the backup stopped working entirely. Every folder throws an error and directs me to contact support.
This is actually the second time I have encountered a backend issue with how MEGA handles device identity. Over six months ago, my PC was permanently listed under my motherboard name (ASUSTeK) regardless of what I renamed it to, and a ghost device entry remained visible in my device list for months before quietly disappearing - without any confirmation it was actually deleted.
This time, support had me submit diagnostic logs, record videos, provide filesystem details, and send screenshots across multiple exchanges. After all of that, they confirmed it is a bug on their end and said it would be fixed in version 6.2.0. Version 6.2.1 has since been released. No fix.
Two months of paying for a service I cannot use. No ETA. No real solution offered. If data backup reliability matters to you, look carefully at the alternatives before committing here.

Tech support is not friendly
I had a problem with Transfer.it. I wrote a question to the technical support several times, but they never answered me. Only when I wrote here did they answer me. And in everything else, the service is MEGA great.

In order to delete, Transfers must be managed directly from Transfer.it, not from MEGA:
• Go to https://transfer.it/start
• Log in with your MEGA credentials.
• Click on "Transfers" at the top of the page.
• Click the three dots next to the transfer you want to manage.
• Select "Delete transfer".
Deleting a transfer immediately removes access for all recipients.
By default, transfers expire after 90 days, but you can set a different expiry date in the transfer settings.
If you would like us to review the situation further, please feel free to contact our support team directly, and we will be happy to assist.
Practical and user-frendly cloud service for work and personal files
I have been using Mega since 2018 and overall I am very satisfied with this cloud storage service. It is especially convenient for storing large files and working with them smoothly without unnecessary complications Compared to most well-known services, it offers a clearer interface, easier access to data, and simple file sharing between users. The pricing looks quite reasonable, while the available cloud storage space is noticeably larger than many alternatives, and MegaAsync really helps save time when accessing, uploading, and downloading files. The only small downside is that informational pop-up reminders and warnings appear quite often, but at the same time it feels like the service really cares about users and the security of their accounts.

Files of several GBs are FROZEN!
For 3 weeks now, files that are over 3-4GB are being "FROZEN" when we try to download them!
I have reported this 2 TIMES in the Customer Support and they do nothing! And of course we have Windows 10 with latest Chrome version.
The platform is UNUSABLE now until you fix that bug!

Mega.nz support staff is the best
Mega.nz, is the best place to store your important files and also is very safe, secured and reliable. Mega was very helpful with me when I had an issue with forgetting my password and I was having so much trouble finding it. I emailed Mega support staff and they responded fast with professionalism , knowledge and supportive. They were able to assist me and I was able to login back into my account saving me from having to start a new account and risk losing all my important files, very grateful and appreciative of their services and products they offer.

To ensure smooth and reliable service for all users, MEGA applies a transfer limit to prevent infrastructure overload.
The transfer quota is the total volume of data you can download from MEGA, and it is also consumed when streaming.
You can view your current transfer quota usage by accessing this link https://mega.nz/fm/dashboard using your PC browser.
For free accounts, the transfer quota is measured per IP address, not per user account.
Free accounts are provided with a transfer quota (download capacity) that varies depending on our system utilization. It is provided based on the total amount of data transferred during the last six hours but depends on the time of day, ISP, country etc.
If you have a dynamic IP address assigned by your ISP or you are using a VPN and received a "Transfer quota exceeded" warning without downloading anything from MEGA, that means others sharing the same IP may have used up the quota before you.
Once the free transfer quota is exceeded on your IP, you will have to wait to accrue more free quota.
Alternatively, you can upgrade to a Pro account which provides extra storage and transfer quota as well as some exclusive advanced features: https://mega.nz/pro
For Pro accounts, the transfer quota is the amount of data each user will be able to download (i.e. 3 TB of data during one month) and it is measured per user account, not per IP address.
Pro users get one allocation of their entire transfer quota per billing period, so annual Pro accounts will get one year's worth all at once.
If the quota is not entirely used in one month or year (depending on the term chosen), the remaining quota expires.
As a Pro account user, you are able to grant a percentage of your transfer quota to anyone downloading from your public file/folder links (this includes FREE users and non-registered users).

Once you have used up all of your Pro account's transfer quota allocation, you will have to purchase another plan.

To be honest
To be honest, the previous version of the app was well designed, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Everything was clear and worked efficiently. Unfortunately, the new design feels like a major step backwards.
The current interface is extremely difficult to use. It is confusing, unfriendly, and unnecessarily complicated compared to the previous layout. Simple actions that used to be quick and straightforward now require more steps, and the overall navigation feels frustrating and poorly thought out.
It is difficult to understand why a design that worked so well was replaced with something that feels far less practical. At the moment, the new interface makes the app significantly less usable and much more annoying to work with on a daily basis.
