First class service throughout - I didn't think anyone could get my money back but these guys did can't thank them enough

A bit poor really. They did attend my debtor but once any complexity was involved interest disappeared.

Seen this firm getting some stick so I thought someone should be honest about it. Getting money from people who don't want to pay is never going to easy or quick but they did what they said they would. I got updates and prompt payments as per our agreement and my debt was settled in full with a decent amount of negotiation and legwork from the team. If you're willing to be patient, and work with them then you won't go far wrong with Mcvicar for results.

THEY PROMISE EVERYTHING,GET YOUR FEE,THEN NO COMUNICATION THAT THEY PROMISE. YOU CAN NEVER GET A REPLY .

I echo what Elizabeth has written here. I paid the upfront money and was promised visits, body cam and communication, I got none of them.

On the face of it Mcvicar is a new company, not very good at what they claim to do and make up what they actually have done.

The owner on companies house when googled has quite a scary past in relation to securing money and even made the national papers - Well done!

I am currently starting a court claim against this company to get my money back because after a few weeks they just ghosted me, took my money and made up what they did

Very quick to take action and quick results!

Very understanding company. They really do listen and will help you if you explain your circumstances and are honest upfront.

I was contacted by dave and he was a pleasure to me he help me out, this is very good service and i recommend this service and if you ever need help with debt please ask for dave he is a really good at the job.

Collected an overdue invoice quickly & communication was great!

Another update. (April '24)
It transpires that my review woke McVicar up and yes, I had some correspondence since my first review (giving them one star.) As they stepped up, I felt it was prudent to give them a 4 star. In the last 3 months however, I have had to constantly chase them. I don't ever get any calls, just an occasional email from an agent with pictures of the debtors property. (but without any results) Had they spoken to me in person, we could have come up with a better strategy than what they are pursuing, as I could have told them what they are doing won't work.
Apologies for so many updates on one review, but I feel it has to be transparent that their overall service doesn't deserve more than a 3. Communication is very poor.

(Dec '23) Update on the below: After I wrote this, I have had several calls and emails from McVicar. They have provided me with two reports from visits to the debtor and have kept me in the loop along the way. It's still early in the process to say if they will be successful in recovering any of my debt, but they are making several visits and enquiries now and doing what I paid for. Ellen at McVikar has been very helpful in the last couple of weeks.

I was contacted by the owner Dave (after doing a search for debt collectors on Bark) who was very eager to help me recover my debt. He explained the company had been running for 18 months (this was in October '23) but that he had more than 15 years experience in the industry. I was also re-assured that I would get regular updates per email as well as pictures/footage of their visits to the company owing the debt. After paying the fee, I looked McVicar up and discovered it was registered in May '23, so not 18 months as he had claimed. I have also had no contact from them; the phone number he once used is no longer active, the 'office' phone number is an outsourced service and with the only option of leaving messages with the promise of someone getting back to you, (which nobody does) I'm afraid this company is just one for collecting a fee from you and not doing any work. I am SO disappointed in this guy, Dave - I was disheartened enough losing nearly £5000 to a used car company and although a bit sceptical, McVikar convinced me they/he could help. Fooled again! No wonder people lose faith in people being honest; there are so many scammers out there! Don't trust McVikar!

I had used one of the bigger companies before trying to get my money back and they were useless - all they did was send a few letters and e mails! A friend told me about McVicar so I thought I’d give it a try. So glad I did ! A week after taking my case on they’d sent someone to knock on his door and got my money ! And they paid me straight away - no waiting. Thank You McVicar !
