Never had to use a debt collection service before so was abit sceptical, but I have to say this company was outstanding and retrieved my money quickly with no hassle to me, would recommend to anybody.

Having never needed to use the services of a debt collection agency before I was unsure as to what to expect. I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. The long-standing debt was settled almost immediately, I was kept fully informed as to the progress of the claim and the staff I dealt with were always pleasant. If needed I would definitely call on their services again.

I would avoid at all cost.
If this was the only debt recovery company out there save your money and accept your debt will never be recovered.
A "fantastic" Michael promised they are amazing and will continue to chase and attempt to recover your debt. You will also get monthly updates.
NONE of this is true. They take your money and then go silent on you.
No calls answered.
No messages returned.
No emails answered.
They may as well not exist and I am sorry I ever found them.

But they do email you telling you they are changing the T's and C's to their benefit and your detriment.

Don't waste any more money on this company , they never update you as the contract says monthly updates, since July I've had 1 update and I had to keep chasing for this no one answered emails or voicemail left , Daryl the guy selling the company to you , told me he'd left when I messaged and asked for an update as no one was replying to me , told me he'd left , so eventually when someone did answer the phone I asked to speak to him and they said he was out of office, I said oh OK he does still work there then, they said yes but he is marketing . Since Sept I've sent 3 emails asking for updates as a doorstep visit was due and still its November, no update, no contact from them at all . Just another company willing to take money off you when your at your most vulnerable and are looking for help .
They reply to this review by asking me to email , I emailed on 10th Dec same email they put in their response here , same email I've already been emailing and guess what , 18th Dec, still no reply. Making out they are concerned about the review absolute jokers , I'd actually like my £350 back

I employed this company to recover a debt I had obtained a CCJ for after being promised they would persue the debtor relentlessly, only ceasing if they passed away & supply weekly/monthly reports of progress.
I supplied all information needed in April, but after 3 months I had received no contact.
I telephoned MDC but was spoken to rudely & made to feel I should not be asking for reports
MDC did not persue debtor at the address I gave until pressed to do so, I had to constantly request reports, & do most of the tracing work myself.
I discussed this with Dave the manager, who offered me a refund but then I didn't receive until I finally pushed for it.
I was harassed by the debtor's wife to the point I had to report a case to the police, & after notifying MDC of the situation, was accused by them of harassing the debtor at his address & they closed my case.
It seems MDC are confused who their clients are & have no intention of collecting the debt for you.
Stay away from them. They will promise results with relentless pursuit of debtor's but do not deliver.

Terrible company, terrible people never use them complete rip off at scam if you want to refund you cannot get it even though they scammed you in the first place

Horrible company never get back to you. You need to phone them constantly. Maggie is extremely rude. The people don’t care about you and you need to pay £360 to start all the stuff you are supposed to get a Weekly report You don’t receive it you need to phone them

Edit: I have now been told they have no way to get access to the property to receive money. I was told they could do this in a very first phone call and couple weeks ago over a phone call. Do not use this company the incompetence from This company is shocking. I am from Scotland and I needed Degree to get my money back which I already had they tried to get a CCJ form which only works in England. It took them about 13 weeks to notice this mistake when my case handler left the company. And now they are trying to get a warrant to go to the persons house. I started this claim about eight months ago. This could’ve been done in the first week.

I would like to address the communication issues I've experienced with this company. While I understand the challenges of contacting debtors and acknowledge that the Terms and Conditions may outline expectations regarding timelines, I find their complete lack of communication unacceptable and deeply concerning.
It has now been nearly 10 weeks since I last heard from the case handlers, which gives the impression that they may be complacent or do not see the need to update clients on progress (or the lack thereof). This is in stark contrast to the initial phase, where I was inundated with calls and emails when they were collecting the deposit.
At this point, I will hold off on rating them based on the outcome of the case and will wait to see how things develop.

McVicar - The worst company ever. Not regulated by FCA - Financial Conduct Authority nor by CSA - Credit Services Association. Nobody knows who regulates them. They just keep sending me threatening emails and letters that their team of agents would come to my home to extort money from me. Money, that I don't owe. They didn't respond to my complains. Because they're not regulated, they hire another company - STA International to do the search on your Credit Report to obtain your most sensitive data for their client who pays them £180 for their service. Yeah, yeah, they will say that they were acting in a "good faith" believing in what their client told them about you, that you owe them money, supposedly, but they fail to do the due diligence checks, and that's a fact. They never check the information. They don't ask for the invoices or the proof that the person who hired them was the person who hired you at the first place. They don't check if the Court Order was made, nothing. They will do anything for money. I contacted the Police and filed the report on them and the person who hired them and they told me to call Police immediately if they ever show up at my door. If they will be calling you, don't answer the phone. Their phone number is 0333 577 0120. All you can do is to file a complaint with ICO - Information Commissioner Office and sue them and sue the person who hired them and filing a complaint with STA International to Financial Ombudsman. Also write to your MPs, all of them, expressing your outrage about this mis regulated and underregulated financial sector that needs proper regulation. I also filled a complaint with Experian and Financial Ombudsman regarding STA International who are in evident collaboration with McVicar threatening company.

I went to McVicar with a none payment of work that my company had done almost 4 months ago,knowing we was in the right they quickly solved the problem within 2 weeks and I got FULL payment

I opted to use debt recovery after wasteful efforts of my own to get my money back.
All the recovery process was explained fully, i had regular updates from the team and i now have a regular income from a payment plan the team arranged. First class.

Explained the process in full detail and answered all my questions. Ive finally got my money back but didn’t happen overnight even though I didn’t expect it too as I’d waited so long anyway I thought I’d give it a try. Best decision I made!

We were told we got lucky, our case was resolved quite quickly with a lump sum and a monthly payment plan put in place, I can only presume that most cases take longer if people aren't willing to pay. We waited about 9 weeks to get a resolution and we should have the money back within 12 months. The collections team kept us up to date, we had a quiet spell without hearing anything but they said we needed to trust the process so we did, was frustrating at first but we are happy, we thought it was a lost cause!!

They are unable to recover any money from the person. All they have done is visited twice and left their card in his door. I wasted debt money as well as fee paid to them. Totally useless. I would suggest anyone, NOT to hire McVicar Debt Collections as after they have taken your money. They won't even reply.

5 weeks ago I asked them for a update as they made it very straight forward however they wrote back they will get the team to reply to me.
They definitely don’t sound like a professional firm and wouldn’t engage with them have I knew this before.
Absolutely bonkers your reply. I was told someone will call me back and 5 weeks ago and no one did!

I got ripped off for a car repair, so I looked for help to collect debt. The sales guy, Michael, is brilliant at convincing you that you're gonna get a great service.

Once you've paid them, they send you an email with contact details.

Try to contact them and you get zero response. Not even an acknowledgement and I'm sat here 2 months later with no idea what's going on.

I did get a monthly report saying they tried to call the garage twice. Hardly the visit in person that I was told was going to happen.

I would have been better served following Citizens Advice Bureau advice than using this lot. Totally disappointed in their service.

Quick and efficient!

All I wanted was for someone to make the process as easy as possible. They explained the process well and completed what I requested in a timely manner. Communication was always good, I was never waiting too long for a response.
