Il Marchesato is a family Company founded in 1978 in Saluzzo, a tiny town in the North West of Italy, not far from Turin.
The name is after the old name of the area, and it means “The land of the Marquis”, a common way in the ancient times to define places according to the nobles in charge. From the beginning Il Marchesato makes hand made luxury umbreallas, walking sticks and shoehorns with a vast array of high quality materials.
Every single piece is mounted by hand, precious textiles cut by hand, sticks and handles are worked by the family members and porcelain handles painted by local artists working with the Company since longtime. Even the top notches and runners of the umbrellas are mounted and tested internally one by one.

Regarding the engraving: all initials are engraved directly on the handle of the model purchased, according to its specific design and positioning. Each engraving is made by hand, one by one, with great care and attention. For this reason, it is extremely rare that a requested engraving is not carried out.
We kindly invite you to carefully check the handle, as depending on the model the engraving may be placed in a discreet but precise position. If for any reason the engraving is genuinely missing, please contact us at info@ilmarchesato.com
and send a clear photo of the handle. Should an error have occurred, we will promptly refund the engraving cost or arrange a replacement with the correct engraving. Our priority is always to resolve any issue professionally and fairly.
Regarding customs fees and delivery delays: import duties and any related delays are determined exclusively by the customs authorities of the destination country. These procedures are not controllable by us nor by the courier. In the case of shipments to the United States, duties and taxes follow U.S. government regulations and policies.
We remain fully available to assist you and to clarify the situation.

Extortionate customs charges
I received a beautiful umbrella yesterday, However I had to pay £62.63 customs charges to the UK. I wrote some lovely comments on their Instagram page but mentioned the extortionate customs charges. My comments were immediately removed, not once but twice. If you are thinking of buying from this company check the charges!

We would like to clarify that shipments to countries outside the European Union, including the United Kingdom, are subject to import duties and taxes determined exclusively by local authorities. These charges are clearly indicated on our Delivery Rates page, during checkout prior to order confirmation, and again in the order confirmation communications, as they cannot be prepaid or controlled by us.

Eye catching
I've been ordering umbrellas and canopies from them for years, simply because they're so unique and eye-catching. People always ask me where I bought my umbrella or canopy. They say it's beautifully designed or a real feast for the eyes. I always tell them it's from an Italian manufacturer. Not mass-produced in China, and a bit pricey, but it's a wonderful experience and a joy. I'm very happy with the quality. Perhaps they'll offer umbrellas with a larger diameter someday.
