POOR SERVICE FROM CHARGEPLACE SCOTLAND
Charged yesterday afternoon at Kennacraig Ferry Terminal near Tarbert Argyll. In the evening tried to charge at Argyll College , Campbeltown. Charger would not accept card I used at Kennacraig. Furthermore, unable to connect to Charge Place Scotland helpline. Was over one hour on phone to no avail.Luckily, I got rid of my Electric Car and REPLACED WITH A PLUGIN HYBRID which gives me the option to use petrol rather than electric.
DO NOT NEED TO CHARGE YOUR CAR IN SCOTLAND
DO NOT need to charge a EV in Scotland. Especially in edinburgh. Woeful woeful. Always locked out of account. Cards don’t work. Changeover to new payment system a disaster.
Their systems have had issues for the…
Their systems have had issues for the past week which means that pretty much every time I go to charge my car I have to call to connect and disconnect. The system error keeps blocking my card and is pervasive so it’s not just me who is affected. The knock on effect is that the hold times are longer which increases the inconvenience and frustration. Whatever they are doing to fix it has not been working and has not resolved for over a week. There is very few alternatives so they effectively have a monopoly.
Not fit for purpose
What can I say, since the change in payment provider my card is blocked every time I charge. Phone waiting times are over a hour every time I phone. Service and network now not fit for purpose. Call handlers are helpful but as frustrated as we are.
The most painful part of owning an EV
It's never straightforward with this lot. I've been driving an EV for 6 months and charging with CPS is painful. The app isn't fit for purpose. The chargers are often broken or have issues and their business processes and software are terrible. They've recently switched payment providers and since then I've been locked out of my account multiple times for no reason. I'm often sat on hold waiting to speak to someone to get issues resolved just so I can get back on the road. I'm sat on hold as I'm writing this review. 48 minutes so far and counting just to get the charging session started. Very very poor.
If I could give zero star
If I could give zero star, I would! Absolutely a nightmare...waiting time for customer service is over 1h - ALWAYS. After a day of work, all you want to do is to stay in the car another hour and wait for them to pick up to unlock your account due some internal system issues.
useless
useless, can't get through to helpline, can't charge the car, most ports don't work, never got my charging card etc.... back to petrol!!!!
Absolutely useless
Absolutely useless. I had my RFID card only a couple of months. Untill I noticed an overstay charge of £40 on my account. How could this be?, because when I returned to my vehicle, it was charged to 68%. Phoned to complain, which was a waste of time. Card got sent back and account closed. As if using public chargers is not expensive enough, this was unacceptable. Got a home charger fitted now and I'm saving loadsamoney 😆
Used to be a great service
Used to be a great service , since stripe payment system introduced it's a shambles. Haven't been able to use card for 6 weeks as I can't upload my details . Even cps it experts in Dundee couldn't. At least they called me back.
Surprised newspapers haven't got this as hundreds of not thousands of people in same boat as me.
Back to a diesel EClass for us !
Absolutely the worst
Absolutely the worst! Chargers never work and you always have to ring the office to have it resolved. Even then you have to do a song and dance to make it work - close all doors, bow to the King, open the app, eat a melon, click the charge button, build a sandcastle, plug the car in, read a book, wait 60 seconds... And then the office people tell you this particular unit is not compatible with the app...
Fix it for god's sake!
Absolutely abysmal !!!!
Absolutely abysmal !!!!! What a terrible experience Scotlands EV Network was. Do not even consider travelling in and around Scotland in your Electric Vehicle!!!
****YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!****
Charge Place Scotland Moving to Stripe
Charge Place Scotland are moving all payments from Swarco to Stripe. In moving over yo the Stripe system I had problems with weblinks that didnt work and an interface that was hard to use on a mobile.
It is not user friendly.
A card entry screen that can only be used on landscape mode! It took me a few minutes to try out options before I could enter details. Not a good start for what will prove to be a poor system.
CPS you are making a mistake albeit cutting costs@
Change of payment method
How can any business introduce such a change with so little notice! 4 days warning forcing customers to set up an account with Stripe who are an unknown organisation to many people.
Although payment by credit will be allowed, I am told that the local councils are responsible for making the change to enable charging stations to accept contactless payment. Do Councils have the resources & budget to carry out the change before Monday?
Although some customers may be happy with change to immediate payment, for the many who are content with the current monthly direct debit system, why not offer a choice?
Not surprised they have received multiple complaints.
The majority of the charging points do not work!
The majority of the charging points around the country are unusable. It took over 45 minutes to speak to someone and two calls! They didn't managed to start the fast charger only the slow one. Pityful. Are you going to pay for our stay here as this car park charges 1.50 per hour. Furious!
Just got an rfid card and now payment needs changing in 5days while we are on hols
Just got an rfid card last week ready to come on hols to Mallaig. Now here they have sent message to say I have 5 days to change payment method otherwise it won't work. But can I get through on their website, of course not, with such a short timescale everyone is panicking. Absolutely ridiculous stupid short timescale someone needs a p45
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would!
I tried 4 different chargers in Bathgate before I found one that would work. 3 of them were out of order!
I charged for 1.5 hours and was billed £45. A Tesla super charger would have been cheaper!!
What are you doing ChargePlaceScotland?
I have Nothing more to add other than…
I have Nothing more to add other than no good at all, avoid north of the border.
Thank god for my BMW's i3 range extender, most of my holiday in Scotland was on petrol due to many many faulty charge points.
When you see a CPS charger just assume it's faulty.
Chargeplacescotland- poor service
I wish I had known how awful the chargeplacescotland service was going to be before I got my EV(a big mistake- would go back to petrol in a heart eat)The call centre staff are very friendly but their charge points are unreliable and few in number)Plenty of slow chargers if you have 10 hours to spare!
Dire. Holiday ruined.
I'd never had the misfortune to venture northwards beyond the central belt and gamble with the inept monopoly that's chargeplacescotland, until the last week getting to and from Skye.
A 100% failure rate is something really special. Fort William - zero working chargers; For Augustus - zero, Shiel Bridge - one dead charger; Newtonmore - not working and the call centre muppet even claimed it didn't exist, Kingussie - two hours and three cutouts to get half a charge (and I really hope they don't dare try it on with an overstay charge). The call centre staff varied from the helpful and concerned to the thick-as-mince brigade.
An RFID card that takes 4 weeks to arrive by post - how 1970s is that?
Thank God for the 13A cable I brought with me, and the kindliness of hotel staff that let us plug in for the night to trickle charge on the quiet.
Galling that there's some well-pensioned-up senior civil servant responsible for all this. There are plenty of things to admire in the Scottish way of doing things - but plenty of things that are shameful and disgraceful, this is one of them. The politicians need to keep their mouths shut about green issues until they sort this out.
Crap customer service, charging points never work
Poor customer service, I’ve raised 4 tickets over the last 2 months for multiple issues affecting all 4 chargers on Fettes Avenue in Stockbridge. All you get are placeholder / piecemeal replies such as “we’re looking into it” “we drove past and it seemed fine to us” “we’ve engaged a contractor with no ETA”. Happy to change my review if ChargePlace actually commit to to meaningful change and resolving these issues, rather than passing the buck as a middle man to BP / contractors.
