Shocking company do not use

Shocking company do not use. Booked a car online using American Express which they accepted. Only to be told when we arrived that they would not accept AE cards as a deposit and instead our only option was to spend £200 on insurance + a £100 debit card deposit as they would not accept a card from anyone else nor add a new driver to the booking and accept that card. Do not waste your time with them.

Not recommended

Caldera rental office on Kos. Not a great experience. The car received was a banged up Fiat Panda with a wonky gear stick and faulty lights. The fuel tank was one bar empty when collected, which was noted by a nice member of staff, however this dropped a second bar almost immediately after driving away. Since fueling is typically done by service station assistants it is not easy to return the tank with the same level of fuel and we ended up filling it completely.

Despite being returned with a full tank of fuel (and therefore in better condition that it was received), the grumpy grey-haired middle aged man at reception would not accept the car as there was sand in the back seat and demanded that we leave and have the car vacuumed. Luckily we had plenty of time to do so before our flight otherwise he would have happily charged us a fee of 150 euros. There was literally 10 grains of sand on the back seats (along with salt stains on the rear cushions which were not caused by us).

I've rented many cars on several Greek islands and this attitude towards what was a pretty clean car shocked me.

Everybody we met on the island of Kos was lovely, except for this sour-faced Caldera man who made a good attempt of ruining our last day. He's lost a future customer over a pinch of sand, well done boss!

Nous avions réservé dans cette agence avec une prise du véhicule 24/24 avec frais supplémentaires. Nous sommes arrivés quelques dizaines de minutes après l’heure évaluée . Ma fille enceinte ma mère 81 ans a un peu plus de 1 heure du matin et mauvaise surprise on nous a refusé notre location sans nous rembourser nos 200 euros d’acomptes !! Nous avons été obliger de prendre un taxi qui nous a conduit à 1 h de l’aéroport . Grosse déception . Je DÉCONSEILLE CETTE AGENCE CARJET À CORFOU FAITES TRÈS ATTENTION . Ils ne méritent pas de travailler .

Left stranded in Athens

Booked an estate car for 2 weeks in Aegina, Greece. Arrived in Athens to find no one was there to collect us to take us to the pick up location. Phoned up to be told the estate wasn't there and I would either have to wait 4+ hours for one to become available or they would give me 2 separate mini cars. Both options were not viable as I had a pre booked ferry that was due to leave within 2 hours and not sure how they expected me to drive two cars as i explained i needed an estate for wife's wheelchair and suitcases

Told they would cancel my booking and I'm still waiting for them to investigate my claim 3+ weeks later! Am now out of pocket €300+ due to taxi transfers i had to pay.

Do not waste your money!

Rent old cars...terrible customer service

At the Caldera rental office, we waited approximately 20 minutes as two customers were ahead of us. When it was our turn, we met Isabelle, who was polite but unremarkable in her service. She located our reservation, printed the paperwork, and asked us to sign. We declined because she had not conducted a walk-through of the car as she had with the previous clients. Isabelle brought the vehicle to the front entrance, but not under adequate lighting. My husband asked her to move it closer, but she shrugged him off. It was dark, so we had to use our phone lights to inspect the car. We know we shouldn't have done this. Isabelle went inside and spoke to a colleague, who came to look at something on the car's dashboard briefly. I asked if everything was ok, and he said yes. Isabelle then returned, conducted a rapid walk-around, and started marking the sheet. We took some photos, but the lighting was insufficient. Despite our reservations, my husband signed, and we left, a decision we soon regretted.

From the start, my husband noticed that the car did not drive well and the steering wheel was stiff. He initially attributed it to being unfamiliar with the vehicle. However, halfway to our hotel, an hour away, we heard intermittent noises that caused significant concern. Given the late hour and our two small children, we decided to proceed to our destination, planning to call the office in the morning since it was almost midnight. The discomfort and worry about the car's condition marred our journey.

The following day, in daylight, we discovered the car was old and in poor condition, with stained seats. We realized the clients served before had received new cars, while we were given an old vehicle in substandard condition.
I called to report the issues. A representative answered and immediately dismissed our concerns, attributing the noise to the air conditioning. She asked if there were any warning lights, and when I said no, she insisted it was the A/C. I requested a car exchange, but she said it was not possible. When I asked to speak with a manager, she hung up mid-sentence. I called back twice with no answer. The same representative answered aggressively on the third call, questioning if I had issues with the employees or the company. I clarified my problem with the car and asked to speak to a manager. Eventually, Demetri got on the phone, repeated the same questions, and requested I turn the car and A/C on. Since the noise only occurred while driving, he said he would send someone to our hotel to check the vehicle. However, no one came. I called back eight times to two numbers listed on the office door but received no response.
When we returned the car, Demetri said the company had sent him to address the situation, primarily the unprofessional behavior of his colleague who had hung up on me. At first, Demetri offered circular explanations but eventually apologized for his colleague’s behavior, which I appreciated. He kept claiming they had sent someone to our hotel and that the Caldera main office had called me several times. I showed him my call log, which had no missed calls. When he checked the number they called, it was incorrect. Despite this, he still insisted the central office had called me.
Demetri then asked if I worked in IT, which I found strange. I said no. He asked to see my phone, and, oddly, I complied. He manipulated my call log, deleting a number, and then said, "You see how easy it is," insinuating that I had deleted evidence that the company had called me. This was a baseless and absurd accusation. His comment disappointed me since I thought Demetri would be more professional than his colleague, who yelled and hung up on me. At this point, it’s clear that continuing any further discussion is useless. I told him we had a flight to catch and needed to leave, asking him to close our ticket and refund our €750 deposit. He did not give us any paperwork or receipts before leaving. Regardless, we had to go and catch our flight. The customer service at Caldera Rentals was highly disappointing. The car they rented to us was old and poorly maintained. Despite our intention to support a local business, I cannot recommend this company. A minor issue escalated into a significant problem due to the staff's unprofessional and immature behavior, revealing their lack of customer service and conflict resolution skills. This experience has left us deeply dissatisfied.

Noleggio senza complicazioni

Auto ritirata a Salonicco e riconsegnata a Corfù (unica compagnia tra le varie ricercate che lo consente, naturalmente con sovrapprezzo). Bus navetta a Salonicco arrivato dopo alcuni minuti di attesa senza bisogno di chiamare. L autista aveva il nostro nominativo nella lista. Auto consegnata in meno di 20 minuti, auto non molto nuova ma più grande di quella prenotata. Qualche piccolo danno di carrozzeria già presente e fotografato su indicazione del personale dell ufficio. Riconsegna senza problemi a Corfù al mattino presto, velocizzando la pratica perché il volo partiva a breve. L ufficio è a lato dell aeroporto (250m), non serve la navetta.Cauzione restituita dopo 3 giorni

Arrivare in anticipo è grave

Sono arrivato in aeroporto di Creta alle 6,15 per poi partire alla volta dell'Italia..una signora piuttosto nervosa,poiché non sono arrivato alle 7,ma in anticipo,mi ha chiesto una penale di €25..ho guardato il contratto ed il sito è non c'è traccia di questo balzello richiesto..per tutta risposta,ci ha fatto caricare la macchina dei bagagli scaricati un minuto prima di entrare in ufficio e ci ha detto di tornare in "orario".
Siamo andati in giro a consumare una mezza tacca in più lasciata in serbatoio.
Non è un regalo meritato.
Penso ad una penale se consegno in ritardo.
È stata irremovibile, scortese,nervosa e zero cortesia verso un cliente con famiglia.
Spero venga rilasciata,come previsto,la caparra di €750 nei tempi indicati.

401 euro betaald. Auto zou geleverd worden door Caldera.
Nooit een auto gezien en Caldera was niet te bereiken.
Met credTcard betAld en probeer nu via ing mn geld terug te krijgen.

Car Hire Scam Alert: Trapped in Athens!

In March, we made a car hire booking for August in Athens through economybooking.com and paid a £180 deposit, even though we were willing to pay the full amount upfront. Regrettably, our booking was canceled because we arrived late on the scheduled day due to flight cancellations during our journey from the other side of the world. Upon our delayed arrival at the Caldera offices, situated in a remote area, we found ourselves stranded with all our luggage and without a car. The manager proved unhelpful, and despite our presence at the booking location midday, economybooking.com informed us that we had forfeited our deposit due to a 'no show' situation. Notably, there was no prior warning of such a penalty for late arrival in the terms and conditions. It seems that this is the company's method of generating revenue while marketing affordable car hire services in partnership with economybooking.com."

Thessaloniki.
Bilen vi hyrde hade 0 mm mönsterdjup på framdäcken. Bucklor o repor överallt. Inga problem sa personalen. Vägrade ta emot Bilen. Fick en likadan men den hade bältet bak fastnat och ryggfällningen bak var trasig. Även den ordentligt bucklig.
Bil nr 3 fick det bli motvilligt. Skitig invändigt och framrutan disig..Hyr ej av dom. Hutlös deposition dessutom.
Bilarna jag såg var i stort sätt samma skick allihopa.

Extorting money from customers

Ordered family car on Kos island through economybooking. The office hosts several companies. Although the order was from Caldera, the sign on the car was "Drive". There as a sign warning of a fee if the car is "dirty or full of sand", Which sounds acceptable. Before bringing my car I cleaned it from sand and dust as much as possible, just as I did it with previous rented cars. But the decision as to whether the vehicle is "dirty" is up to the staff alone. I returned a clean vehicle that requires a little vacuuming, which they will do in any case before handing it over to next customer. But they charged me 100 euros claiming that the vehicle was full of sand. They yelled on me in front of my family. The attitude was humiliating and violent. I don't know about other branches, but The branch in Kos is run by dishonest people who extort money from customers

Wartezeit bis zur Erledigung 2 Stunden.

Impossible to contact

I tried to contact the company several times via email and phone in order to amend the booking as I had lost my credit card and therefore needed to change the name on the booking but had no response, when we turned up at the airport we struggled to get an answer to our phone calls for the shuttle but when we finally got to the office we were told we could not amend the booking and therefore could not rent a car. We could not even start a new booking so we were forced to return to the airport and make alternative plans

Nous avions payer un rachat de franchise avant de partir …

Nous avions payer un rachat de franchise pour une location de voiture au moment de la réservation ,arrivé là-bas on nous à dit que la franchise n'était valable qu'en France et qu'il fallait régler 120euros pour avoir cette franchise . Autrement nous n'avions pas les clés ,mais le plus fort c'est qu'avant de régler cette somme il ont pris 800 euros de caution. Bref une belle arnaque qui a l'aire de fonctionner depuis des années . Entreprise vraiment à fuir

They want to sell you a very expensive full insurance extra on site. Didn't do it.
Brought the car back and the situation escalated.
They found a cratch I couldn't see from 1.5 meters. This very very thin scratch came from nowhere..
Had to pay more than 470 euro for a repair I think they never will do.
Unbeleavable.
Had to wait 1 hour until a responsible man came. Stayed there 2 hours.
Never try this company again.

Avevo segnalato loro che l’aereo arrivava alle 20.15 all’aeroporto di Atene ma purtroppo l’aereo ha fatto un po’ tardi ed è arrivato alle 21.20(cosa molto comune quando viaggi in aereo)

Ebbene chiamo Caldera con il numero fornito da Booking, la signora mi URLA al telefono dicendomi che visto che siamo in ritardo LA MACCHINA NON C’É PIÙ E CHE LORO SONO CHIUSI.

SOLDI RUBATI DA LORO SENZA AVERE IL MEZZO..

……………..

Ora immaginate voi lo stress provocato, il danno economico…
Abbiamo dovuto prendere un’altra macchina direttamente in aereo porto con un prezzo esorbitante…..

Caldera FA TRUFFA “legalizzata” e purtroppo BOOKING né complice visto che si affida a questi TRUFFATORI!

Avoid Caldera car hire company and Carjet

I booked an automatic Toyota Auris through Carjet for our two week stay in Crete (Pickup - Heraklion airport). What I got was a tatty old Peugeot. The gearbox was so bad (seemed to skip 2nd gear) I had to call to exchange the car. I had to go to the airport and exchange it myself. The second car was a fiat Tipo estate manual as they had no automatics! It was in terrible condition, the interior was bad - the rear luggage cover was broken and the gear gaiter was ripped off with the exterior looking worse for wear with scratches and dents that had never been repaired. On returning the car they pointed out a new scratch and new dent which they duly charged for - 546 Euros! They even charged for two days loss of use to get it repaired. I doubt they will get any repairs carried out as none of the previous issues appeared to be dealt with. Luckily I had taken out platinum insurance cover and can claim all my money back.
Warning to all, avoid Caldera at all costs as I will - and avoid Carjet as their customer service is appalling.
Also always takeout full insurance at time of booking from an independent if possible - it's so much cheaper and worth every penny for peace of mind.
Caldera's behaviour is like that of cowboys - Avoid Avoid Avoid at all cost.
