My visit to Boots Opticians in Barnsley was carried out with the highest level of customer care & professionalism that could possibly have been expected.
I would especially like to give a ‘shout out’ to Almas Fatima, the Optician, who carried my eye test & examination with the greatest level of care & took time to fully explain the results & the overall condition of my eyes. I was very impressed with the level of service given by Almas.
In the same way, Simon offered a great deal of help in assisting me to select my glasses frames & choose the level of lenses that will best suit my needs.
My overall feeling is that my expectations were fully met & I cannot thank the staff enough for the level of help & support given.
A job very well done indeed.

I am a returning customer to Boots Opticians in Cheshunt, after a few years away.
I was very happy with my experience there, as the Optometrist and all of the staff were very friendly. I had a thorough eye test, scan and a Fields Test at my request and they will monitor my eye condition.
I used the current offer of 1 pair full price - 2nd pair half price - 3rd pair free, plus 10% off on my 'Boots card', and although expensive I am very happy with all 3 pairs of glasses!
An especially big 'thank you' to Judith, who helped me choose the best frames and lenses (Varifocals) for my needs, and also explained the differences in the lenses and answered all of my questions with a lot of patience.
She didn't rush me to make a decision and as I'm a pensioner I appreciated that!
What a friendly and knowledgeable young lady and excellent customer service!

Service was great particularly from optometrist who was thorough and did not rush explaining everything and gave some really useful advice

The technician made a hash of it photo on one eye. The optician gave up after the few minutes saying I needed cataract Sergery. I went to Speksavers for a second opinion. They spent nearly an hour examining my eyes. Advising that my prescription had changed very little. They advised me on the cataract Sergery that would be necessary at some point in the future.

Telephone boots opticians to rearrange mine and my mum eye test. The lady I spoke to english was bad her understanding was bad why do company employ people who can't understand or speak a basic English to be able to communicate in a simple manner now I decided to go to specsavers

I had the worst experience and service at Boots Peterborough Queensgate.

I had to make a formal complaint in regards to the service and the way in which my appointment was conducted by the optometrist. Just a routine annual appointment.

I have been using Boots Opticians for a number of years now and the service has always been professional and I have felt I could trust the advice given. However, on this particular occasion, that has now all changed!

The optometrist I saw was brash and rude in his manner and had lacked the range of vocabulary to explain his findings using completely the wrong terminology. He was extremely unprofessional and this is not the type of person you should have seeing patients!

I felt the examination was hurried, and nothing like the appointments I’ve had prior to this. He was very surly and didn’t strike me as reassuring whatsoever. Then after checking my eye examinations, he proceeded to tell me I was blind!!! Because I don’t wear my glasses from the time I wake to the time I go to bed! How dare he explain my eye prescription in that way! And was obviously stating I had a severe disability. He told me in all his 15 years of practicing, (you could have fooled me!) he said my prescription is that of a blind person! I mean where was he getting this from? And went on to say you’re blind! I am not accepting that and I therefore raised a formal complaint against this optometrist. He had no right to explain my eye condition using that phrase and analogy. I am perfectly able to see and I consider my sight a gift from God, so how dare someone tell me I’m blind and mock God’s gift to me. That is preposterous! This person needs to be reported, reprimanded and reminded how to communicate in a respectful and professional manner.

Then after the appointment, I was left hanging around whilst he decided which assistant could give me a further peripheral vision test, no communication, just confusion with the staff. I was eventually seated then two assistants couldn’t decide whether I had to wear a dodgy pair of out of focus glasses to take the test! I had to tell them that in the past I’ve never had to use any such glasses for this test. One of the assistants eventually came back anfter leaving me on my own for what seemed like ages and said I was right! I mean, what kind of practice is this??!! I know you can’t get the staff these days, but they did not realise how utterly unprofessional they have made Boots look.

As a result, I will now not be using Boots for any future eye tests, because on this occasion, I realised I simply cannot trust their judgement. This has left me feeling like what a waste of my time. The optometrist didn’t even advise if I should change my glasses, nothing, although I know I don’t need to change them!

Staff very professional and able to give good advice and information about eye health care and how to get the best out of prescription varifocals.

The Optician that I saw was polite, considerate and extremely helpful. She was understanding of my needs and that I was anxious prior to my visit. She explained everything carefully. Developed a plan to treat my dry eyes. I have a thorough eye test and eye examination.

My husband attended sandbach boots opticians as advised by the hospital for a checkup having had cataract removal and surgery for glaucoma
A simple check was required to be sent back through to the hospital
He was talked into another scan at a cost of £50 + eye drops at £17
To charge a pensioner this amount when he is undergoing treatment at the hospital for glaucoma hence under long term review
A simple post surgery scan was all that was required…. Absolutely disgusted!!

I'd been with Boots since 2010 at their Eldon Square branch in Newcastle upon Tyne. For the majority of that time, I'd been quite satisfied.
In 2022, a new member of staff, Paul, arrived and seemed to be quite pushy. He recommended I required £400 lenses (I didn't, but I'm just the patient; my opinion didn't count) because my job involved working with a PC. It's my impression he was on commission/a kickback from the lens makers.
Roll on to 2024. I needed new glasses. I'd lost them. Oh no! Another £400!
The following year, my glasses slid down my face on a very hot day and broke. The arm fell off. I took them back to Boots who replaced the arm and all was well.
Earlier this year, the same arm fell off the same frames.
I went back.
"I can't believe I'm back here with the same problem again", I announced jovially.
The assistant looked at me (it was Sheila, a woman who'd served me many times in the past). She invited me to take a seat.
"Could I take your name,please?"
I gave it.
"You're not on our system. Sorry!"
"Yes, I am. I've been your customer since 2010!"
"Ok, give iz ya details again...Oh, yes, here you are."
I explained why I was back.
"You got those frames in 2024."
I agreed but added the arm first fell off in '25 and had just done so again in '26.
"Did you take them off one-handed?"
Seriously?
"Tbh, I can't remember, but the first time I hadn't touched them at all. Your point is?"
She wouldn't budge. It was another £400 pair or leave with broken spex, so I left and will never return.
Absolutely terrible.
Sixteen years of loyal custom down the drain and, to cap it all, I had never needed those "whistles and bells" lenses at all.
Shoddy behaviour. I'm l now with M&S. By far superior.

All staff are very good at their jobs. Very good facilities. Opticians give a feeling of confidence in how they perform the eyesight tests and comprehensive details on the results.
