Boots St Austell - Fantastic Experiance
Myself and my daughter visited Boots Opticians St Austell this afternoon.
I hadn't had an eye check since I was at primary school and my daughter had never had her eyes checked before!
The eye care assistant Zoe couldn't of been more helpful - from the moment we entered the building, the specialist scans, choosing glasses and to checking out. First class experience which we enjoyed very much.
Gareth our optician was so so patient, more than happy to answer any questions and was very reassuring.
We felt relaxed and as though we were in experienced hands during our examinations.
We highly recommend the St Austell store - Staff will and have gone above and beyond.
We are looking forward to returning in a couple of weeks time to collect our new glasses : )

Zero‑star experience asking for a fair partial refund
I bought new glasses from Boots Opticians in April 2026 and wore them for about a month before going on a two‑week holiday. In the first week, the right arm came loose and then came off at the hinge, leaving me effectively unable to see and with no backup pair. A local optician abroad had to remove my lenses and put them into another frame so I could function for the rest of the trip.
When I got back, I went into the same Boots Opticians branch to explain what had happened and to ask for a partial refund of the spectacles – basically the frame only, as the lenses were fine and have been reused. I was not asking for anything unreasonable.
Instead, the manager (Magda) was defensive and dismissive from the start, repeatedly implying I must have damaged the glasses myself, despite them only being used for around a month and my having worn glasses for 20 years without anything like this. She showed no real interest in listening to what had happened or how it affected me while I was abroad. I was even mocked for not calling a Boots store while overseas (which would have been impractical and very expensive), and blamed for not buying additional insurance.
I left feeling blamed, embarrassed and not listened to. This was a simple request for a fair partial refund on what appears to be a weak frame, yet I was treated as if I was trying to get something for nothing. I’ve used Boots in the past and decided to give them another try after several years, but after this experience I have completely lost trust in Boots Opticians and will not be returning.
If you expect basic respect and a fair hearing when something goes wrong, think carefully before trusting your eyesight and your money to Boots Opticians.

I have received my contact lenses today and they have been very generous by giving me few different lenses to try. I would highly recommend boots opticians at Kingston to anyone looking for high quality eye care.

My wife had an eye test today at…
My wife had an eye test today at Alnwick boots. Her eyes had tested and very little different from the last test. The treatment, and information she got was second to none, and she said that the gentleman that tested her seemed more informed than what she got from the hospitals she had been to. Very impressed.

Harassing calls and texts.
Never using Boots Opticians anymore. I’m a disabled customer and all they do is harass you with calls and texts! They’ve sent me multiple texts about booking an appointment and because I didn’t book one, the harassing calls started, they were even rude enough to ask why I didn’t want to book an appointment!
Why I don’t want to is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! Not sure why they feel so entitled to nosey into peoples lives. Anymore calls from you and I’ll be reporting you for harassing behaviour.

Answered all the questions the consultant couldn't
I am waiting for a cataract operation, and had unanswered questions about the operation and what correction I would need afterwards, that the consultant at the hospital was unable to help with. I brought all of them to the optician at Boots in Chiswick, and as usual got clear, helpful, very friendly advice, which meant I can go ahead with confidence. This service was better than speaking to any hospital based clinician, who didn't have the time or inclination to help. Very very happy!

I am so grateful to the prescribing Optician Jack who saw me immediately in an emergency and provided correct advice to go straight to hospital. He was the epitome of kindness and even followed up the next day with a call to see how I was. Thank you 🙏

Harrassing me and refusing to stop
Kept getting a missed call from 01924911741 and despite them calling me a ridiculous amount of times they never left a message. I called them back today to find out who was calling me and apparently it is Boots Opticians. I asked them to stop calling me and if I needed an appointment I’d book one myself and she refused unless I answered security questions! They are the ones harassing me and now won’t stop despite being asked to! Number is now blocked and reported.

Thirsty but the well was dry
During a visit to Boots for an emergency appointment I requested a glass of water. I was told they couldn’t give me a glass of water as it was not safe. They suggested I buy a bottle. I didn’t, I approached 3 staff who were chatting and asked again why I couldn’t have water I got the same reply. My impression is that they couldn’t have a drink of water either. Boots management need to get their act together.

I always use Boots Opticians and have always found the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Their knowledge makes me feel reassured. My last visit was earlier this week and again I was served by Adriano (Bournemouth, Commercial Rd, branch). I remember him clearly from my previous visit a year ago. He is a breath of fresh air, absolutely charming, puts so much effort into ensuring that his customers understand all the procedures. Whilst waiting to see the optician I couldn't help but hear him advising a couple of elderly customers with their ongoing queries about glasses. He was so patient with them and they certainly left alot happier than when they came in. Adriano is a credit to Boots and hopefully he will still be there when I have my next appointment in 2027.

I was in need of a repair for my glasses, the frames were replaced and the lenses fitted there and then, Hannah who dealt with the problem was so kind and efficient, all in all a very good experience.

The actual eye test was really good
The actual eye test was really good, young man called Harvey. Very knowledgeable, polite and certainly knew his stuff 10/10. My problem is that the glasses I’m wearing now have gone cloudy and with little holes in the vision. Went in store to sort this problem and assistant told me that the protective on the lenses was breaking down and crystallising. Asked if there was any guarantee for this and was told NO. I was told to have an eye test and purchase another pair. Not happy. But the optician was very good.

Such helpful, professional and friendly staff. I was worried about a problem in my eye and they were so understanding and supportive. The optician spent time testing my eyes and discovered the problem, which fortunately wasn't anything serious.
