My experience with my years of membership with Birchbox, almost since its beginning, has been genuine. The products are carefully chosen with current trends in mind and with each box of sample size goodies I am sure to follow up with several full size orders of something I always enjoy using! I think the concept is great and am always encouraging others to join! There is no down side!

Birchbox does not deserve a one star

Birchbox does not deserve a one star. it deserves zero! I was a long time customer before the cheap company that bought them out. They were worth every penny of the $13 they charged a month. They now charge $20 a month and the cheap products they send are not worth the box they send them in!!! EVERY month you are offered a choice of mascara and hand lotion and the 2 other choices given are PACKETS of garbage you don’t even want!!! I tried canceling my membership but because I paid the $240 for the year upfront as a Christmas gift to myself, they will not give me my money back. A couple months back, I told them to just keep the products they were offering or throw them in the trash because I would not use them. The girls that work there should be ashamed of having their name associated with this cheap company!!!

Since relaunching Birchbox, we've been carefully reviewing past customer feedback to make meaningful improvements. Following a change in ownership after the previous owners unexpectedly ceased operations for nearly a year, we've been committed to enhancing our offerings. Each monthly Birchbox now includes 4-6 samples, depending on the sizes of the items selected. We are excited to share customers now have the option to include up to two full-size items per box, along with other samples! We provide our customization feature, to allow customers to self-selct the sample products and sizes right for them!

We sincerely hope we can resolve any concerns and look forward to hearing from you soon!

A Very POOR COMPANY!

As with other customers I am very disappointed with birchbox! I ordered Jan 8, 2024 It only took 23 days to arrive from the time it was shipped, not the time it was purchased, but from the time it shipped, which made it 35 days from purchase to delivery. It was finally delivered on Feb 13, 2024 I emailed them twice for shipping updates only to be told it was in the fullfilment stage, the emails were approximately 2 weeks apart! When I finally received "the box" I was oh so very disappointed! I emailed them again! The agent made excuses for the shipping as "shipping with an e-business is always a challenge" I call BS! Also in the box was a card for Dec 2023 box? I thought I ordered Jan 2024 box? Agent made excuses about it highlighting Dec Box! Why would you put a card in from the month before instead of highlighting the current box? Makes no sense! Ladt but certainly not least, the samples are so small you cant even read the directions with a magnafying glass! I never even got any kind of satisfaction from that company! Poor customer service, poor fullfilment, poor shipping, poor excuses for a company that clearly can't fullfil customers expectations. I have had a lit of subscriptions for makeup and beauty items, this by far was the worst I have ever encountered! I canceled my subscription and WILL NEVER USE THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY AGAIN!!!

We are terribly sorry to hear of your experience, and would love to help make things up to you. To provide a bit more clarity, the shipment of your first box will depend upon when you sign up in the month (although we are currently working on making technical updates to the system to ensure first time customers have their box ship within the first week of purchase as we do understand how eager customers are to receive their first shipment)! You can typically find the expected date of shipment on the checkout page, in our FAQ’s, or by emailing us directly. While we do see your box shipped in late January through USPS, it does appear it took a bit longer than usual to arrive at your doorstop. While we unfortunately do not have control over major shipping partners, we will be sure to relay this information to our head of fulfillment, and truly apologize for any disappointment this caused.

Regarding the samples included in each monthly box, each box will include 4-6 samples, depending on the size of the sample shipped. Typically, our sample sizes are travel sizes, but customers have the option to choose a full size item (and receive 4 items in total) or can choose one or two smaller sized items (such as standard packet sized samples) to receive 6 items in total. We provide our customization feature, to allow customers to choose the sample products and sizes right for them!

As we of course want every customer to love their experience with Birchbox, we will be reaching out to you directly as we would love nothing more than to make things up to you!

Zero stars

If I could give this company zero stars, I would.

From the outset, I was suspicious of this company's rebranding, and I should have gone with my gut. The only reason I pursued a subscription was an enjoyable experience in the past. Clearly this is NOT the same company!

Your boxes take FOREVER to receive, yet they waste no time in removing the funds from your bank account. After my first box (10/23) was FINALLY shipped out to me, I was so disappointed I canceled my subscription. Unfortunately for me, they had already taken payment for the next month's box (11/23). This box never shipped out, and a refund was never sent.

Whenever I reached out to "customer service", I received the same cut-and-paste answer from 3 different reps. No one was willing to return my money to me, and one rep even said that money was being used to ship out an additional box with items in it
that were not included in my first box. Are you kidding me?? I told them I didn't want another box, I just wanted a refund. Without them actually coming out and saying it, my money was forfeit because I canceled my subscription. I was offered promo codes instead of a solution, instead of the money I paid for a box I never received.

After this unfortunate experience, I opened a case with the Better Business Bureau, to no avail. Birchbox ignored their inquiry, and to this day I've never received my money.

Completely unacceptable, untrustworthy scam of a company.

While we do ask any monthly subscription cancellation take place prior to the subscription’s renewal date, if a customer forgets to cancel, we will always try to make an exception and retroactively cancel the subscription and refund the charge, as long as that month’s subscription box has not yet entered the fulfillment stage. Once the Monthly Beauty Box Order is created and ready to ship, it is too late to cancel the order with the fulfillment center, and any cancellation after will opt you out of renewal for the following month. If we are contacted about a Box Order which is confirmed as delivered by the courier, but which a customer communicates is not received, we will always send an immediate replacement box as quickly as possible. We are, typically, unable to provide a refund for a box which is confirmed as delivered by the courier, but of course we will make exceptions and look at the situation. Again, we would love to look into your case further if you are willing to contact us again.

We are also sorry to hear you were impacted by any shipping delay. To provide a bit more information, Birchbox has been assumed under new ownership after the previous ownership was facing a host of challenges that led to the need to suddenly and unexpectedly cease operations for nearly a year. The new owners (that’s our team!) recently acquired the assets of Birchbox and relaunched operations. Do NOT Trust this company

Really NOT impressed. I order my Birchbox on 11/07 & paid the annual membership. I was told 12/18 that my box "should" ship by the end of the week. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift. I was told by the chat customer service that they try their best to send out the boxes monthly but get behind at times. That is not ok, since it is a monthly membership. Since I paid for the full year (to get a discount) I have zero recourse. I am stuck because they will not give refunds.

Subscription is very disappointing

I’ve been a birchbox member for about 10 years. It has gone downhill since new owners took over and I don’t feel they’re being fair to the past members. They changed a lot and didn’t give the existing members a chance to say yes or no to their new way. It’s really been a nightmare. Membership is now $18 a month. Started out as $10 but $18 is a pretty big jump. Don’t know when I can edit my box as things are always changing so I get items that I don’t care for. I had $22 in my birchbox points account which came to be because I swapped for points back when that was an option so bitchbox received my monthly payment but now they changed the rules and now my $22 is down to under $5!! I tried to use my points many times but they were out of supply on everything so I couldn’t use my points. I use to love birchbox and bought it many times for gifts for friends and family. It’s a shame what it’s turned out to be and I am STUCK with being a member because I signed up for a 12 month membership back in 2022 and I can’t get out of it until I fulfill my payments for the 12 months. I do not and will not recommend Birchbox to anyone!

Response to Birchbox’s reply back to me: I was never given a fair notice about the increase in the monthly cost. It was changed in the middle of my yearly subscription.

We are so sorry to hear of any recent disappointment, as it is the last thing we would want. Since relaunching Birchbox, we have been pouring over past customer feedback with the goal of implementing changes for the better. To provide a bit more information, Birchbox was assumed under new ownership after the previous ownership suddenly and unexpectedly ceased operations for nearly a year. The new owners (that’s our team!) acquired the assets of Birchbox last summer and relaunched operations. Since relaunching our goal has been to make sure we bring operations back up to speed, ensure any boxes and orders that had been left unshipped by the previous ownership were received, and normalize renewal and shipping timelines.

Regarding the pricing update, it was necessary to increase the price of the membership ($3-$6 depending on the plan type), which had not been increased for several years. The pricing update, which took place last fall, ensures Birchbox can continue its successful path forward, offsetting the increased transportation and labor costs, while continuing to ensure an elevated selection of beauty products are curated every month. We were sure to notify all customers of this pricing prior to the next renewal charge. Lastly, at the time the previous ownership ceased operations, the Loyalty Program was ended. However, due to customer feedback we have received, we are working to relaunch an updated program as we do understand this was an important and valued perk in the community. We do sincerely hope we may win back such a loyal customer such as yourself.

Estafa total

Estafa total! Hice un pedido en noviembre 2022, llego unos 10 días después con productos rotos, abiertos. Escribo al Customer service y me llegó respuesta automática que habrían solucionado. Total desde el principio de diciembre no he tenido respuesta! El último mail que yo envié fue en Enero 2023. Vergüenza total! No compráis!

Unusable gift cards

Bought two $45 gift cards for the holidays. My recipients are not able to use them and there is no way to contact for a refund. Horrible that Walgreens was selling these gift cards for a service that is non-existent. Someone should be held accountable.

Han cerrado con dinero ajeno.

Me cobran la renovación semestral con un incremento de 10€ más, en total 70,20€ y encima no me mandan ni una sola caja más.
Son unos estafadores!!!! Quiero mi dinero.

Charged for October box that I never received

I subscribed to Birchbox for years. I never received my October box. Their customer support page on their website does not work so I'm not sure how to get a refund or even if I can. If they took all that $ from people and won't credit the boxes and other orders that people did, that is just sad. Hopefully that is not the case, but I read that they are considering Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Guess we'll see. In the meantime, I'll be disputing the charge from October.

I was charged for an October 22 box…

I was charged for an October 22 box that was never sent. It is now January 2023 and have yet to hear a word from Birchbox. I can no longer get into my account either. I keep getting the same generic reply whenever I try to contact them. After searching to see what was up thinking it was my card or something I didn't verify in my account, I found that many were charged by Birchbox in October for unreceived product and zero communication since. They seemed to have stolen money from many many customers. I also found out they were liquidating due to 'unprecedented' reasons and never relayed this to their customers while continuing to take money from them and not sending product. Disgusting thieves.
