Utterly awful. Received card, tried to register, says we don't have contact details for you, reverts back to the same screen. Tried to call, you just register/activate in the app, no options. Used live chat, you must log in to speak to an agent, can't log in as they won't let me register.

I have had multiple credit cards, never know such a farce. Other companies just sent you a code to your phone and email and away you go.

Useless. Cancelling.

This is the most stupid credit card I’ve ever had. They basically offer you a big balance which you can not use because of their useless fraud team. Took this card out for home improvements, made a couple of payments £100-£200 each with it, no issues. When I tried to buy a washing machine from Amazon they were keep declining my transaction regardless the fact that I was approving the transaction myself in the app. Called them and they’ve suspended my card without any reason “while they investigate”. The “team” which investigates don’t work weekends and my card has been suspended Thursday, here we go, is Saturday and now I’m still waiting until Monday at least to receive a phone call back from that mysterious team in relation to why my card has been suspended. I could not progress with my home improvements and lost £500 for their stupidity because I had a works man waiting to put laminate flooring in my flat but I couldn’t buy the laminate flooring as my card was disabled.

I called numerous times Friday and passed their security all the time, all sorts of questions about everything, relentless, nothing changed, just out of funds because of a stupid system.

I’ve got credit cards with all major banks, no issues whatsoever, this is the only time when a “bank” suspends my card without any reason.

Avoid at all cost and take a credit card from a real bank if possible.

I applied for an M&S personal loan advertised at a representative APR of 5.9%. I fully understand that a representative APR is not guaranteed and that the final rate depends on individual circumstances.

My issue is with how the application was handled.

M&S carried out a hard credit search and then referred my application for further review. I was told I would hear back within five working days. I waited the full five business days and received no decision, email or update.

I eventually contacted M&S myself, only to be told that my application had been approved at 13% APR. Had I not chased them, I have no idea when I would have been informed.

For comparison, I subsequently applied elsewhere and was approved immediately at 8.5%.

I am not complaining because M&S did not offer me the advertised 5.9%. I am complaining because they carried out a hard credit search, made a lending decision and then failed to communicate that decision to me within the timeframe they had given.

What made the experience worse was the complaints process. When I asked for a formal complaint to be logged about the way the application had been handled, the complaints adviser I spoke to refused to register it. The call became increasingly frustrating and ultimately went nowhere.

A disappointing experience from a major financial institution. I would be very reluctant to apply for credit with M&S Bank again.

I have had an M&S Rewards and credit card for a number of years and used it repeatedly while abroad this year. I have found that I am now unable to log in to my account on line and keep getting told to use the app. Despite apparently successful verification attempts these then fail and I cannot install the app or log into my account online.

Completely frustrated by repeated attempts, I cancelled my account two weeks ago, but have had no subsequent information or confirmation. The ‘help’ and ‘chat’ keep advising to ‘use the app’! Finally got through on the phone and, I hope, paid off the account in full. I have still not had a final statement or confirmation that my account has been closed. With no statement I have no way of checking that the transaction recorded are correct, or that my account has in fact been fully paid off.



Quite the worst and most frustrating online bank I’ve ever used and absolutely no credit to the M&S brand. I just hope that my account has been closed as instructed as I want nothing more to do with this bank. By comparison, the card I replaced it with, from a different ban, was delivered quickly, the app set up and written information and confirmation received within days.

I had a terrible time trying to set up the app with the self-id service, so I tried to use the chat function to get help. The automated service then told me that to get help with getting registered, I need to be registered, so I was unable to get any assistance.

I’ll keep this simple, just like the M&S app!!
Great piece of kit and a joy to use. Makes things so easy for me and basically find things in seconds!!!

Great credit must go to its creators.
Customer service, is excellent, and applications decisions dealt with swiftly!!
If only other bank cards were as smart to manage!

Do not use this bank for loans. I applied for a loan 95% pre approved with 5.9 APR and after the hard search on my account they changed to 14APR. DO NOT USE

Totaly fantastic balance transfer, the cost of transfer is one of the best, and truly you get what it says a 12 moth interest free is 12month, by reducing the highest interest payments first. Thank you M&S.

Wonderful service trouble free transfer

I applied for an M&S credit card because I planned to use it with their newly relaunched Sparks rewards scheme. I already have other credit cards.
However, I almost immediately stopped using the card because in order to pay off the balance I had to go through so MANY processes that I couldn't be bothered. It took far longer than the process for paying off my John Lewis credit card so I have now abandonned it

Of years I have always received very good service, easy to contact and very helpful staff. Highly recommend

This is with reference to a several pairs of trousers I bought a couple of years ago; they are wearing well and still are, a comfortable fit.
Being short in the leg I normally find it difficult to get a pair to fit, & have to have them shortened but have been able to get them from M&S.

I always use my M&S card when making especially, an online purchase.
I need to have peace of mind my purchases are safe.

no web service, since i dont use a amartphone all actions have to be done by phone, with lengthy introductions all the way along.

Since getting my card a couple of years ago it has been great to have as a very useful financial tool. I nearly always pay cash but have started often paying with my M & S bank card for the rewards. It's especially useful during the great M&S sales so that I don't miss out on the many, many bargains and then pay off the charges well within the time. Having this card makes me feel a little more secure too in the knowledge that M&S protects me from fraudulent use of my card too. Thank you.

Very pleased with M&S Bank so far, have been with them for many years and fortunately had no problems. Easy to use website to find all your transactions.
