Zapsplat has a library of high quality sound effects for various purposes, and most of them are also free for commercial use with crediting. Amazing site for game developers.

Thanks so much for your kind review
Largest number of superior sounds! Great website.
I have been a Gold member for a year. I always find the perfect sound. The quality of the sounds is excellent.
It's easy to find sounds because the owner of the ZapSplat gives super descriptions. He describes the sounds the way I would!
The website design is first class.
Today I wanted a new incoming email sound. I wanted a warm chime -- I found it is about 30 seconds.

Site not Free
All they wanted to do was sell me sounds. Only wanted the free one and nothing was available. Very hard to use the site unless you want to spend lots of money

Stewart - all our sounds are free, over 100,000 of them. Were you clicking on the "mp3" button to download? It sounds to me like you were clicking on the wrong button to download.
ZapSplat's the place for your sound effects needs
I am only dabbling with video and animations for a hobby, so building up a sound effect library moreover is just a pain. Having so many effects available, and for a fair fee if you're inclined, is gold!
