After receiving a very expensive quote from a local solicitors I found this website and as an administrator myself thought how hard can this be. I read the reviews and watched the video before I purchased to make sure it was right for me. I followed the on-line steps and filled in the questions so a little bit of time and effort is required. I had 2 x queries which were dealt with within the hour once on the phone and once by email. Once the forms were complete, I printed off and posted to HMCTS Probate. I had an email from them confirming receipt on 19th June and I received an email yesterday 26th June telling me Probate had been granted so this website has done exactly what I needed it to do.

Straightforward and easy to use, I'd recommend this to anyone.
I've had to apply for probate on an estate with various investments, property and outstanding tax. I entered all information over a couple of days, prompted by they software. I think it would be hard to go wrong.
I had questions answered very quickly either by phone or email.
There was a slight glitch which resulted in incorrect tax form generation. I sent a query in on a service ticket and got a phone call over a weekend that resolved everything.
My IHT400 and Probate were accepted and granted straight away.
Providing you have all information about the estate to hand, this makes it very easy.

I can’t rate YouCanDoProbate more highly. The estate I was dealing with was quite complicated and using a solicitor would have cost thousands. This was the first Probate I’d applied for. Initially, I assumed I’d have no choice but to go via a solicitor who would have asked me to gather all the information required yet charge thousands of pounds for the service. After carrying out further research online, I came across the YouCanDoProbate website, read their Trustpilot reviews and made some other sensible checks. I phoned them and had an initial conversation with Tom who was friendly and knowledgeable and asked several questions about the estate (it was over the individual IHT threshold but would be using the Transferable Nil Rate Band of a pre-deceased spouse) and he confirmed the platform would be able to deal with this. I was a little nervous initially about whether this was the right way forward but decided to go for it, signed up and paid the £499 fee which gave me access to the platform via my usual web browser so no special software needed.

From then on, it was a relatively straightforward administrative task of putting in the information required. I loved that it saved all the information so that if I was interrupted or had to stop, I could just go back to it later and pick up where I’d left off. It went through the estate details very logically – personal info of all those involved – the deceased, pre-deceased spouse, executors, beneficiaries then assets, liabilities, expenses, gifts etc. After filling in all the required information, the platform then generated the Estate Summary (in my case showing there was no inheritance tax to pay and confirming that I didn’t have to fill in a separate form to send to HMRC). It had autofilled all the relevant information I’d input in the previous sections and made all the calculations for me with a detailed breakdown as to how the figures were arrived at.

When I needed help and a bit of reassurance on 4 occasions via support ticket email, requesting a callback for a specific time or calling directly, Adam and Tom answered my queries quickly and knowledgeably and I was fully reassured that the forms had been completed correctly.

Once I was satisfied with the Estate Summary details, I was able to move on and the system generated the autofilled Probate form which I could download and print off for review before signing. If anything needed to be amended, it was possible to go back and do so throughout the entire process before completing one stage and moving on to another. While I chose to complete the forms over the course of several days, I think it would be possible to complete the whole process in a few hours if there were no interruptions.

On Thurs 28th May, I posted off the PA1P probate form with all the other relevant documents required including the probate fee postal orders (so no time waiting for a cheque to clear). I used the 1st class Royal Mail tracked service which was delivered the next day. I received an acknowledgement of receipt email on Mon 1 June with a reference number, another email on Tues 2 June confirming that Probate had been approved and, finally, on Thurs 4 June, I received the Grant of Probate letter in the post, 4 working days after sending off the application. I was expecting to have to wait 3 or 4 months for a response and am truly amazed at the speed of the turnaround.

I cannot thank YouCanDoProbate enough. It is an amazing service, worth every penny of the £499 cost and I highly recommend it.

Thoroughly recommended to do Probate yourself.
Very well supported by Probate experts on the end of the telephone. I phoned 4 times and nothing was to much trouble.
Reasonably simple forms to download and fill in. You can at any point return to the start and edit anything.
Even if you make a total hash of it you can start again as many times as you like.
It collates all the information you enter into the forms and then when you print it out it is in a recognised format for the HMCTS people.
If you are unsure just phone the help line and talk to an expert, if they bare busy they will call you back.
I applied for Probate on 29th April, on 12 May I had conformation that Probate had been granted and I would receive my Grant Of Probate paperwork within 10 working days.
You cant beat that, well worth the £499.

As someone who is experienced doing tax returns, I was determined to try and do probate without handing everything over to a solicitor. The probate government site overloads you with information, uses jargon, and can sometimes be vague about whether something applies or not. The YouCanDoProbate site uses a different approach - it asks questions and then quickly works out which forms do (and critically which forms do not) apply. The support service was excellent - I had a crisis of confidence and they helped me through (thank you, Tom). This is not an easy option though - you are still doing all the work with the figures, but YCDP can help you navigate the system and keep you on track.

It has been a real game-changer streamlined the process and lifted the burden of endless paperwork. It’s straightforward and took away so much stress from dealing with probate during a difficult time. Huge shout out to Tom for his patience and clear guidance; he made everything feel manageable and approachable. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine going through this without their support. We were quoted around £6,000 from lawyers! The Probate Office needs to help us out more by referring everyone to this site!

I signed up with trepidation having never had to do this before!! However I managed all the form filling with ease and much to my surprise did not have to telephone for help once. I am 70 years of age and would not describe myself as a computer expert in anyway and am a bit of a dinosaur!
I would not hesitate to use this service again and will certainly recommend it if asked.
For the record I received official notification and paperwork from HMC and Justices that probate had been granted within 21 days of posting the forms.
Perhaps I was lucky but this service was idiot proof and saved me the cost of a solicitor.

Saved a lot of expense using YouCanDoProbate. Everything is easy to follow, could not have been simpler. You answer the questions, you print the generated forms, you send them off. Very glad I used this service.

My dad passed away in December and to save money, because his Estate appeared quite straightforward I opted to take on the role of Executor. Fantastic service. Extremely clearly laid out, very intuitive and lots of online help. I used the contact twice: once promptly answered via email, the second via a booked appt - again very polite and incredibly helpful.

I took my time over entering and double-checking details but, from beginning to end (IHT done and probate in hand) took 10 weeks including turnaround time for documents. Great value for money and strongly recommended.

This service isn't easy but it is brilliant! From our previous experience of using a solicitor for probate, who asked us to do 80% of the work, searching for bank records, certificates etc. etc. this service was difficult, not easy, but well worth it! The support team are excellent and help with those questions you can't easily answer. Google helps immensely also. But the real benefit is saving at least 2% up to 5% of an inheritance. That would be most of one of my late mother-in-law's grandkids inheritance. Bargain price makes it worth it! I am happy to strongly recommend this excellent service!

The set was easy to access and user friendly. It was good to be able to go in and out of the site to input data as it became available. The phone line was an additional help to guide me through.

Apart from having to understand some legal terminology and having to wait for Tom to explain.once he called it all went well, makes you realise that solicitors get paid well Too well! A good system.

Having spoken to HMRC for advice following the death of my Mum they told me what forms I needed…. the forms were multiple, long and confusing as where the notes to help you fill in the forms !!!
This platform just seemed too good to be true which is what I said to Tom when I phoned to enquire . He was very informative and reassuring about how and why it works and reassured me there is constant support during the whole process of completion.
I sat with the HMRC forms one more time, gave up again and then I registered on the platform which took minutes , paid my £499 and I never looked back .
It really does all the work for you and yes on the couple of occasions I did need guidance Tom was there calling me back after logging a support call within half an hour .
Completed the platform …. Probate forms then all printed off from the information you have already input and then just a trip to the post office to post and then peace of mind !!
Now I’m just waiting for it to be processed by the Probate office .
