How was such a company allowed to operate
Irrelevant to write a review so late I suppose, however I faced fraudulent activity from this company. It resulted in a loss of 5k British pounds with no ownership being taken by the company. After 8 months of trying to resolve it, they have filed for bankruptcy.
I paid 90€ for nothing!
Here is how they scammed me:
I booked an apartment for one month, two months in advance. I received an email stating that I needed to wait for the landlord's approval. The next day, I got an email saying, "Your apartment request in S... has been accepted by the landlord". Everything seemed fine. I did not need to enter any new data and could not make any changes.
I put in my credit card number again and clicked on "Complete booking" as I had thoroughly checked everything the day before.
I went to the "Booking complete" screen and was shocked to find that my rent starts in two weeks (1.5 months earlier than I requested) and last for 4 months instead of one!
This is absolutely not what I have requested!
But because it is less than a month away, they directly booked the money for the first month of my card and a applied a cancelation fee. To cancel, I would have to pay the first month's rent!
That is just a scam!
I don't know why it would be called "Your apartment request in S... has been accepted by the landlord" as I later found hidden somewhere on the platform that my request was declined by the landlord and they put up a new request (even with a new booking ID). This is just absolutely not my request on any level, as claimed in the E-mail.
I contacted customer support and requested the same-day cancelation. But this costs 90€, as the move in date was less than one month away 🙄
The unhelpful and slow customer support, the significant date change that forces me to pay a cancelation fee, and the direct payment on my card, plus how a completely new offer is portrayed as "my request," make me doubt their good intentions.
Reading through the negative reviews here shows me that I am not the only one. If it happens to you, reach out to verbraucherzentrale .de/beschwerde as it is a German company.
TLDR:
This is a platform used to professionally SCAM people and make money with it!

Homelike Shut Down and Left Me Without a Refund
I paid for an apartment through Homelike, and a month later the landlord contacted me saying that Homelike had stopped paying them and that I should request a refund. Since then, I’ve been trying to get my money back but there is absolutely no customer support or response from Homelike.
They’ve completely abandoned clients with valid bookings and are offering no solution. Be very careful with this company.
Betrieb eingestellt
Bei der Buchung hat alles gepasst. Allerdings ist die Firma insolvent gegangen und hat den Betrieb eingestellt. Leider konnte ich nicht wie geplant in meinem Zimmer einziehen und hatte keine Möglichkeit mich an den Support zu wenden, da es Homelike nicht mehr gibt. Mein Geld ist auch noch nicht beim Vermieter angekommen.

Das war das Schlimmste, was ich je erlebt habe…., unbewohnbar, ein Appartement im Ghetto, Hilfe gesucht auf WhatsApp, keine Antwort, 11 Stock, Fahrstühle defekt, völlig veraltet, Flure vermüllt, Drogen, in den Fluren, und dann fast 1000,- Euro, 1990,- Kaution!!!!sind nach 1 schlimmen Nacht ( bzw. mein Sohn habe ich nach 1 Nacht da wieder ausgeholt

Hände weg!! Wohnung gebucht, Fr. 6'000 vorausbezahlt, dann kurz vor Mietantritt Nachricht erhalten von Homelike dass Betrieb per sofort eingestellt ist. Weder Homelike noch Vermieter kontaktierbar! Das ist Betrug vom Feinsten.

It has been my experience that Homelike represents dishonest rental agencies in Spain, specifically Elevenhost.es. The Spanish agency has failed to respond to my numerous texts, emails, and telephone calls requesting that my security deposit be returned in its entirety, since there was no damage to the property. I made a booking on January for an apartment in Madrid for June 2025. A paid the full rent. The Landlord has noticed me and Homelike that she will sell the apartment, and cannot rent it on June. She asked Homelike to refund me, but there are no answers.

Ich habe eine Wohnung in Amsterdam gebucht. Ca eine Woche vor der geplanten Anreise. Die Miete für den ersten Monat wurde sofort von meiner Kreditkarte abgebucht. Als ich den Vermieter kontaktiert habe, teilte dieser mir mit, dass er meine Buchung bereits storniert habe. Daraufhin versuchte ich, homelike zu kontaktieren, um die Situation zu klären. Während einer Woche schrieb ich mehrere E- Mails und Whattsapps, füllte Kontaktformulare aus und hinterließ Nachrichten auf Mailboxen, da nie ein telefonischer Ansprechpartner verfügbar war.
Homelike hat bis heute nicht reagiert. Mein Einzugdatum wäre vor drei Tagen gewesen. Meine über 4500,- Euro haben Sie auch noch.
Ich kann nur sagen: schlechtester Service ever! Und- ich will mein Geld zurück!

Mich freut das total hoffentlich gibt es auch anhängige Verfahren durch diverse Kläger, nice ist das sie vor Tagen meine Bewertungen haben löschen lassen. Derjenige wird hoffentlich auch zum Amt müssen. Yes!!!

I was a landlord with homelike, and I have to say they are totally unprofessional in comparison to Wunderflats. Contacting them on the phone is not possible. They don't respond to e-mails, despite repeated attempts. Their incompetence has cost me thousands. I do not recommend them at all.
