I'm not a regular reviewer, but I feel I need to step in to defend Tetley teabags amongst a barrage of complaints. When they changed the packaging to cardboard boxes from the laminated plastic wrapping, I was worried that the bags would suffer from a deterioration in freshness and taste. However, as a long-term Tetley teabag drinker, I'm glad to say that I found no dropping of standards and I've waited several months before reviewing. Tetley teabags still provide a refreshing, delicious cup of tea. There is plenty of flavour, with leafy notes and good body. Like some other detractors I tried other more expensive brands to compare, but untypically found that Tetley compared well. I hope Tetley are not put off by the knockers and continue to provide a great product at a low price.

I've been complaining about the taste of my tea for days, we're using Tetley tea bags, and thought it was me. Every cup I made just tasted dreadful and just like dishwater. There is no flavour and I have blamed the kettle, my mouth, the water, the milk and then I looked it up and found these reviews. So glad I did, as will not even wait for packet to finish, life's too short for bad tea!!

Have drank Tetley tea for 40+ years, sad to say the changes they've made have put me off tea altogether, the taste is vile. I'm theorising Tetley are doing what most companies are doing these days, upping the price and reducing the content. Is it worth losing most of your customers??

Terrible taste horrible bags ill keep ordering irish tea bags only tried it once definitely not strong its swish water

Don't know what Tetley are playing at, my teabags are constantly bursting and the tea tastes vile, full of tannin to make it brown but no tea flavour!!!! And to add insult, I'm sure they pop a few of the old style teabags in the box as you get one enjoyable cup in about ten, need to start looking at other brands and that's really annoying as I've only ever bout tetley, This has been going on for the last couple of years but you keep purchasing them hoping it was just a dodgy batch but enough is enough.

I have been a Tetley tea drinker for 45 years and I am sad to say I will not be buying them again! I have had to change to Twinings Everyday as I don’t like PG or Yorkshire Tea
The past few months the tea is bitter and weak, just an awful taste, thought I had a bad box at first but NO!! I’ve purchased more and they are all the same, my mom who is 84 has even noticed and is not happy, I also see It’s not just me and my mom after googling it. Sorry Tetley I have always chosen you but you have let us down badly and I will not be buying your tea bags again. Acrid taste and the bags look cheap and nasty
Very dissapointed

Just bought 4 packets (240) of Tetley T bags from Iceland. The new paper on tea bags is so flimsy. When you squeeze the tea bag in the cup the paper tea bag is breaking leaving you with tea leaves at bottom of cup. Flavour of tea is not of normal standard used Tetley since married 38 years. Once the tea bags have been used up will be changing to Yorkshire Tea. Will call customer services number to make a complaint. Still got 3 boxes left if they reimburse me they can have them back.

Tried tetley one cup bags...... Dont bother they are awful, no taste, weak. Takes 2 bags to make a reasonable cup. Will be looking for another brand for sure in future.

Tetley used to be my tea of choice with great flavour and strength. Now it's terrible. I have had to use 2 teabags to get enough strength and even then the flavour is poor. Getting through the last of the tea bags I vowed to never drink Tetley tea again. From the general consensus looks like I am not alone. Won't be long before Tetley goes out of business if they don't fix their teabags.

Something has changed ……. And not for the better. I absolutely hate the taste changed taste and the smell is awful, smells musty and unpleasant. Won’t be buying again

No longer value as price keeps going up. £7.80 for bag of 400 so for first time I switched and bought Typhoo bag of 440 [40 tea bags more] which was £3 cheaper.

The new bags tear if you look at them have been using tetley for years if the dont fix problem soon im out

I have always drunk Tetley tea bags but the new version is horrendous, like dirty dishwater. I thought it was just a rogue packet so tried another shop but the problem is the teabags themselves. Tetley have clearly used the new packaging launch to also surreptitiously downgrade the quality of the tea. It's undrinkable. This is a kick in the teeth of their loyal customers. From now on I'll buy Twinings English Breakfast Tea which is the closest dupe. Tetley have made a big mistake by annoying the tea drinkers of the UK. The consequences will be felt in their profit margin and they will realise that saving a few pence on the quality of the tea has cost them dearly.

I honestly don’t know how they can call this a tea bag should be renamed bag with hint of tea.
The tea quantity in these teabags is absolutely crap . Also there’s a strange taste to them aswell leaving your mouth feeling strange after having a drink .
I emailed there customer service to complain and not even a reply back .
Dreadful teabags with dreadful customer service .
Don’t waste your money on Tetley find another brand .

As a long time user of Tetley teabags, I thought my tastebuds had changed recently as the tea tastes, disgusting. I am pleased to see other people are finding the same issue. Unless Tetley put out a reply, then I will be switching brands, it definitely no longer tastes the same.

too weak and to start your comment board :what went wrong this time just sounds arrogent ,so ile tell you then,just like every other large company youve turned to shrinkflation:the flavor is gone and so are we 65 years old and me and my wife have seen it all, you up the price spend a fortune on rubbish advertising and charge more,weve been drinking this tea forever,but not anymore ,your smug now but things will change they always do ,of course you wont listen so bye bye were off to find strong tea put the kettle on and up yours

Whatever it is they've done to the actual tea in the bags, it really is horrible. There's a soapy taste to it and it is not good. I approve of the new packaging but if the contents inside are undrinkable, what's the point? Been drinking Tetley for years, not any more though.

I so glad I've looked into this and read other people's comments as I though it was me. Both myself and my hubby have been and bought a new kettle and a new packet of tea thinking it was the water or old kettle syndrome that was making it taste gross.

I, along with many others here, have noticed a massive decline in the quality of the taste of the tea. A lot say it is weak and no flavour which I can understand but the flavour I can taste coming through is like stagnant water, I can't stand the smell either. It was such a shock to me that I thought I had covid. Would also recommend Yorkshire Tea going forwards.
