Story ordered one of our options wrong.
The options sheet was not clear when we were signing. So, at the time we thought we were signing for what we had asked for as it just had ''the room'' rather than exact location. (It was the Cheapest item we have upgraded £100) we have spent over £20,000 on extras in total + the house cost.

On seeing the house 3weeks before completion we let the sales team know we had noticed the error and explained we thought the sales person had put the order through wrong.
The response we got back was. You've signed the options form, so ''we'll just have the leave it''. We have gone through the complaints process. It has been shut down and again. Reason - You've signed for it. It is something so minor that could have been resolved so easily. We have spoken with Consumer Code for Home Builders Team they have suggested that Story have breached several parts of the code including Sales and Advertising and Pre-contract information. We are now applying to the Independent Dispute Resolution Scheme. We really did not want to do any of this. We just wanted what we asked for in our appointment.

It has been an awful experience. If we had not paid nearly £50,000 to Story up till that point, with deposits and extras we would have pulled out.

I am also aware there has been several issues with the houses around us which makes us worry with the quality of the build on our site. I was also told about the number of accidents and poor health and safety on site too.

We had a snagger pick up so many issues in the house. We wish we had not chosen Story. I doubt these will even be resolved. I dread to think what will happen if there is anything major.

What was meant to be an exciting move into a new build has been an awful.
Overall a dreadful experience. Horrendous customer care. They are very happy to take your money but, they do not care when they have made an error, however minor.

As first-time buyers, we really appreciated how comfortable and confident he made us feel. This was my second time viewing the Dawson show home, and once again, the whole experience was so warm and welcoming. Having the Dawson show home so close to where we live has been a huge help, as it has given us the opportunity to see and get a real feel for what our own home will be like when we move in January 2027.

We’re really looking forward to seeing our new home take shape, and I’ll definitely be back to show other family members what our future home will look like. Thank you again to Amanda and Lisa for making our visits such a lovely experience.

Working with fiona was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Buying a home can be stressful, but she made the entire process seamless and straightforward.

Ruby ~ is incredible at what she does. She has been absolutely outstanding. Every query has been answered with ease and she has the professional rapport with you that means everything is under control. She has gone above and beyond and made the experience for us completely seamless. Nothing is too much to ask and she has given us the time we need to ask as many questions and keep us in the loop. Ruby you are 10 out of 10 no doubt about it!

We came to see the Dawson show home which was fantastic - we’re buying a Dawson in Penrith, so it was super helpful to see the space and get a feel for the rooms! Amanda and Lisa were fabulous and encouraged us to take flooring samples into the show home to help finalise our flooring choices which was amazing. We really appreciate all your help and advice!

The atmosphere was amazing and it really made me feel like I was at home. I only came for a look around but now I feel like I want to buy.

Staff - Robert, Lisa & Amanda were pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They were not pushy. We were offered wine, soft drinks and cake on arrival. It was good to visit a townhouse as a show house as lots of people are interested in this style of house -smaller than usual show houses. The Dawson was finished to a high standard including solar panels and an electric car charging point.

I was fortunate in the extreme not only to acquire a house through Story Homes but also to be allowed to deal with Amanda and Robert for the initial discussions regarding the property. Both handled these with professionalism and courtesy while maintaining a light hearted and down to earth demeanor throughout. Looking forward to the follow-up meeting and to finalising everything with Story Homes for what I hope and expect will be a smooth process throughout. We decided to consider a Story Homes house and recently put a deposit on a new Dawson at Scotby Grove..
From our 1st visit to yesterday’s open house viewing that has helped us realize the true potential in terms of decor etc while reaffirming our decision to buy,.. Cant overstate how welcoming, helpful and professional sales executive Amanda and team have been throughout.
Amanda’s been fantastic, nothings ever a bother…
