A week spent at Grange Norton , IoW with Shearings
Fantastic. Staff at Grange Norton were excellent. Good choice of food every night , entertainment at night enjoyable. Facilities excellent . Our coach driver was very friendly and helpful . The trips out were brilliant . My only issue was first day , even though we arrived at the time Shearings said we would . Around 6.45pm , it only gave us 30 minutes to check in and get ready for our evening meal . It would be better going forward to aim to arrive about 5pm . But other than that , a very enjoyable week I have had .

I called on a Saturday and spoke with Josh. He was very professional and helpful. I raised a query about the holiday that he needed to clarify with another department (no Saturday team). Waverley Steam Boat
Booking was easy and when I spoke with an agent they were very helpful. We made our own way to London as there were very few pick up points especially local to us. Met the driver for info for next morning. Very early pick up time and then he was late! The driver was apologetic and got us to our destination as planned with time to grab a coffee before boarding the boat. Lovely trip down the Thames on a classic old boat but anyone wanting to board at Tilbury docks was disappointed as there was no staff there to catch ropes etc for mooring and we couldn’t pick people up or let anyone leave the boat ( I would imagine there were people who would have missed out on a round trip so would be very disappointed) Docked at Southend pier and were unable to catch the land train down the pier as so many people got off. We walked the 1.3 miles in the time it took the train to go down and back up the pier and we stopped a few times. People with disability’s would have found standing in line for about 3/4 hour hard (as would I) with very little seating.
Driver was at meeting point and ready on time getting us back to the hotel promptly.
Overall a good day out and a good experience from booking to the day, hotel was adequate but a bit away from anywhere. My criticism is that if you aren’t travelling with the coach (due to lack of pick up points) a discount should be available as we paid for train travel on top of the cost of the trip.
