I have just spent the last 8-weeks shopping for a total house Refurb and I couldn’t fault the staff at Selco, close to the Hanger Lane Gyratory roundabout. All the staff are helpful and do their best to help, but there is one star that outshines them all. If you want genuine help, knowledge and service, you should seek out Rumit, an absolute star. As a novice, trying to procure materials and tools to assist my team of builders, I could not have asked for more. 10 out of 10.

superb service and very knowledgable staff

We brought an extractor unit 3 months ago, which has stopped working, we paid for our electrician to check the connections & he diagnosed a faulty extractor unit.
Took the unit & the receipt back to Selco Portsmouth whereby I was giving a load of excuses as to why they couldn’t do a straight swap or refund, they had to ‘gain’ a code from the manufacturer I was held up in the store for 45 minutes and came out with no extractor or refund, I was told that Selco’s T&C’s override’s the 2015 Consumer rights act that says a consumer is entitled to an exchange or refund as the contract is with the STORE, NOT the manufacturer.
Selco have informed us today that we have to pick up the faulty unit have it reinstalled at our cost and then the manufacturer can send someone out to repair!!
As a woman being dealt with by 2 operatives who had zero interest in trying to resolve the issue, I walked away feeling belittled and that my complaint was not taken seriously at all.
I’m actually disgusted by the way I have been treated, and information given today just backs up the pack of lies given by the operatives on my initial visit.
Shame on you Selco, abysmal behaviour. I would not buy from this company again as they seem to make up a load of misinformation to suit themselves and themselves only, lovely way to treat your lowly customers.

Went to Selco, Mitcham on Tuesday 23/6/2026 with my colleague.
The checkout cashier we initially went to,said she was still serving a customer. While waiting and chatting with my colleague, another male staff came to open up another checkout terminal. He turned to me and said "what are you saying asxhole"
I was shocked and confused. I asked him if he was talking to me,he said yes.I asked him why the asxhole? He just laughed in my face. Another staff member came up and started harassing us, asking why I put the camera in his face and why was I recording the incident. (He's standing nearly 2mtrs away from me) We told him it was for our safety and evidence. He went outside. We finished our business rolled our goods to the car. The Selco staff that went out earlier came up to us in the carpark shouting and harassing us ,wanting to view my video recording, I refused. He then threatened to take my phone. His colleague came out to ask him to get back inside the warehouse.
The deputy store manager witnessed a large part of what happened, he said he's looking into the incident and will get back to me..
I am still traumatised.

Selco, St Albans, I must leave a review for the staff at St Albans branch Selco. I have been in this store a few times now and can honestly say they are so helpful and always ready to assist, sawing wood so you can fit in your car. Offering advice and ready to help. The best customer service experience I have received for a long time and a credit to the Selco name.

Really helpful staff, Penny at the Nottingham branch is so helpful always wears a smile on her face.

Dhruv Shah in Kingston branch was really polite and gentle. He return my goods and replace them. The delivery was very smooth and he called me back to confirm if the products have been delivered.

Just the best team in the building supply trade.

1st visit, looked online at 25kg bags of ballest £1.90,went to store £3.60,spoke to sales and they said its different prices, according to where you pick up. Misleading!
2nd visit, I went for cement, big advert outside store £5.25 a bag. Went and got 2 bags, and charged over £16,asked why, and told I had picked weather proof bags, and not paper bags, sale looked to see if they had stock, 120 bags, but for delivery only. Sales asked manager if they could get some down off top racking, but declined, saying I would only save a couple of quid, and wouldn't be worth it. It would of been over £8.
Darlaston building supplies is far more helpful, cheaper and open on a Sunday.

I would like to leave a big thank you to Rumit at Selco Hanger Lane. He is always extremely helpful, organised, and knowledgeable about the right materials and tools for the job. Whenever something isn’t immediately available, he goes the extra mile by contacting suppliers and doing everything he can to find the best solution.

His customer service is outstanding, and it’s clear that he genuinely cares about helping customers get what they need. Nothing seems too much trouble, and his professionalism and positive attitude make every visit easier and more productive.

Rumit is a real asset to the team, and I highly recommend him to anyone visiting Selco Hanger Lane. Thank you for all your hard work and support.

selco catford. I went there to buy some plywood 5.5 mil planning to use the cutting service the advertise on Google having the 2.4 by 1.2 meter boards cut into four board 1.2 by 0.6 meter but they didn't have anybody who could cut it for me so since they sell already cut 1.2 by 0.6 meters boards at a higher price I ask them to sell me these boards at the same price of the bigger ones since it was therefore fault not being able to offer me the cutting service. not only they refused but they were also very unfriendly

Lukas at Kingston Selco helped package up my items so they was easily transportable. I didnt have a van and needed it quickly so couldnt wait for a delivery slot. Very kind gesture, that made my day.

What a service, what a company! As always a great customer service from the Milton Keynes branch. The knowledge is impeccable - If i am ever stuck for materials, these guys are my go to. Always upfront and communicate well with regards to ETA's and deliveries. Highly recommend Milton Keynes to anyone in the Trade!

Fantastic service and very dog friendly company

All the staff i spoke to were wonderfull. They all helped me so much. wonderful staff working there. Was a pleasure to visit and got everything i wanted even bought 4 bags of topsoil that were on offer well done Selco.

Material prices need to be more competitive especially on everyday materials timber as well I can get discount in most mayor building suppliers if I ask for better prices I spend about 40.000.00p a year at jewso cos they will do there best on prices for me

Have used Selco for a while now, and they always provide good service. Vimla especially always goes beyond in assisting with orders, and booking prompt delivery. She has a warm friendly nature, and is always a pleasure to speak to, so much so that we personally ask for her for every order we place. As a repeat and valued customer, it’s reassuring and endearing when she recognises us and already knows our company. She gives us good customer service and advice.
