Good service

The experience I had from when I saw the car online, to the day I took it home, was seamless. I was kept up to date as to what was happening to my vehicle and when it would be ready for collection. I would definitely recommend McCarthy Cars to all. The staff are all lovely and can't do enough for you.

I purchased a Jaguar I-PACE from McCarthy Cars on 5th December 2025. I urgently needed a reliable vehicle due to a family bereavement, and travelling over the Christmas period to assist with arrangements and visiting family.

The initial sales experience was positive — Steve handled the sale professionally and provided good service throughout.

Unfortunately, within three weeks the vehicle developed multiple faults. It would only charge to approximately 70%, providing around 138 miles of range due to battery and traction issues. Even at 100% charge, it did not achieve the 250–260 miles of range I had been advised to expect. I also experienced repeated difficulties charging the vehicle at multiple charging stations.

On one occasion, I had to return to McCarthy Cars simply to charge the vehicle as a last attempt before the battery ran out. I was forced to leave the car there for several hours to charge and return later to collect it, which was highly inconvenient.

Given the ongoing issues and the fact I required dependable transport during an already difficult time — including two bereavements in my family — I formally rejected the vehicle on 28th December 2025.

I sent emails and followed up several days later, yet received no acknowledgement, no apology, and no response. After approximately five emails, Steve contacted me to confirm he had forwarded my concerns to the relevant team. However, beyond that, there was no proactive communication.

I spent weeks chasing for clarity on the rejection process, how to return the vehicle, and what steps were required to resolve the matter. With no guidance provided, I eventually informed the dealership that I would be returning the vehicle on 23rd January, as no date or clear instruction had been given.

During this time, I was also in contact with the finance company, MotoNovo Finance, who advised that they too were experiencing difficulty obtaining communication from the dealership.

While my deposit has now been refunded by the dealership, the process of unwinding the finance agreement and receiving a refund for my monthly payments remains delayed due to ongoing communication issues, including confirmation of receipt of the keys and V5 documentation by the dealership. I formally rejected the vehicle on 28th December, and as of 18th February this matter is still not fully resolved.

During a period of bereavement, the additional stress of repeatedly chasing basic communication — while being left with a vehicle I could not reliably use for its intended purpose — made the situation significantly more difficult than it needed to be.

I hope this feedback encourages improvements in vehicle checks, transparency regarding expected range, and most importantly, after-sales customer communication. This situation could have been handled far more effectively. Being repeatedly ignored despite sending multiple emails falls well below the standard I expected when purchasing from a reputable company.

Buying my son’s first car was a huge deal as not only do I want him to be safe on the road, but want whatever he’s driving to be safe on the road also. The purchase was seamless with Steve who has years of experience, was friendly, super knowledgable and answered any questions I had thoroughly and with so much detail.

I felt confident buying from him as he spoke with pride of his company, the way they do things ensuring their cars are checked thoroughly, cleaned and buffed (even alloys), to ensure the customer gets the best version of the car when they see it.

I trusted what he was saying - he was so patient and I felt he could feel how important this purchase was, and I was very happy to pay for the car with extras in cash after the test drive on the day.

I would definitely by from this company again and in particular, from Steve - thank you,so much, my son loves his car☺️

I liked everything apart from that he fact I am still waiting for the service history that I was promised but have yet to receive

Friendly, helpful, no pressure from start to finish during the sales process from Julian . He dealt with all the necessary paperwork with our part exchange and new car purchase. All our requests were carried out and we were very satisfied on collection.

I have just had to spend £354.28 having new front discs and pads fitted to my car. Having been told by the dealer that they had put new pads on the car before I purchased it..something that doesn't make sense on worn discs. So very disappointed that after a month, I have had to spend all this money.

Very courteous sales person called Steve looked after us through the whole process from beginning to end. He was very helpful and polite, he made us very welcoming and knew a lot about the car.
