Really good product. Had a small problem (slipped gear) but Duncan came out and sorted without fuss under warranty. Impressive service from him which was much appreciated.

After looking at many options for an electric loft ladder, I came across the Loftomattic and reached out to the company's support team to ask many questions to which I was reassured that it would indeed fit into the loft hatch opening.

I have to say that upon opening the box for fitting several months later, due to building issues it was found that some fittings were unfortunately missing and a call to customer service was quick and simple, Max provided exemplary customer service and promptly sent the missing components (they arrived next day)... how I wish all companies provided Max's level of customer service and he is indeed a great asset to Loftomattic.

Once fitted and setup the Loftomattic product, I have to say is amazing and does EVERYTHING that is promised, it's stable and solid and even our cat has now got used to running up and down to the loft using it.

If you're looking for an electric loft ladder solution at a realistic price that does everything then the Loftomattic is it and I would thoroughly recommend it all day long, however, like every product it needs great support when issues are encountered and I have to say this has that too!!

I look forward to seeing how they improve this product over the next few years... can they make it any better?

When my ladder jammed partially open I got no worth while customer support. Requested advice many times during a three week period and my calls and messages remained un answered. Frustrated, I ordered a new ladder on Monday 21st July and within a couple of days I was messaged that it would be delivered on Thursday 24th July, however I did not know if it was to be installed or if I had to DIY. Ladder was installed as stated but the instruction manual references the old product. Also, there is no information on the remote controller unit and nothing available on your website. To conclude the new product appears to show design improvements, is quieter and hopefully has better reliability. I repeat customer support is almost non existent and I am unlikely to recommend the product to others.

Easy to install but i ordered 9 step which was at the limit and should have been a 10 step to make it work correctly. I miss read the ordering instructions

Update May 2026:

Having finished my original review saying that the ladder was being consigned to the bin, with the help of our friendly local maintenance man, we actually got the ladder to behave as actually intended and happily left it stowed away in the loft hatch.

HOWEVER: Yesterday we operated the ladder again yesterday and happily watched it descend and come to rest in the expected place. Items were removed from the loft and we watched in awe as it made its
way home. Except it didn’t! It became twisted and misaligned and we experienced again the previously experienced grating sound of metal colliding with metal. We’ve had enough of this poorly designed and poorly supported expensive piece of junk.

Unfortunately we have had nothing but problems with our Loftomattic ladder. Whilst some reviewers have had a great experience there are quite a few who have not! The first issue encountered is the motor; used from time to time I’m sure it’s ok however it will cut out after a few open/close cycles which can make adjusting the ladder a long and frustrating process.

Having set the ladder up according to the instructions everything was ok for a while however the ladder then became twisted and could not retract fully as it was misaligned. Others appear to have had this problem and apparently received no assistance from the manufacturer.

I did receive a response which advised that they MAY be able to fix it but wanted £100 to send somebody out. Given that I could not have any confidence in their ability to fix it I stated that I had already wasted a lot of money on the ladder and would not spend a penny more! Nothing further was heard from the company.

My advice would be that before purchasing an electric loft ladder one should contact a couple of installers to see what their experience of different models was and what they would recommend.

Sadly our ladder is being consigned to the skip and replaced with a manual model.

So, the ladder itself is an absolute genius piece of technology and for what I wanted it fits the bill perfectly. The ladder has given me the ability to access my loft by utilising 2 remotes, one where I can close behind me and 1 where I can have it opened from below. Only thing I would add to this is it could do with some kid of backup battery it could plug into if there were ever a power cut.

Great product and Max always happy to answer any questions.

We have been waiting for Max and Michael to follow up on our request for product support since October 2024. Like so many reviewers here, our ladder is jammed and is blocking our hallway and my son's bedroom door. It can no longer be elevated. Apart from this appalling customer service, we were so happy with the product, so this is extremely disappointing.

I will remove this review once you have made contact with us and the ladder has been fixed.

it took a few days more to come than i expected, it all works as it should only bad point is the video shows it with loft hatch witch doesnt come with it

It's now 2 months since our ladder developed a fault (December 2024) and now it cannot extend/retract without jamming and getting twisted (still within the warranty period). After many emails/calls/messages I eventually got hold of Max, who promised to send some parts that would fix the issue - but I've been unable to reach him since and have not received the parts.

I have never resorted to leaving a negative review like this before, but am so frustrated at the lack of support I'm not sure what else to do - I've given Loftomattic many many opportunities to help me fix it. I guess I'll have to take it to the small claims court next.

My advice is; although the product is great when it works (which it did for 15 months), it is a nightmare if it develops a fault (it's been stuck half extended in our hallway for 2 months).

Max - I'll be happy to update this review if you can please just get back in touch and do what you said you would.

UPDATE May 2025: Loftomattic finally sent a replacement ladder in April 2025 which I have replaced the faulty ladder with. Fingers crossed it lasts better than the first one..... As I said in my original review; it's a great product, just so long as it doesn't develop a fault! Since it finally got resolved, I have increased my rating from 1 star to 3 stars.

I would highly recommend Loftomattic.Their electric ladders are so convenient to give loft access, particularly for older people.Their prices are very reasonable compared with other companies and the after sales service is excellent.

I have had my ladder since 2020 and have been pleased with it, but it is now jamming and not opening properly. Tried emailing telephoning all hours, but no response. Please can any body advise what has happened. Very bad service from Techstep.

DIY fitted this ok using the video but there's very little info on the trapdoor. Loftomatic do one, but I asked for more info about how to fit and modify it, no response. I'm having to work this out myself. Also loftomatic do give a recommended minimum size loft aperture, but its not large enough. You need a bigger space because the ladder itself uses space not leaving enough for you. Minimum is realistically about a metre.

OK to start it's a amazing piece of kit. Unfortunately the lack of being able to buy spare parts or get any assistance videos on line is a real let down especially since it's really hard to get in touch with anyone in person.
Ours worked great until it started jamming at one side at first I thought it was the plastic runners on the back so tried emailing the company for spares after looking on the Internet for help or spares
Left it a day then tried ringing no one answering all day so messaged them on FB as well still no reply after 5 days
In the end up I took it apart myself to find the aluminium on the bottom runners was digging in when trying to come down easy fix sand smooth with wet and dry and lubricant with wd white lithium grease now works better then new.
It would have just been nice to get in tooch with some one to talk it through

I would like to stress hope disappointed i am in your product we purchased this and installed it as per instructions from Max. The product did work then we had to get Max out as the ladders stopped half way down ad the clips on either side of the steps were jamming. Now we have a problem were the frame is becoming twisted and the ladders won't go all the way down it's as though the clips are jamming again and the belt on pulling the ladders to one side. As the product is not performing to how it should and I have read reviews and a few people have had the same problem I would like the product to be refunded as this is item is not performing/working to its spec. I have asked for the money to be refunded as the product had failed we will see what happens

Great. Max was really helpful and got me fixed up very quickly. Thanks to him it is working great.
Was a bid concerned that Loftomattic had folded when I noticed the company had been disolved. But seamingly it is trading under its old name. Confusing people like me who is only dealing with them once in years.
But problem solved thanks to Max.
