Lily O'Brien's Chocolates started life as the brainchild of Mary Ann O'Brien who, having recovered from a debilitating illness in the early 1990s, discovered her true passion for all things chocolate. Embarking on a journey of discovery, Mary Ann honed her chocolate-making skills among world class chefs and chocolatiers in both South Africa and Europe before starting her own mini enterprise from her Kildare kitchen in 1992. With little more than two saucepans, a wooden spoon and her then toddler, Lily, acting as production manager Mary Ann began to create high quality chocolate recipes for friends and family. Not satisfied with the scale of her enterprise she soon expanded in the hope of positioning excellent Irish chocolate on the world map. Naming the company after her daughter Lily seemed like the most natural thing to do at the time and since then Lily O'Brien's chocolates has established itself as one of Ireland's best-loved chocolatiers. With Mary Ann still at the helm of the business, the passion that first inspired her chocolate honeycomb hedgehogs is still present in every aspect of the business and family values remain at the very core of Lily O'Brien's. Based in the heart of Co. Kildare, Mary Ann and her team continue to develop mouth-watering chocolate creations using the finest quality ingredients.

Delicious, delightful and devourable chocolates....
I am absolutely delighted with Lily O'Brien's chocolates. I was late placing an order in time for my husband's birthday on 20th January. I ordered on 19th but was both surprised and absolutely delighted that they arrived next day on 20th (delivery usually 2-3 days). Chloe in customer care was extremely helpful and communications by email are excellent. Lily O'Brien chocolates are the only ones we ever buy - they are far better than any other chocolate manufacturer. Thank you.

Order did not arrive
Ordered on the 17th December, the cutoff for Christmas delivery was 20th December. I have yet to receive my order.

Highly recommend
Placed order at start of December for a present. Tracking never seemed to be moving for days. I contacted customer services and got immediate response from Chloe. She arranged for another order to be sent immediately and it arrived very quickly. At a very busy time of the year she excelled in getting my order to me and was extremely pleasant and helpful in exchanges. To top things off, The original order arrived eventually( too late for what it was ordered for) and she told me just to keep it! A very generous gesture as the original problem was not their fault. Can only praise this company for their actions, especially Chloe. Have also been informed the chocolates were incredibly good. Would highly recommend.

Great product but useless delivery(GLS)
Everything is great until you get to delivery. GLS have been absolutely useless whenever I have placed an order.

Palm oil - not good
Chocolate is nice but only gave 3 star because I’ve learnt you’ve started using palm oil which is not good , you’ll become just like the rest , resort back to selling quality chocolate please

Palm oil is still not used in any of chocolate grades that Lily O’Brien’s use.
However, any palm oil used within our products is contained in the different chocolate and lemon fillings or decorations (meringue pieces) made by our ingredients suppliers.
They all use segregated RSPO-certified palm oil.

Excellent delivery but I can't tell you how good the chocolates were - I just handed them over and watched as they disappeared. I was told they were delicious.

The chocolates were delivered late but ...
Ok so things happen outside a company's control and in this case the delivery company really let the company and me down and did not deliver a Christmas present ordered before Christmas till January 3rd.
What I didn't know when i tried to contact the company between Christmas and the New Year was that their offices were closed.
When they returned they dealt with the problem very professionaly and made an unhappy customer a lot happier.
Thanks Chloe for all your help!
So only advice if you are ordering a Christmas present do it early!
After chasing the chocolates which were a Christmas present arrived on January 3rd!
Problem solved not a perfect outcome but ....

Not the best Lily O'brien we've ever had
We LOVE Lily O'brien's dessert chocolates, so we got 3 big boxes for family for Christmas. Some were lovely as usual, but somebody must have been rushed at Lily O'brien's, because some of them had the wrong filling! There were several in different boxes where the raspberry tasted of banoffee!

Christmas deserts selection
I don’t get the hoo ha about these chocolates, the list of ingredients on the box is scary (70+) & makes them far from a natural product. If you did a blind tasting you can not tell one taste from another. In my opinion a high street chain like Thorntons offers a tastier and far cheaper alternative.
