After a bad experience instructing another law firm for the purchase of a property, a friend of mine referred me to Laurus Law.

My request for a quote was immediately picked up by Stanley who setup a call and walked me through the process and breakdown of their quote. Laurus Law was a little bit more expensive than the past law firm I had used but now that I have completed on the flat, I can safely say it was 100% worth it.

Stanley and Madeline were incredibly responsive throughout the process. To put things into perspective, the last law firm would sometimes take two weeks to acknowledge receipt of one email and I could never get them on the phone. In contrast, Stanley and Madeline acknowledged receipt of every email, set expectations of when they would be able to respond and responded the same day. They also pro-actively setup phone calls at key milestones during the purchase.

On top of that, Stanley provided excellent advisory. Considering this was my first purchase (in leasehold), Stanley took the time to explain all the pros and cons of different situations which allowed me to make informed decisions throughout the process. Again, in contrast to my previous experience, Stanley and Madeline kept me informed every step of the way, communicated clearly and never used legal jargon.

I felt that Stanley had my best interests at heart and that I was being truly protected throughout the process which was confirmed by the estate agent who told me my solicitors were very responsive, thorough and unwilling to comprise on things that could later negatively affect me as an owner.

I highly recommend Laurus Law and will continue working with them for any legal matters in the future.

Truly awful service. Laurus were the Solicitors on the other side when I was buying a property in London. Their work was slow, shoddy and they frankly didn't seem to care. It took months to get a relatively straightforward transaction through and caused huge amounts of unnecessary stress. Do not use this firm - you will regret it!

Katia was the assigned solicitor from Laurus Law who assisted to sell my late relatives house and the whole process took around 6 weeks. She was very patient and her communication was very good and not overwhelming. In addition to this, her approach was a 'hand held' one which made me feel at ease especially having to use a solicitor for the very first time, the confidence she gave in the service that she provided was phenomenal.

Despite some difficulties with the cofreeholder, we had excellent advice on how to deal with the problem. Emma and Sarah kept us well informed on the sales progress and we're very friendly and helpful. We were happy with the fees which were clearly explained. We recently used Laurus for a purchase. They are one of the most expensive solicitors out there but in return very disappointing and poor customer service.

Kausiha, who is one of the senior associate, made some assumptions about the lease and created a mess for us which caused aggravation with the landlord and in the end her assumption was totally wrong and after wasting a week back and forth on that subject the sale fell through!

Even after that, we didn’t get any apology plus she tried to charge us almost the full amount as the abortive fee claiming they spent time on the case which was less than 2 weeks and there wasn’t a mortgage offer in place yet! She didn’t recognise the fact that she caused the problem based on her wrong assumption and spent 1 week simply trying to understand that!

We have worked with multiple solicitors in the past and never had this issue before. You expect solicitors to be fair and objective, not try to take advantage of the situation that they have created…

Update: James, thanks for your reply but my feedback is genuine and I gave the same feedback to the related solicitor weeks ago that I mentioned her name in my feedback already. You can check the details with her, and hope that will help other people for the future.

We have just purchased our second home and used Laurus Law to help us through this process. Jilna and Sophie were very efficient, great communicators and informative in helping us understand what can be a confusing and challenging process. I've heard lots of people say that buying a house can be really stressful, and I have to say our experience has not felt stressful at all, and we have felt that we are in good hands the whole process. Our purchase was a fairly straightforward one, which helped. However, we still appreciated that Jilna & Sophie progressed us through the house buying process quickly, thoroughly and thoughtfully. Brilliant. Selling is always stressful and this transaction had its fair share of obstacles. Emma and Briannah pulled out all the stops and kept us on track and we successfully completed on time.
