Have had a couple of great nannies through Koru kids; they make the process so easy and straightforward. Will continue to use Koru and would recommend the site to friends.

We found a fabulous nanny through Koru Kids. She is very reliable and my daughter has got a great bond with her. Koru take all the hassle out of employing a nanny, handling all the paperwork and formalities very efficiently.

I have had many Nannies through Koru Kids over the last few years. Some have been better than others (a couple were truly fantastic) and it made finding after school care so much easier than other routes. I would caution that many of the Nannies are ambitious students with career aspirations with nothing to do with children, and not very much experience, so one or two Nannies we met weren’t really cut out for the challenges of children in practice or wanted to get back to their university studies after only a short stint as a nanny. Having said that, we have had the most fantastic nanny for the last year through KK. I would definitely recommend the platform as long as you as the parent take responsibility for guidance and additional training and recognise most of the nannies have limited experience / there is a reason it is only a part time job for them.

I would highly recommend Koru Kids. I agree with other’s comments that it’s all about expectations. The company serves as a platform to find a nanny based on your requirements, but it’s up to you as a parent to then interview them and some might not be the most responsive.
Initially I wondered whether it would be worth paying extra for Koru Kids, but I found it very helpful that they sorted all the paperwork, including national insurance and pension contributions, etc and handled the payments each month. They also were very respondivd when I had any queries. Thank you.

Fantastic, reliable and supportive! I can’t praise Koru enough from the moment we started looking for our childminder to the support received when our contract was ending. I highly recommend Koru!

I have used Koru twice with mixed success - hence the 4 stars not 5.

Our nanny was an absolute gem! You will like the service if you understand that they don’t employ the nannies and do their best to hold them to a high standard. What does this mean? It’s up to me to find and speak to the nanny and figure out if they will be reliable and appropriate for my family..

If a nanny I am interested in doesn’t reply to a message or doesn’t show up for an interview? I move on.

It’s a sourcing agency who helps with the admin so you don’t have to think too much about it. We were so lucky and found a wonderful nanny who has truly become a part of our extended family. Koru *enabled* that.

Why 4 stars? Well, if she is unwell for some reason and can’t come right now there isn’t the facility for emergency help. I can’t even create a little ecosystem of people to tap into if our primary nanny is unwell or away. It would be 5* if Koru provided the ability to find someone for coverage when your primary is not available for any reason.

Why 4 stars for mixed success? Because like many others I had candidates not reply and not show up — and have spoken to people of questionable ability.

I think that’s where many of the parents who use the platform and rate it poorly get it wrong. The terms are very clear if you bother to read them!!! YOU (parent) must be satisfied with all of the references, checks, and documentation… they help gather that for you to assess. Is it worth the fee? Well that’s an individual opinion! For me, it was!!

Excellent system with really high quality candidates - we loved the nanny that we found and the whole billing process etc was simple (and SO much better than a previous experience I had using nanny tax). Only downside is their contracts do not make clear the holiday situation well enough- we were surprised to find out that nanny taking holiday in term time at short notice was permitted- so if that is a concern you need to manually amend the contract before hiring.

I found Koru Kids really helpful when I was stressed about not having after school care when my daughter started school. The app is easy to use and I've been impressed with the responsiveness of the support team. They acted quickly when I said people were ignoring my messages and once I had a nanny we're quick to sort any admin issues, usually far exceeding their SLA. Once I found my BRILLIANT nanny, onboarding and contracting was smooth and I felt like it was all taken care of for me, with useful prompts if I did need to take action. The experience feels digital first with a human touch.
Things I think they can improve upon are:
Very England centric, I was told I was looking too early for a nanny once but it was just a few weeks before the Scottish schools went back - everything is designed around English term dates and structure
It's expensive - I know you get experienced, home care for your child but when my nanny said she wouldn't be able to work with us after the summer holidays and I found out we had an after school club slot I was really relieved. I pay less per afternoon for ASC than I did for one hour if my nanny. I feel conflicted as I want to pay people fairly for the work they do but it just became SO expensive

However, I would consider using Koru again if I felt I needed a nanny. I feel it was a great way to manage after school for my daughter's first year at school but now she's a little older and I'm more relaxed ASC is a better and more affordable option for us.

100% recommend Koru if you can afford it though.

I've been a faithful Koru Kids customer for 6 years and 2 nannies. Firstly we loved the nanny recommendations and the process of meeting them was seamless and so easy to use. Secondly, we've been so happy to use Koru Kids as a way to ensure our nannies are paid fairly and with no admin burden.

I had been with Koru for around 3years.
They had never replied to an email within a decent amount of time. They closed my account based on me going through things with my own child, so I wasn’t as available as they wanted me to be. Which is literally drop everything and provide for them.
They overcharge families and underpay Nannie’s, they have one of the lowest pay rates regardless of experiences, but families are still being charged crazy amounts? Horrible communication, just outright ignorance.

They make you apply and get references only to tell you that you need 3 years experience minimum and that sorry because you only have 1 all we can offer is to be an after school nanny (even if the job description is very similar). Apparently all the families looking for day childcare all want 3 or more years experience (I know for a fact this isn’t true but it’s the excuse they used). The reality is they don’t have enough after school care being offered for the demand and hence push providers towards that even if that is not suitable for them, using any excuse under the sun (even if it lacks coherence and logic). I would steer very clear of this company as a provider, since on top of all of this and the lack of integrity in their recruitment process, they also take a massive chunk of money from providers so it doesn’t even end up being worth it. Go for other platforms if you are a provider, there are plenty of great ones.

Finding a nanny can be a tough process, but being able to filter by a few key factors, then sort by distance really helped.
They were also open to product suggestions, where I pointed out something else that would be useful to filter by.
Lastly, the hiring process is so much easier than last time we went through this (about 4 years ago) with another service. They take care of all the legal tricky bits, pension etc.

I don't feel the fee structure is sufficiently clear. I raised queries about the rate (wanting to pay the nanny a very reasonable rate) and was assured it would happen, but it's only now at contracting stage that it's made clear how much extra it will cost me to engage the nanny at the agreed rate, because Koru earns £4 on top per hour.

Secondly, this is the second time I've advertised on Koru and again some of the prospective nannies were no-shows for interviews. This happened to me before, I complained and yet those nannies remain on the site.

Lastly, I understood the nanny would get first aid training, but I only discovered after I'd committed that this was limited to some online videos. So I'll be arranging my own training for her via a recognised body.

Hopefully I've now found a good nanny now and it will be worth it, but if this doesn't work out I wouldn't be using Koru again.

Koru Kids is a platform that benefits parents at the expense of childcare workers. It promotes low hourly rates and positions itself as a modern solution, but in practice, it drives down standards for pay and conditions in the sector. The suggested rate of £14/hour for nannies with over three years of experience is not only unrealistic — it’s exploitative. I’ve worked in childcare on and off for over 10 years. Even as a 16-year-old babysitter in 2006, I was paid £15/hour. My current rates, which reflect the skill and responsibility involved, are between £20 and £25/hour. In London, a common starting rate is £15/hour gross(though everyone I know is on minimum 18!) , including holiday pay.

I also know several people who have worked through Koru Kids and found it unsupportive. The agency often takes the parents’ side in disputes, and it’s common for parents to pay the official minimum contracted hours through the app, then top up additional hours in cash. This blurs employment boundaries and leaves workers vulnerable.

Being a nanny is a real job. Don’t let anyone treat it otherwise. You are legally entitled to proper pay, holiday entitlement, and employee protections. Do not agree to be paid cash in hand or work as “self-employed” unless you are genuinely running a business — in most nanny situations, that is illegal and shifts risk unfairly onto the worker. If you’re in childcare, I recommend using a proper agency or other sites where you can set your own rates and negotiate clear contracts.

A note to parents: I appreciate childcare is very hard to find but if you’re using Koru Kids because it seems cheaper or easier, please reflect on what that cost difference really means. You are hiring someone to care for your children —you need people you can trust and who take their work seriously. If you can’t afford to pay someone legally and fairly, then you may want to reconsider if you can afford a nanny. There are better ways to find childcare that respect everyone involved.

Excellent reliable safe

I am an experienced nanny and have submitted all the necessary references and documents. Despite providing my BRP details twice, they requested the same information again. The entire application process stretched to four months, only for me to receive an email stating that my application was denied without reason. I strongly advise against signing up with Koru Kids. The communication is poor, the process is inefficient, and it is an overall waste of time.

Koru Kids is highly professional and person centred. They think of everything and are always on hand to answer any questions. They take all the admin stress away so we can concentrate on what’s important : the children.
