Mark Hopkins Hotel SF
Specifically for The Mark Hopkins San Francisco!
My stay at IHG Mark Hopkins got off to a bad start because of the desk clerk who brought some East Coast attitude to the West Coast!. I arrived early and noted that I knew this and just wanted to drop my bags and go out. But all I got was poor attitude and poor customer service. Not to mention he didn't contact me to notify me when the room was ready as he noted he would but then, I really didn't expect to hear from him. Apart from that, Roy was jolly and ok when I returned. The bed was comfortable but the hotel is just dated and in need of complete makeover/refurbishment. There was peeling wallpaper in my room and no idea what's happening with the bed frame with odd 'repairs' and lots of dust behind the bed. The hotel reminded me of hotels I used to visit as a kid when dragged along to meet an aunt staying by the sea in the UK. There are things that are just odd. I mean the safe is newish and the coffee machine is great but the TV is pretty dated (with blown pixels just for fun) and the OSG is old and just awful. To check-out I used the app (which was also odd as it thought for some reason I was Chinese and only got used because Google's translation service is really excellent these days!). I feel kinda bad about leaving a review like this as the hotel is ok, the bed is ok, some (most?) of the staff are excellent, maybe even the guy I encountered is a nice guy and was just having a bad day (not sure why that was my problem but heh) The room was sold as a 'bridge view' room. I guess there is only so much you can do about a 'bridge view room' after all, there are buildings in the way. and you can catch a glimpse of the GG between the buildings (when the cloud and rain does not obscure all views) and I am not complaining about it. I only visited as I wanted to tick off the last of the big four on Nob Hill. Oh well. Now I know!
Clean and presentable room
Stay was good, excellent service and comfertable stay. Room was properly clean and presentable.
I have an issue with points
I have an issue with points. They keep saying that they’ve escalated it to supervisors and corporate and that they should get back to me. It’s been over two weeks. Haven’t heard a thing they pick and choose what they wanna give you points for they’re a horrible company.

Canterbury ihg spoilt by parking eye
I stay at ihg hotels a few times a year and generally they are good. Ihg leeds city centre for example is excellent.
However recently stayed at ihg canterbury and parking eye control their car park. I received 2 fines even though I stayed there and the hotel tried to cancel the fines. Parking eye refused to fully cancel and charged £20 per fine. The hotel paid me back for these fines but the hassle and the chore to get this resolved was stressful. How can a parking company have contacted tell over a hotels parking space. I am not the only person to go through this as when I called they spoke about another car.
I called customer service but I feel it's just generic answers and they didn't really listen to the problem. They said they would ask for an apology etc but that was not the issue or what I wanted. Parking eye needs to go from the car parks and use another service. I cancelled my second trip to this hotel as a result and stayed elsewhere. The hotel must be losing money paying these fines off. No wonder parkingmeye say they won't cancel when the hotel pays the fines.
Don't waste your time or money
The hotel is in a nice enough neighborhood but obviously is sorely in need of updating and repairs. The hot tub didn't work the pool needs resurfaced has large chunks missing out of the pool decking surface. While we were there a large tree in the back corner of the parking lot fell into the parking lot but no one seemed to care in the staff. The room smelled like sewer gases constantly and I complain to the front desk who sent a maintenance man who spoke no English who said he'd be back to take care of the problem but never showed back up and then left for the day. He spent most of his time sleeping in his car in the back parking lot. They tried to break into my car the second night we stayed there and set off my car alarm at 3:00 in the morning. Notified the front desk of that was told next time come find them or call the police great. There were all kinds of people that were not staying at the hotel that would just come and open up the pool and go swimming whenever. You could reach over the pool fence and open the pool without a code and the pool is not secure in any way because there's no fence around the hotel in the back so anybody can walk right in and use the pool and apparently nobody at the hotel gives a s***. The third night they siphon the gas out of my car and the sewer smell continued to get worse. The so-called breakfast buffet is a bunch of microwaved rubbery eggs an assortment of bargain basement pork products. The juice was so watered down you couldn't consider it juice and the only thing they couldn't screw up was the yogurt. All in all a very very lousy State we actually left early and would never ever go back. Don't bother going there it's not worth it now I know why the rate was what it was.
IHG Garner Hotel Nottingham
IHG Garner Hotel Nottingham
Unsafe, dismissive staff, and nowhere near IHG standards
I stay in IHG hotels regularly as a Silver member, but this place was honestly terrifying and completely unprofessional.
Women especially: do not stay here.
During my stay, I was assaulted by someone I had previously let into my room. Shaken and bruised, I went to the front desk for help—and the night manager literally rolled his eyes at me, called it “just a domestic,” and told me I was “wasting his time.” He flat‑out said the hotel had no security, no responsibility for my safety, and insisted I let the man back into my room “so he wouldn’t disturb others.” When I begged to just be left alone in a safe space, I was told it was my fault and to call the police myself if I didn’t like it.
That was one of the most frightening nights I’ve ever had in a hotel. I ended up locking myself in the bathroom all night, shaking, and as a result I missed the wedding I’d traveled 400 miles to attend.
And beyond the awful safety issue, the hotel itself is just run‑down and badly managed. My room was hot and airless, the air‑con didn’t work, noise from the street kept me up, and even basic things like towels and toiletries were missing (asking twice didn’t help). I’d asked well in advance for a fridge for medication—they ignored it and told me to “just use a pint glass of ice.” Phone calls and emails before arrival were also ignored.
The parking “discount” didn’t work either, and when I asked for help I was told bluntly “not our problem.” Outside the hotel there were clearly intoxicated and drug‑using people hanging around. Inside, the motion‑sensor corridor lights often left me standing in complete darkness. Honestly, the whole environment felt unsafe.
I’ve since seen plenty of other reviews describing the same kind of dismissive staff, poor safety, and tired dirty rooms, so it’s definitely not just me. This hotel is advertised as 4‑star, but in reality it’s more like a tired 3‑star at best.
In short: no security, untrained and dismissive staff, unsafe atmosphere, and barely functional rooms. My experience left me traumatised and completely shattered my trust in IHG. Until they overhaul training, fix security, and stop advertising this as 4‑star, avoid this hotel.
IHG SUPPORTS WIFE AND I BEING ACCOSTED BY FRONT DESK EMPLOYEE
My wife and I were accousted on a friday night by the man working the desk at the EVEN HOTEL IN MANCHESTER NH. I reported it to IHG expecting soneone to reach out and say they were sorry, NOPE!!

scammers
Would never use these scammers ever again, i booked a room showed 7 days to cancel for a refund I cancelled within that 7 day period and never got a refund, they send you an email with a different time scale, I have asked for this to be looked in to and the absolute rude agent claimed to have put in a request to the hotel to resolve this which he never did, nothing but a bunch of robbing scam artists
Attempted to use points that I have…
Attempted to use points that I have accrued of a few years. BIG mistake and an absolute rip off.
I am an IHG Platinum Elite member- what a joke.
I am an IHG Platinum Elite member. This apparently means nothing. I called IHG to reserve 4 rooms for 3 nights each in Boston. I was quoted a rate of $399 per night with a deposit of 1 night. Obviously, with 8 others traveling, I had to check with everyone involved to make sure that was acceptable. The representative booked at the higher flex rate to hold the rooms and assured me I could call back, pay the deposit, and get the quoted $399 rate. When I called back to do just that, I was told that wasn’t available. They opened an investigation to listen to the original call between myself and the representative. 2 weeks and no progress has been made. No one at IHG cares or has accomplished anything. Not sure why it’s so hard to listen to a recorded phone call, but that is apparently beyond the technical capability of IHG. I have cancelled the reservation and booked at a non IHG hotel. Status at IHG is a joke. Never have I been treated so poorly by untrained staff than with this process.
Made a reservation at White Peak Hotel…
Made a reservation at White Peak Hotel in Frisco, Co. 6 weeks before our trip. Got a cancellation notice 2 weeks before the stay stating that the owner closed the hotel for renovations. Have made 3 calls including a chat to customer relations...they want to book me at an Indigo down the street for twice the amount of the original hotel. I ahve been a member of IHG for 25 years....that ends today! Will never stay at another IHG Hotel...
When a “Confirmed” Hotel Reservation Isn’t Worth the Email It’s Sent On – My Experience with IHG Hotels
I’ve been an IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite member since 2010. I book directly through IHG, trust their confirmations, and expect that “confirmed” means exactly that.
On July 24, 2025, my family and I arrived at EVEN Hotel Downtown Omaha – Old Market with a confirmed reservation (confirmed twice via text the same day). We were:
Checked in per IHG’s own systems — welcome points posted to my account and a welcome hamper provided.
Kept waiting for over 30 minutes before being told there was no room available.
Witnessing other guests being checked in while we were turned away.
Later emailed a cancellation notice only after the failed check-in.
IHG’s corporate office now claims my credit card was declined. The facts — including their own system timestamps and written proof from the hotel acknowledging overbooking — prove otherwise.
IHG has refused to acknowledge the truth or take responsibility, instead referring me back to the same property that caused the problem.
For loyal customers, this is more than a bad night — it’s a breakdown of trust in the brand. If a “confirmed” reservation can be erased at the front desk with no help from corporate, what protection does any guest have?
I’m sharing this to highlight the gap between a brand promise and actual accountability. I’ll be filing formal complaints with the BBB and relevant hospitality regulators so that guests’ rights are not left to chance.
Poor experience at Dumfries Holiday Inn
Staying with mates whilst on a golf Holiday.
Booked two twin rooms to find they were doubles.
Asked receptionist to sort.
Went out for meal
One room sorted, other not so.
My mates like each other but not enough to share a double.
Lift was out of order so heaven knows how you'd get upstairs if disabled.
Like many places in the UK I got the impression they couldn't be bothered.
If you book a hotel room months ahead you expect it to be right....well it wasn't.
DON'T BOOK IHG HOTEL'S
Don't waste your time and money booking a ihg hotel.
I'm a member and booked a three night stay for December 2025
The booking was made in June as it said
Book Early And Save Members Exclusive Rate!!!!
I paid £1,210
I went back onto the website to book a room for my daughter on
Tuesday 5th August and the price had dropped to
£856
This is a lot of money.
I called and they said to email with a screen shot of the new price which I did.
I didn't hear anything!
So emailed again and was told
No can't do anything.
So what benefit have I received for booking early.
On the time of booking they also took the full amount which I didn't know they would do this.
My sister who has the same hotel same dates emailed and they refunded her the difference.
So why is it ok for one and not the other.
Very very misleading and false advertising.
Worst Customer Service Ever
Canceled my reservations 2 DAYS after making them through their so call protection plan in June and had to file a complaint through PayPal in the middle of July because they didn't send it. Then they sent me Emails (BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTACT IHG ANY OTHER WAY!!) Saying now because they didn't honor their own policy its GOING TOP TAKE UP TO 90 DAYS BECAUSE I FILED A COMPLAINT ! Its August now and still no refund! DON'T BOOK IHG UNLESS YOUR WILLING TO WAIT 3 MONTHS FOR YOUR MONEY ($800 ) BACK !!!
Charged $98 for Parking I Was Told Was Free – No Response from Hotel
I stayed at Staybridge Suites Chattanooga Downtown (an IHG property) from July 24–29, 2025, and I am still waiting for a refund after being charged $98.35 for parking I was told was included.
When I checked in, I asked the front desk if parking was included in the hotel fee. I was told yes. I trusted that and parked there for the entire stay. After checking out, I found a $98.35 charge on my credit card. I emailed the hotel management twice to ask for a refund—and they’ve completely ignored me.
I am posting here because private contact failed, and I want IHG to know this is happening at one of your branded hotels. The charge was not disclosed, I was misinformed, and I’ve been ignored ever since.
But the parking charge wasn’t the only problem. Despite asking every day, housekeeping never once cleaned the room. We had to take out our own trash and ask for towels. The sofa bed was dirty, the soap dispenser was empty, and maintenance issues like a dripping faucet and broken bathroom door were left unresolved. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, which made things worse.
Breakfast varied drastically. Weekends offered sausage or bacon, but on weekdays it was just carbs—no meat, limited fruit, and broken drink machines. One day there was literally no cheese or juice available. The pool water was cloudy and not inviting.
IHG, please take this seriously. I trusted your brand name. This hotel misled me, ignored my emails, and hasn’t refunded a charge they should never have made. I expect better—and will continue escalating until it’s resolved.
Loyal Customer
Loyal Customer - They misspelled my name- don’t know how they did that- but they refused to update my name, went through about 30 minutes of verification , sent photo of my ID, etc. but they said no! And I asked to please transfer my points over (over 12k points) they said I needed to create a new account and that my points would not transfer over.
Account deleted and now happily switching to Hilton Honors. Already booked all my travels through 2026 with Hilton.
