bury store is good but not keen on the fast checkout till

Worked at herons hartlepool it was horrendous. The young girls were great some of the older ones were for want of a better word bullies. Manager was great. Either ignored totally or put downs constantly about your work couldn't do right for doing wrong. I have worked in retail for 47 years and have never worked in a toxic place like this. Does it make people feel better about themselves when they put others down and treat them like that? Will never understand people like that. The thing is when someone has been in an abusive situation themselves either physically or mentally it should make them more compassionate towards other people's difficulties whether it be at work or in general life. Funny how easily they forget. I'm out now and still trying to understand why it happened. A new year a new beginning.

This is for the Weoley Castle store. I’m a sucker for bargains and oh my lordy-doo-dah are there bargains to be had. Lots of them are on things that are very new & haven’t quite gone to market yet. The offers are all one offs, later you see the products at a comparatively eye watering price in the local Asda.

However, I’m knocking off a star because the staff are treated like rubbish. They do their best methinks. But they are subject to the place being robbed daily (seriously Weoley Castle? Raise your sights a bit higher than Heron Foods if you are gonna risk a criminal record. Selfridges or Marks and Spencer Food, maybe? Or at least raise your sights a little bit and do the Asda down the road) and staff also have been assaulted (at least one with a knife) but I’ve never seen any violence or robbing myself and the skankier locals aren’t Heron Foods fault.

However, I do wish they would treat their staff better. Most minimum wage place and retailers aren’t the best places to work.

I’ve never had any problems with the frozen food personally. I do check the refrigerated fruit ie berries/salad etc as sometimes they aren’t fresh or are verging on mouldy (ie raspberries at the bottom of the pack, or salad bags that are wet inside). However at other times they are really fresh.

The crazy offers tend to be sugar and carb heavy, ie sweets/cake/biscuits/drinks with lots of other things that are a very good price.

If I was a staff member I might be giving it a 1 but from a customer’s point of view it’s great to get crazy ass bargains. It means we save a lot and only do top ups at the supermarkets, which are much pricier in comparison.

Bought Christmas meal deal for£15 in December, took it home put in freazer, turkey joint was bad.sickness diarrhea stomach pains for 3 days.first time using heron foods never again no wonder it's so cheap.

Some of the staff are alright recently. There’s a lady who often serves me who’s friendly enough. I went in today and was served by a tall man (Tipton branch) he was asking everyone else if they wanted a bag but didn’t ask me even though I’d bought things such a litre bottle of pop luckily enough I’m one of these that can carry things quite well regardless and thought maybe I’m partly to blame for not bringing my own as it was a last minute thing due to already being out. Other than this one particular man the other staff don’t seem that bad lately.

I work at heron foods wellington square stockton-on-tees, so many issues including that Frozen food is defrosted upon delivery to store daily, and refrozen by the store before selling, this is against the law and causes food poisoning. The manager insists that all damaged food items are sold even when the food has fallen out of the packaging onto the floor, the employees are made to resell, look for the cellotape on packaging!! Not a good place to work or to shop, dirty and a health risk!

I ordered five surprise bags on foodtogo and five times they been cancelled.all the shops much just be putting one on and then cancelling them.
I won't be ordering tham again

The store in Coniston Road Chester is amazing. Clean with friendly staff and a host of bargains. I live right next to the Parkgate Rd Aldi, but I still go to Heron for lots of my weekly shop. Highly recommended.

just checked other reviews and found I'm just one among many who've had the same problem. Started using heron some time ago and was one of the people that said no when a receipt was offered. Just recently started to realise that the prices didn't add up. I started getting my receipt and found i was being over charged especially on 2 for 1items,the shop assistant said that they just hadn't changed the price yet and the products were now full price. This excuse started to become a regular event and when i finally confronted the manager was met by someone who showed no interest at all. I have since contacted heron customer services who said they would look into it,they then sent a £5 voucher by way of an apology. I decided to use another branch of their shop to use the voucher,and once again at the till found i had been charged extra on a item that was clearly advertised at £2. I have since contacted heron,but to no avail. I have also reported them to trading standards. They must be making a large amount of extra money from all us people that don't add up prices or take a receipt. Is this incompetence or a rip off on herons part,needless to say i won't be using heron shops again.

I've bought jacket potato&pizza from here an there both disgusting unfortunately I will no longer be shopping here

Herons north point shopping centre bransholme. Good value for money plenty to choose from, issue I have is some of the staff the are very rude they talk and laugh and joke about customers on their headsets to each other IV heard it happen a few times, some are very rude on the tills, there are some staff in there that are very polite and helpful but the majority are rather rude.

Oldbury store, west Midlands B68, superb service. Staff are very considerate, polite and willing to help. Store has great offers and very well managed. All staff are great and always make you feel very welcome. The team in this store have great customer service skills and do an amazing job !!

Called in to buy the 2 currys with 2 sides.Loads of curry but no sides.Whats going on.

Hi, i visited heron food belgrave gate LE1 3HP on the 1st OCTOBER. I was told to use the self serve checkout but i told them i was paying with a love to shop gift card, they told me that was ok. It said payment was ok but then declined, so i tried again. Same thing happened only the second time there was no reversal. This happened at 1.17pm. A man came over and told me it should go back on to my gift card within 24 hours but it has not. It's now Wednesday the 4th of October. He said I had to pay again as he could not allow me to leave the store with the items. So i used my debit card at 1.22pm so I have technically paid twice for £11.83 worth of items. As you can imagine I am annoyed, I am out of pocket £11.83. I had work at 2pm and was given no further instruction as to what I should do next. So I am now reaching out to you in the hopes of resolving this issue!
Maybe train your staff to resolve issues in store, maybe answer your damn emails!

When I got my things for 10 pounds they needed to give me 4£ or 5£ and they gave me 1.80£

I am writing to address an ongoing issue at Heron Foods Weoley Castle, specifically the third occurrence of overcharging that I have experienced. Regrettably, my interactions with your receptionist during these incidents have been far from satisfactory, characterized by an attitude that I can only describe as appalling, marked by ignorance and a lack of professionalism. It is disheartening that nobody answers the phone, and when they do, the level of ignorance seems boundless. This situation has become untenable, and Heron Foods can no longer maintain a credible position on the high street in my opinion.

In light of today's unfortunate incident, I have decided to take the necessary steps to resolve this matter. As advised by the receptionist, I will be initiating a letter of pre-action protocol. While I find it regrettable that such a measure is required, I believe it is the only way to effectively address the ongoing issues I have faced after being put on continues hold when reporting these matters.

To provide some context, I have been overcharged on three separate occasions, with amounts totaling £3.45, £4.20, and most recently, £2.24 today. Given the repetitive nature of these overcharges, I consider it imperative to escalate this matter formally as this constitutes theft on a large scale.

In pursuit of a resolution, I kindly request the following information:

The full names and contact details of your legal department.
The contact information for your Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

I firmly believe that addressing this matter promptly and professionally will not only rectify the financial discrepancies but also help correct the questionable practices I have observed at Heron Foods Weoley Castle. It is worth noting that I have never been offered or received any compensation or reward after being greatly inconvenienced, despite the pathetic excuses provided for the fully accepted reasons behind these overcharges.

In view of these most unsatisfactory lack of communications and the blatant theft from myself, I will be making a claim for £200.00 for inconvenience, loss of monies, and the dubious integrity related to these overcharges.

The time for excuses is over. I must now move to an immediate issuance of a letter of pre-action protocol; nothing else will suffice to address this issue satisfactorily.

I love Heron, so today I decided to try Boltons newest large store on Wigan Road. First impressions were GREAT, I made my purchases and proceeded to the till to pay. However when I asked for my receipt, because the amount did not appear to be correct. The male assistant said the printer was broken. I explained could he please check what I had been charged for my reduced items, which were very clear and visual and had yellow stickers on them. He explained that I would need to wait because he needed to get a manager. By this time there was a very long queue and I could not wait. When I got home, I was correct, I had been charged full price for these reduced items 😢. Please be very careful and check if the receipt printer is not working that you are being charged correctly. I understand that at times items may not scan the reduced price, but mine were very visual and clear.

Friendly staff, good choice and value for money in Newton, Chester. Store well managed.

The staff every time don't want to give me receipt and I always need to ask three times to get receipt. And what wore today they scammed me... They charged me too much and when I showed them original price worker told me that I' m wrong and she even told me that I shouldn't come to this store!!! Really??? Don't buy at heron on Walker.... Thet not only steal your money but they are so rude for customers, the shop is very dirty and their food often is spoiled
