Evernote is very useful to create and search notes but there are a couple of things I find to be quite annoying:

1) Every time I turn to the program it wants to restart for some new "feature" that I couldn't care less for. This is a note-taking program, not an AI tool. Stop the constant updating.

2) Things break for no reason. For example, I am working through a list of things I need to read and take notes on. As I work through the list, I highlight a completed line. Suddenly, the text formatting tools stopped working and I had to quit the program completely (including exiting the running program in the taskbar tray) and restart to get it working again.

3) It would be awesome to have multiple levels of notebooks and not just stacks, notebooks, and notes. I am writing a dissertation and need to keep track logically of a ton of notes. Nice to have, not essential, but very useful.

4) I would be nice to have a paste plain text feature that ignores line breaks from the source instead of putting parts of sentences on individual lines following hard line returns. I keep having to delete them to get a paragraph to look like a paragraph instead of a list.

That's it for now. Stop trying to make the program something other than what it was originally intended to be and make it work well for what it is supposed to be without constant updates and weird quirks.

This is my favorite note-taking app and has been since I was an undergrad in 2014. I love that it seamlessly syncs with all of my devices and that scan documents makes them fully searchable in the app.

Outside of the classroom, I've used this app for personal finances and for travel planning.

I've been a customer of Evernote since 2013, and it worked great for the first several years.
in the early 2020's it started to decline, and it's gotten worse and worse since.
For the last two years (since 2024) I've been dealing with the 'slowdown' issue, as have many other users, and while I've filed many tickets asking for help, the best they've given me is, 'Remove it, get a fresh copy, reinstall it'.
Despite doing this more than ten times now, the issues persist on all machines.
It's definitely time to switch.

I have been using Evernote for many years and find it useful for keeping notes. However it is spoilt by the fact that they keep introducing new features that I have no use for, and breaking the system in the process - it is now full of bugs.
It would be better if they had a basic version for people who don't want all the extra stuff.

Too many updates for one thing - impressive use of categories but it does not integrate nicely with MS SharePoint etc - so I think I will go over to OneNote eventually. Also Evernote's deployment of AI is less than impressive!

The product is very bad and search functionality is horrific, it has no connectors, etc. I would never suggest anyone use this product.

I've been using evernote for many years. I don't use it for a lot, just organizing notes. It's a nice platform but now that all of these features are added and the fact that I've been using it do long I have to pay WAY too much every month (or yearly) for basic functionality. I'm working to get everything transferred to a new platform that's affordable and not bloated with features most people do not need.

Evernote makes for an easy to use database to collect my information. It keeps everything in one place. I can then go back and make use of my data which has changed the way I do things.

The subscription price is unacceptable. Limiting 1000 notes for a digital service is a ridiculous barrier. I've had evernote for 14 years and these recent changes are a robbery. No one cares about the AI tools. Lower the price and abolish the foolish 1000 note cap.

v11 has too many bugs and processes too slowly.

I love the new (but not so new) feature of creating spaces! It's been such a great way to organize things even more into different sections :) I do wish there were more templates, the current one for class note taking isn't the type I use but also when I tried to import it to at least try it out, it wouldn't import into my platform. Otherwise, I love evernote - been using it for maybe 4 or 5 years? I love the simplicity of it.

I love Evernote. I've been using it on and off for the last like 5 years, but I've started using it very heavily after the bendingspoons acquisition. It's better for me and my needs than notion, obsidian, one note, and all the other big players. I'm an Evernote customer for life!

I have been using Evernote as a complete database for facts and reference notes and commentary for my personal life, my hobbies, my professional life and my life-long learning.
It is amazing that I can use Evernote on my iPhone, iPad, Windows laptop...at home or at the office.
There is no worry about running out of space and having to buy more... I subscribe and it covers all my needs.
I am impressed with their non-stop updates and upgrades.
