It was incredibly useful for the project I used it for, all of the features work great, but I will not be using it again simply because I felt like I was fooled. I signed up for a free trial, but when it expired it automatically charged me for the full year instead of monthly.

This company is a joke, they don't deliver when you upgrade and support never gets back to you.

Absolutely appalling they took my money for pro account and it does not reflect in my app and it's impossible to get hold of anybody.

They refuse to meet with us on a support issue so we can demonstrate it and get research for a fix. We will have to select another vendor.

We signed up two people and enjoyed it. Great notes. It was simple to get the notetaker to attend.

I am admin, someone else is a user. We added a third person with no admin rights.

Now if that person is invited, his notetaker takes over and no one else, including admin, and change it. Only he gets our meeting notes.

They asked for examples, we give them, they say how to fix that ONE meeting.

We spent hours with their instructions and tests.

Add person A... no problem. Add person B, no problem. Both get notes. And the new person C, no one else can get notes. Right now he has to go through each day and remove himself and controlling all notes in every meeting he is invited to.

Otter has responded up to 20 times attempting to close the case and provide either "show us another example" or generic notes that do not match the situation.

They do not state that will will never meet with any customer in any case, they just refuse to do so.

We are a software company. We recognize what is either a bug or a very deep setting. If they cannot tell us the exact setting to change, and refuse to look at the specific problem we describe, what choice do we have but to change vendor?

"I am disputing the unauthorized charge of $180.73 on Feb 23. Your chatbot refuses to connect me to a human and ends the chat. I did not authorize any seat additions. Please process a refund immediately or I will initiate a chargeback through my bank."

Default setting sent out meeting notes to every attendee of meeting that I didn't consent to. Stay away from Otter AI.

I was signed up for Otter.ai without realising I had done it, and it also spread to other people in my organisation. It was difficult to stop it from inviting itself to my meetings and difficult to delete my account. There is something wrong with the way it is working to sign people up without proper informed consent.

I am happy with Otter because it saves me a lot of time at university. I play a video and get the transcript and the summary, it saves me a lot of time because I don't have to do manual note taking. Sometimes the sidebar doesn't work and I have to uninstall the plugin and install it again.

Hello otter you continue on to take money from my bank account even though I cancelled my subscription.You take whatever amount of money you want from R500 to R200 it does not make any sense.It proves to me that you are stealing people's money.Your website should be shutdown as it not reliable and fraud.I cancelled my subscription on the 9 May 2026 and you continue on to take money out of my bank account.

They are posting jobs on Upwork and tricking people to sign up to Otter AI, wasting people's connects. Deceptive and criminal.

Otter.ai has been charging my account $30/month for seven months ($210 total) without sending a single receipt or billing notification. I reactivated the account on July 23, 2025, for a meeting that the software failed to record. I cancelled immediately, yet charges continued. Support (Jennifer B.) explicitly stated that monthly receipts are "opt-in" only—a clear dark pattern designed to hide recurring charges from customers. Even after cancelling again today (2/17/2026), I received no confirmation email. This is predatory and bordering on fraud. I am demanding a full refund.

I tried it yesterday, but disappointed.
The note taking is good, but the summary in the android app does not show the actions! I had to login to web site to see them.
Being able to manage action in the phone is vital to me.
The help is not up to date, and there's no way to contact customer support from the app.

I hate this tool. The notifications are offensive, it's clunky, and it's darn near impossible to remove yourself from receiving meeting notes.

After an email I had originally signed up with was no accessible, I tried to cancel my subscription to Otter.ai three separate times and they never responded to me or my credit card company. I sent multiple emails, disputed it, and eventually I had to get my credit card company to stop the payment. Horrible customer service which borders on a scam. I advise against using any of their paid services.

I have been a long-time user of otter.ai and very much enjoy it's functionality. But recently their methods regarding free trials and subscriptions has become quite sneaky and unethical. I have a paid account and am happy to pay for the service but whenever I have meetings with team members they get constant prompts to sign up for free trails which then end up as paid subscriptions. On each occasion the team member had no idea they were ending up adding additional charges to my paid subscription.

Some clear transparency over this situation would go a long way to repairing broken trust.

Otter.ai has many transcription errors. I always need to edit everything, and almost every sentence. Often, if I did not know the subject, I would not be able to edit the transcription for it to make any sense. This inserts my own bias and errors into the transcription because I may not be paraphrasing the speaker/discussion correctly. Even when I know the subject, sometimes, the transcription is so bad that I just cannot make any sense of the conversation. Customer support has not been of any help. They try to blame me for the errors. There must be better transcription software. I just have not found it. When I do find it, I will definitely switch. It's time consuming to go through the trial and error process. One review company that I often follow rates Otter.ai as very good. I disagree with them. Also, Otter.ai is super expensive for the transcription quality that it delivers.

Stupid stupid stupid. It kept asking to leave a review, even after I left it, it still kept popping up. IT is just crazy. It does not work. I was not able to edit the transcript even though it literally had a feature to edit. Bunch of idiots create this complete waste of time. Full of bugs. Crazy

Customer service is horrible. They don't reply to emails and can't troubleshoot

I am very disappointed by Otter ai. I signed up for the free trial, which of course entails adding a payment method. I believed this meant I could record a meeting fully, which wasnt the case. Not that it mattered, because the brief transcript it managed was incomprehensible, as was the audio recording. Its much better using a voice recorder on a mobile phone.

It is a scam , it worked 3 days then nothing. Impossible to get the customer service. AVOID
