Such a knowledgable guide who was really friendly. He made our trip so enjoyable and went above and beyond sorting out the little things!

Our group of 34 family members and friends has just returned from an 11-day private tour booked through Egypt Tours Portal (ETP). It was the trip of a lifetime for most, if not all, of us. Everything went perfectly well. We saw and did everything we wanted to. We visited both the (old) Egyptian Museum and the (new) Grand Egyptian Museum. We toured the pyramids at Giza, Saqqara, and Dashur, and got the chance to crawl inside the Step, Unas, Bent, Red, and Great pyramids. We partied on an evening Nile River Party cruise in Cairo. We spent 3 nights & 4 days on a Nile River cruise from Aswan to Luxor, visiting myriad sites and temples along the way such as Kom Ombo, Philae, Edfu, Luxor, Karnak, Abu Simbel, and the Valley of the Kings. We rode hot air balloons and watched the sunrise in Luxor. We snorkeled in the turquoise Red Sea. We drove quad bikes/ATVs and watched the sunset in the Hurghada desert. We wandered around both Coptic and Islamic Cairo, and perused the shops at the Khan el-Khalili bazaar.

Walaa Atif was our tour coordinator. She replied to over 100 emails from us, answered every question and clarified every detail. She helped modify our itinerary exactly the way we wanted. When ETP's snorkeling partner could not provide a particular service we were looking for at the last minute (we wanted to be on a specific beach on a specific island in the Red Sea), Walaa refunded our group's snorkeling cost so we could book what we needed elsewhere. When some of our group members had last-minute changes, she worked with us to accommodate those changes. By "last minute," I mean asking Walaa to add/remove someone 2 days before the start of the tour. Whatever magic she did, it worked.

Ahmed Refaat was our guide for the Cairo portion. I asked ChatGPT to analyze all ETP reviews on TripAdvisor from the last 12 months and to provide me with the names of the most often mentioned guides. Ahmed was at the top of the list for Lower Egypt. He has a Master's degree in Egyptology and did everything for our group. No request was too small or unimportant, even if it had nothing to do with the itinerary itself. Ahmed even apologized for not having enough time to explain everything he wanted to when we ourselves asked to cut the tour short on a day when some members were not feeling well. Our tour included 3 days in Cairo at the start and 1 day at the end. Ahmed broke both of his arms shortly after the initial 3 days, yet still asked to be our guide for the last remaining day so we could have a familiar face for that single day.

Omar Haridi was our tour guide for the Aswan and Luxor portion. Just like with Ahmed, Omar was at the top of the list compiled by ChatGPT for Upper Egypt. He is currently studying for his doctorate in Egyptology, and will be defending his PhD in a few weeks. By the time you read this review and request Omar for your Egypt trip, chances are you will be able to officially call him "Doctor Omar". He, for his part, referred to our group as his "family" or "habibi". Omar made the various sites come alive by having us role-play the different gods so we could more easily remember who was who [I was Osiris and unfortunately got killed]. He took it personally when a street vendor attempted to scam a group member. He told us that the Karnak Temple was his second wife, since his first/only wife hates it whenever he visits there. And thanks to Omar, even though he won't admit it, our group even got the chance to meet and have our photos taken with the Governor of Luxor!

If you plan to visit Egypt, whether as a couple or as part of a larger group, consider going with ETP, and make sure you ask for Walaa Atif, Ahmed Refaat, and Omar Haridi.

Would highly recommend Marian Azer in Luxor as a guide. She gave us plenty of time on our own after explaining the site very well indeed. Would love to come back to do luxor again. Thank you Marian for making our trip extra special.

We had the pleasure of spending two days exploring Luxor with Ghada Kamel, and the experience was excellent from beginning to end.

During our time together, we visited Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, and several other remarkable historical sites. Ghada’s extensive knowledge of ancient Egyptian history, combined with her ability to explain things in an engaging and accessible way, made each visit especially memorable.

What really sets Ghada apart is her warm personality, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm for sharing Egypt’s extraordinary history. She was patient with our questions, attentive to our interests, and made sure we had an enjoyable experience without ever feeling rushed.

Everything was well organized, and the two days went smoothly. Having a knowledgeable and personable guide makes an enormous difference when visiting places with such rich histories, and Ghada certainly delivered.

I would highly recommend Ghada Kamel to anyone visiting Luxor, particularly those who want to gain a deeper appreciation of ancient Egyptian civilization. She made our time in Luxor both educational and thoroughly enjoyable!

We recently spent 4 nights cruising the Nile aboard the Blue Shadow 4, and it was a truly memorable experience. The ship was clean and comfortable throughout, and cruising along the river was such a lovely, relaxing way to see parts of Egypt. There was something special about simply watching the riverbank drift past between excursions.

The real highlight for us was our guide, Omar. He was incredibly knowledgeable, but what really made him stand out was his sense of humour. He had us laughing constantly and somehow managed to make every temple and historical site fascinating rather than feeling like a dry history lesson. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that enthusiasm made every excursion something we looked forward to. We came away with a much deeper understanding of Egypt than we would have had exploring on our own.

The food was another pleasant surprise. We’re vegetarian, and the crew took excellent care of us. Rather than simply offering the usual few vegetarian sides, they went out of their way to prepare special vegetarian dishes for us at mealtimes. It was clear they genuinely cared about getting it right, and that made a big difference to our experience.

If I had to suggest one small improvement, it would be clearer labelling at the buffet. Some of the salad ingredients weren’t clearly marked, so it was occasionally difficult to know exactly what was in a dish.

Overall, we’d happily recommend this cruise to anyone planning a trip to Egypt. Great ship, great food, and a fantastic guide who we’d request again in a heartbeat!

Essam was an amazing guide. He made our Egypt trip so memorable as he was so knowledgeable. He was also very kind. He made sure I was comfortable with riding a camel for the first time before we continued on. He was observant to everyone's needs and made us feel very comfortable. When I visit again, I want him to accompany our group.

Visited the Pyramids and the museum. Great Experience

NOTE: the 5 stars is for our guide: Walid Ahmed was an excellent guide for our Nile tour. His knowledge and expertise were superior, his communication was timely and clear, he is very well organised and very patient.
We feel very fortunate to have had someone of this calibre to guide us through much of the country's history. Walid made our tour very interesting and informative.

NOTE: 2 stars is for Egypt Tours Portal. Communication was responsive but getting answers from them was like pulling teeth! It took me several attempts to get an answer related to each question asked.
We joined a 5 day/4 night Nile cruise Luxor to Aswan booked through ETP, however we sat at the lock in Aswan for 10 hours waiting our turn to get through - not the ship's fault, but one of the two locks has been under repair for quite some time, we should have been advised.
We spent hours in a mini bus that day instead of "cruising the Nile". We sailed at night - nothing seen! We had a one day cruise basically and one other full night. Talk about false advertising.
We did spend 4 nights on board, our room was comfortable, the catering was excellent, staff were accommodating but we didn’t get what we paid for. A deposit was requested per person, expected and provided, but ETP requested balance of payment in Euros, USD or GBP - quite inconvenient if you're from Australia or NZ. To pay the balance on credit card adds very substantially to the cost - a total rip off. It was also a very biased exchange rate.
My advice is to shop around. Companies like this are basically third-party sellers.

We had a great experience with our Egyptologist, Miss Reham Sabry on our tour over 2 days of Cairo. She was a lovely lady and explained everything we saw in GEM and the other museums very clearly. She took really good photos of us too! The Pyramids and Great Sphinx were also very informative with her guidance. It was really interesting because of Miss Reham and highly recommended. Our driver was also great.

The tour was well organized and the tour guides provided were very good.

Marehan was very patient and kind during the planning phase which made the process seamless.

All pick-ups were on time they provided answers in a timely manner.

I haven't made it to my trip yet, but if the trip is anything like my planning experience...I know it's going to be amazing! Planning my family trip with Shorouk has been nothing but great. She's extremely patient and answered hundreds of my questions without hesitation. I'm a very indecisive person and planning thus far has been seamless. I booked the 8 Days Cairo & Nile Cruise Tour Package for two people, and we modified it to add more days and suit our arrival and departure times better.
Everything was fantastic, from the communication with the booking team to the guides, services, hotels etc.

Our guides were all very knowledgeable. Emy in Cairo was super informative and taught us some fab things that then helped us "read" Egyptian culture. She also took some fab photos for us and made us feel very looked after. Mahmood on the cruise made the whole process feel smooth and the long days feel fun. He was generally really great at looking after all of us. Walid, who I only met for the Abu Simbel trip, was really lovely and supportive with some dietary concerns.
The hotels, meals, and transport were generally of great quality, and everything worked like a well-oiled machine.
It was our first cruise experience but also the first time I ever joined an organised tour. So we were a bit apprehensive, but we totally loved the experience. We really felt looked after and in expert hands. I would definitely recommend it.

Reham Sabry, a wonderful Egyptologist whose passion for Egypt’s history made our visit truly special. She brought the achievements of ancient Egypt to life and shared her enthusiasm as we explored the pyramids and Cairo’s beautiful mosques.

We especially appreciated
Reham’s kindness and consideration for older travelers, allowing us to enjoy the sights at a comfortable pace. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, passionate, and caring guide.

We had a terrific experience in every way. The booking process for our two day tour in Cairo followed by a Nile cruise, both with private guides, was simple and straightforward.

Each step from our arrival in Cairo to our departure from Aswan was incredibly well organized. Transfers, tours, transportation, and meals were all managed seamlessly.

Our guides, Ahmed Farag in Cairo and Mahmoud Gamal during our cruise, were both extremely knowledgeable and made it possible for us to truly appreciate and enjoy all that we saw.

Our Egyptologist guide, Essam Elsayad was exquisite. Both my sister and I enjoyed being with him immensely. Mr. Essam was so knowledgeable, and at all times, professional. He took time to tell us about everything and answer all our questions. Seeing things we have heard about our whole life was really incredible. Being in Egypt was a dream come true. We want to thank Mr. Essam for helping make it so.

Exactly as advertised. Good communication from Muhamed, followed by informative tour guides Yasser and Mohamed and great drivers. The hotels we stayed in were of a high standard.

On our first day of the our tour, our guide Marian Azer met us at the lobby hotel. We started with the Valley of the Kings and ended day 1 at the Karnak Temple. Second day we started with Habu temple and ended with Ramose’s Tomb. This has been my number 1 vacation destination spot that i have been wanting to visit for a very long time. With Marian Azer’s expertise my dream finally came true. Marian thank you for the best experience ever! Oh by the way, the driver was great. We felt safe in all the crazy traffic. - 09/29/25 & 10/01/26.

Visiting the pyramids has been a dream of mine for a long time. Glad to have that bucket list item checked off.
Ahmed Elgorhary, our tour guide, was a wealth of knowledge. He was able to elaborate on common known facts as well as educate us on little known details. It was nice to have him there to point out small details on the statues, architecture, and pyramids that we would have otherwise missed. It was obvious that he is very well versed in ancient Egyption history! Hussain, our driver, navigated the tour stops through the crazy Egyptian traffic with expert skill and ease. He made us feel secure on every drive.
Both Ahmed and Hussain were courteous and friendly. We went with a private tour guide verses being in a group so that we could tailor our days on the fly. They worked with us when we wanted to stay at one site or another a little longer, and knew exactly when to nudge us along to fit in everything we wanted to do that day. Very happy with the tour, our guide and our driver!
The only negative of our trip was the stop at the papyrus store. The sales person gave an ok demonstration, but was very pushy at the end. He used every high pressure sales tactic there is. That experience definitely tainted the day.
I forgot to mention Ahmed is a great picture taker also! He got some great shots of us that we will definitely be displaying when we get back home.

We are on day 3 of our 12 day trip and so far, all has been great! Mr. Anton expedited the airport process to make it as simple and easy as possible. We have been so fortunate to have driver Hussain and tour guide Ahmad Elgohary for our whirlwind, private tour of Saqqara, Dahshur, Giza, GEM and Alexandria. Ahmad's logistical advice has been priceless to make sure we see everything desired (including entry into 5 pyramids) by starting our days early and coordinating every detail. Hussain is an incredible driver and has somehow made us feel safe even when we are in traffic and driving we have never experienced. The vehicles are comfortable and he has the A/C cold whenever he picks us up. Highly recommend!

Ahmad is a brilliant guide. He just incredibly knowledgeable.
