Avoid BP Pulse as they are now called
Avoid BP Pulse as they are now called. They have taken over 6 weeks to reply to an application. I had to carry out a detailed survey for them, send multiple documents, pictures etc. They finally reply asking if trenching is required! Clearly further stalling.
Luckily there are plenty of other suppliers which are much better.

Avoid this company at all costs
We were given an electric car for work purposes. The person that ensured we got one believes everyone should drive an electric car and be vegetarian/vegan. To be fair the car is great. Surprisingly quick and REALLY upsets boy racers! However, we have a BP Chargemaster account and this is where things go VERY wrong. There are two fast chargers for this company (that we are aware of) within a several mile radius of our office. One is close in Swadlincote bus station carpark but was rarely working and completely stopped a number of weeks ago. The other is in Burton on trent, same problem. We have the 'snail' chargers but these take several hours to charge our work vehicle so not acceptable. The customer service of this shower of incompetent individuals is abysmal to say the least. They are always busy and the bloody music on repeat is driving me homicidal!
The CEO of this, I hesitate to say 'organisation' as this might be taken as they have some, should be given their P45.
This company is likely to kill the electric car industry single handedly due to utter incompetence.
When I can I assure you that I will be driving a turbo diesel and probably looking out for a nice, fat rare steak for the friend of the earth who made sure we have a work vehicle that needs to spend most of the working day on charge.
Quite an achievement to be this bad!
Zero communication
Zero delivery
Promised refund of £150 that never came for a switch they then said they could not do. Bye Bye £150
Trading Standards ought to get hold of this lot

Temperamental
I live in a flat in London and so can’t have a home charger installed, but wasn’t worried because (on paper) the local EV charging infrastructure looks decent. I signed up with what was originally called Polar, then BP Chargemaster, then more recently BP Pulse: with each reincarnation the quality of the service gets worse and worse.
While the charging points do work the majority of times, there has been a not insignificant amount of negative experiences where the chargers are frozen or broken. The customer service (previously great under Polar) is abysmal, 45min wait as a minimum, and never able to help you out remotely (again never a problem under Polar). The painful thing is that they seem to have the most extensive charging network in London - albeit a poorly operated and maintained one - so they can do as they please in the knowledge that most people will be forced to use them at some point.
I’ve given two stars because, as I say, most experiences are relatively pain-free. When things do go wrong, however, the company is excruciating to deal with.
New to the EV and charging
New to the EV and charging. Downloaded the BP App and added a bance, used a local 7KW charger no proble. Yesterday went to use the CSS charger, just to try. Tried 3 sites, car says connected, BP charger says not connected, tried a third this would not accept my APP but happily accepted my credit card. Tried to phone, waited 33 mins on hold due to Covid situation. Also having so many issues in trying to get the home charger installed. So I am now wary and wondering if my EV charging via BP is going to become a ongoing stressful period each time I need to charge and if they never answer a phone, I wonder what happens when you become stuck and not able to charge.
Plug in Hybrid and BP Pulse charging nightmare
I thought buying a plug in Volvo Hybrid would be the way forward, green, easy to charge at home or a charge point ? How wrong I was.. without going in all the details, such as a blown battery fuse and faulty module on the car itself, and only suppling a cable for a 13amp plug.
However I finally bought a type 2 cable and plug to charge at a retail outlet, thought I'd just plug in, tap my master card and away we go, simple but NO.
Arrived at an Asda store Charge point owned by BP Pulse to charge, then finding the screen saying swipe your RFID card to start ? so rung the number to find how operate.( long wait) Apparently I'm supposed to download their app, set up an account with £7.00 a month fee and they'd send out the card.
Didn't want to do that, so instead they said I could download the app, put £5.00 into the account and pay as you go..
Not that simple because to start charging you have to get a serial number off the charge unit, tap it into the app'.
Tried that but there wasn't a number on the unit, so rung back and waited, by that time my phone battery was nearly flat. They said the unit might be faulty, so connected to another, still no number ( in the meantime accidentally tripped over the cable cutting my hand ) ..
They tried to connect it remotely.. finally managed it..
I charged for over an hour, ran out of time having been messing around for 2 hours, got 9 miles of charge, unplugged and drove off, totally pissed off..
What a complete fiasco of a company and charging network. Also demotivating for anyone trying to go electric and green..
I shall just use petrol most of the time and charge of my regular 13amp socket when I have time. No more public charge scams.
Do not buy
Do not buy . It has hardly ever worked since it was fitted. Managed to get them to repair it and still didn’t work . They refuse to answer emails and we are fed up trying to get through on on the phone. It messed up my car computer system and car had to be towed to the garage. I am fed up and sickened . I love my Mitsubishi Outlander but Without this charger there is no point in having the car . I might as well just buy a petrol car with better MPG . So sickened and angry and their COVID excuse does not stand any longer for their Bad product and service
Why is there not a zero star rating for…
Why is there not a zero star rating for companies like this.
It took 19 weeks to get the charger fitted through the Mercedes offer which suggested 2 weeks as the norm.
I have now had the charger fitted and at first the schedule which allows me to use cheap rate electricity did not work.
I did get a response from BP Chargemaster which involved a shutdown, download a new version of the app and then a restart and now I have a charger which gives short bursts of charge every 15 minutes outside the scheduled time.
This is obviously costing me extra money on top of the additional costs which BP Chargemaster charged me for the extra cable run which they then could not provide. Heading for a court case over this.
Avoid them like the plague.
Please chose an alternative provider
We paid for install over two months ago, have called them over 20 times and sent a wealth of emails and are yet to get a response. This really is a diabolical organisation. Please chose an alternative provider, a provider who actually care about their customers..
absolutely shocking the level of…
absolutely shocking the level of service had problems from the start to get the home charger installed and when eventually it got done its continued with the app not connecting to the charge numerous calls emails promises of technical call back which never come. I have never left any bad reviews in my life but please if you have a choice do not us BP they are horrendous for such a iconic company beyond words how bad they are
NOT RECOMMENDED
We are a commercial customer with BP Chargemaster/Pulse and sadly after the initial 'honeymoon' period the follow up customer service is quite frankly not worth the paper it is written on.
I would wholeheartedly NOT recommend using BP Chargemaster/Pulse.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
We had a home charger installed through motability, engineer was adamant it doesn't draw power when the car isn't plugged in but you can hear it humming. If its humming it's using power! We rarely use it and yet our electricity bill has doubled from £74pm to £147! I started turning the fuse box off when not in use and what do you know? Our usage is back to normal! As for public chargers! BP are the most unreliable of all the chargers we have used. We are currently using the 3 months free membership and have so far been let down on every long journey we have done so will be cancelling the membership before the 3 months run out
Ah now it all makes sense!
Ah now it all makes sense! The 4 week wait for a key fob that didn't work when it arrived, the phone calls not answered, the e mails not answered, the charging points not working, the utterly diabolical non existent customer service. It's a Mickey Mouse company with poor leadership. Look at the reviews, recognise the problem, sack the idiot in charge and try to turn it around. I'm on the verge of cancelling my direct debit, selling the car and going back to diesel!
Took money but gave no service in return!!
Tried to use one of their public chargers, the pre-auth fee of £15 was debited from my account despite no charge being delivered. Tried calling to resolve but no answer, have emailed but 48 hours later no response. Avoid BP Pulse Chargers like the plague!!
A BP Chargemaster point took 4 x £15…
A BP Chargemaster point took 4 x £15 from my credit card but I didn’t receive electricity. Took 45 minutes to answer phone and the guys dog was incessantly barking in the background. He told me he has no idea how the system works but call back after 2 weeks for a refund, as that would be when the claim could be valid. I have never ever experienced such a terrible service and reaction to a customer. I WILL NEVER EVER use a BP product again, I would rather eat live electricity cables :(
Ditto to all the comments on this site…
Ditto to all the comments on this site I am not going to go into the full story as it is the same as the rest. I will add the following from BP... the charger relies on a 2G mobile signal to operate and we can see you are in a poor area, two things to be gained by this 2G is old technology soon to be phased out by most mobile networks, second I live in a built up area and have never had issues with mobile signals, BP where is the proof as you have failed to send an engineer after many requests.
I am trying the Credit card Section 75 route at the moment altough that is not as simple as expected they want an independent review, who is going to write it ? no idea ...as most other installers don't use BP products and cannot comment....
I would advise contacting all the consumer rights people/shows they are intrested...
Shocking overall service
Shocking overall service - took months to install, and after sales contact non existent - they simply ignore emails !
Highly unreliable and always broken
Highly unreliable and charge points are always broken. In addition to this, my card hasn’t worked for around 3 months, called bp pulse and asked for a new one to be sent and the customer service were reluctant in to sending a new one. Eventually I asked to be put through to their manager in which they then accepted a new card to be sent out to me. Still waiting for my card and it’s been nearly two weeks!! And the app is unreliable and doesn’t always connect to the charge points so has been virtually impossible to charge my car on public chargers via the app or card! Absolutely terrible service & not worth the monthly subscription.
If getting out and pushing was an…
If getting out and pushing was an option to charge an electric car it would be more appealing than using BP Pulse.
I've been a BP Pulse victim since November 2020 and I think at best have managed to charge about one third of the times I've tried.
