Poor experience, broken promises
I was entirely out of an Rx and needed an urgent refill shipped to me. I was willing to pay for expedited shipping. I was promised via chat overnight service, but the next day, it didn't arrive. So I engaged again. I was told "Oh, there's two-day processing before it ships, but you should get it Thursday or Friday".
Okay.
Thursday rolls around and still nothing, so I decide to check in. They tell me, "Oh, the 'urgent' status was applied to a different order which was out of refills. (Wut?) We can do a "special exception" and Urgent Process it for you again and get it to you in less than six business days." Mind you, I told them on the first contact this is a heart-rate medication I'm not supposed to stop suddenly, and they promised to expedite it. After going back and forth, the best option is for me to pick up the Rx at a nearby CVS retail pharmacy.
Cool. (Why wasn't I given that option in the first place?)
Turns out, CVS Caremark cannot transfer a prescription to one of their CVS retail pharmacies, so I have to call my doctor and have them call in ANOTHER prescription.
I'm given the usual AI-recommended platitudes: "Oh, I'm so sorry. Your frustration is valid. We take full responsibility. Is there anything I can do? etc."
That I waited to refill is my fault, I was expecting auto-refill would be automatic or that, at least, would be sent a notice that I was due to refill. To be fair, I did get a notice to refill, but it was sent to my email two weeks after I had received a 90-day supply, so the 'reminder' was useless.
It's not that their people are unhelpful or rude, it's that their customer service has no continuity, or visibility into previous interactions, or reflection of status in their website, or reliable follow-through, or basic notifications. If I had not proactively checked in, I would be waiting, and waiting, and waiting (or dead on the floor from a stroke)
When the company I work for moved to 90-day mail order to "save costs", we were promised better customer service. That hasn't been the case.
Needed prescriptions sent to wrong address
Needed prescriptions delayed 5 days, then sent to wrong address.
I do not have them. I notified CVS Caremark of the error PRIOR to them finally getting around to mailing them out. Still they sent medications to the wrong place.
AND
I am being charged for them, even though I have not gotten them.
I cannot imagine a worse service.
No one and nothing on the website or in the "Contact Us" will fix CVS's error of sending medications to wrong address AND then charging me for them too is just beyond the pale.
I never thought this experience would…
I never thought this experience would be so HORRIBLE! On the phone for 40 Minutes I'm still on hold as didn't know they were this badz!!
CVS Caremark has only care for their profit
My insurance requires I use CVS Specialty Pharmacy as the preferred pharmacy, otherwise I wouldn't come near it.
I have been pulling my hair out for a year dealing with this company. I think their large contract with the Federal Employee Program should absolutely be reviewed. They obviously can't handle it.
Other specialty pharmacies always manage to get me my prescriptions on time. CVS Specialty has NEVER been able to deliver on time. Not once. They say it takes 5 days to get pre- authorization to fill prescriptions. Other specialty pharmacies take 1-2 days. That's after refusing to fill them for days because the doctor's order isn't perfectly to their liking dotting i's and crossing t's. Other pharmacies don't have this problem so why is it a problem here? When CVS Specialty says it will ship same day, or promise to deliver tomorrow, why does it take days or weeks? Why do they promise these timelines when they can't live up to them? It's deceiving and irresponsible.
I have spent HOURS on the phone trying to solve their problems so I can get my medicine. I have never had to do that anywhere else, ever. There is no accountability here. They are way too comfortable with themselves and no longer providing good service. It's time for them to get some competition and motivate them to do better otherwise they will continue to be complacent. I agree with other reviews, it's time for me to pay out of pocket and go frequent specialty pharmacies who still work for their patients' satisfaction
I would give zero stars if possible
I would give zero stars if possible
Truly the worst mismanaged service provider
It’s taking 3 months with my doctor having to write the same Rx 4 times and still no progress
They should be investigated and fired
Ridiculous
THE WORST MAIL ORDER PHARMACY
If I could give them 0 stars I would. In more than a year they have yet to process any physician prescription orders correctly. Their favorite response is "denied by prescriber" even after seeing my doctor send the order. They SUCK!!!
I tried for 3 weeks, no medication
I tried for 3 weeks in January 2026 to refill a prescription which had a 90 day refill available. I spoke to CVS Caremark customer service 4 times within this time frame. They assured me 3 times that my order was processed and I should receive it within the week. I never received the prescription and the last time I spoke to them they told me the order was not shipped yet. After waiting three weeks, I ran out of medication and had to contact my doctor for an emergency refill. Needless to say I will not be using their services and have transferred my prescriptions to a local pharmacy.
Abuse of Elderly Customers
My elderly family member contacted Caremark regarding a prescription to which their doctor had made a dose change. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes the Caremark rep was rude and then hung up on my family member without attempting to resolve the prescription problem.
Horrible communication practices
Very disappointed. CVS Caremark advised me that 2 of my providers were not responding to their communications regarding my prescription refills. I checked with both providers and neither had received any communication from CVS Caremark. CVS Caremark advised me they send these requests via Fax. I checked, and it turns out that CVS Caremark had an incorrect fax number for one of my providers. I provided them with the correct fax number, asked them to update their records on the provider, and more importantly, asked CVS Caremark if they have a process in place to actually CHECK the fax confirmation sheets to see if these faxes have actually gone through. I asked two difference CVS Caremark reps, and neither could give me any answer to this simple question (which leads me to believe they do not check). Come on guys, this is pretty basic! Bottom line, I had to spend about 2 hours on the phone with CVS Caremark and with my 2 providers to try to get basic prescriptions refilled.
I wish I could rate this lower but 1…
I wish I could rate this lower but 1 star is as low as I can go. I don’t know why my company switched to Caremark because they definitely suck. I’ve been with them since January 1 and wish I could go back to express scripts.
CVS Caremark shouldn't be in business.
Do not use Blue Cross Blue shield or CVS caremark. CVS Caremark does not care about you or what you need. My employer switched insurance to this circus act and I called numerous times and politely asked if they would cover my medications, and what I needed to do to get them switched over so that when my insurance kicks in on the 1st I could have access to my medication which I need to live.
CVS response is, until you pay us 1600$ for the first month and its past the 1st of the month we can't help you or answer questions because you don't have an account.
If you went to any business to buy anything, say a car at 1600$ a month and asked them if the car is going to work and they said "we can't tell you until you give us the money because you're not officially a paying customer until after you pay for the car" Would you agree to that?! If so please call me I have a car for you and above a 1 star review rating....
Shady deals between CVS and Wegovy
Two different doctors want me on Zepbound. One for my sleep apnea. CVS Caremark has refused to cover it. I have no other way to get the drugs my doctors want me to take. I will be researching who covers prescriptions for the other insurers for next year and switch from Anthem if another one can get me the care my doctors recommend. I think CVS must have a backroom deal with the Wegovy manufacturer to ensure people take their drug when my doctors want me on Zepbound. My care should not be subject to a financial arrangement between two huge corporations. Gross abuse.
Terrible and evil like all the others
Prior authorization for a provider-provided prescription is more predatory insurance bs. It’s bad enough I have to wait for another prescription to be mailed from their “speciality pharmacy” in another state instead of getting it filled at the pharmacy right next to me like I’ve been doing for years. What they do impacts people’s literally HEALTH and it’s baffling that insurance companies do this sh*t let alone permitted to do this.
When to open up my c
When to open up my c, v, s, vitamin D3 bottleThat doesn't expire for another year are spoiled. Bought these using my Aetna insurance bonus that you get quarterly.
I WILL NOT buy any more over the counter or prescriptions through cvs. THEY ARE SENT BY THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE.THEREFORE, THEY ARE SUBJECT TO HEAT AND COLD AND SPOIL.EASILY.
CVS Caremark is the worst- no comparison
Cvs caremark is literally the worst PBM. I have also dealt with OptumRx and ExpressScripts and CVS Caremark is absolutely the worst. No comparison. Their app and website are never useable to resolve my issue, I end up calling the help line and I think they purposefully staff representatives who have the least amount of knowledge of anything. They never even understand what medication I'm calling about. Every single prescription fill is a battle. I'm currently on hold for my 6th call about 1 of my prescriptions. It is controlled (like most rxs) but it is not a rare, nor expensive nor commonly abused medication and every time I call in- I'm told something different. I'm not even going to go into the CVS specific grievances, like constant HIPAA violations- providing me with Rx details for a complete stranger.. Stay far away from CVS Caremark if you can. The FDA or some govt agency NEEDS to investigate CVS and CVS Caremark's practices. I have never had such constant issues with any other PBM.
0 stars if I could
I switched over to CVS pharmacy through my health insurance company to get my prescriptions delivered to my home because I thought it would be an easier and seamless process. It has been anything but that. CVS has left a gap in my medication for 2 prescriptions that are not negotiable for my health. The link provided to the CVS app is different from the one connected to my insurance company and hard to access, even though I’m computer savvy. And the customer support overall is abysmal. I have had to get my doctor to send a prescription to my local pharmacy to cover the gap between delivery times and pay for them out of pocket. This is a great way to save the companies money by eeking out medication with gaps. I’m sure it adds to their profits at the expense of their patients. But it shouldn’t have to be that hard. I worry that those who don’t have the ability to navigate through the system or don’t have the good fortune to have an excellent doctor who is easy to reach and responsive. This has created extra work for me, my doctor, and the customer support team of my insurance company. CVS provides an AI generated messaging service if I can find their website. This service has failed miserably and I cannot justify continuing to use it. The sad part for me is that I believe it was designed this way.
they deni almost all claims

DO NOT SPEAK TO A REPRESENTITIVE if you…
DO NOT SPEAK TO A REPRESENTITIVE if you are updating your payment method USE THE AI. You will have a lot better luck accomplishing your task. Also if you need to add Appointment of Representative it only lasts for one year. This company is exactly what is wrong with our health care system in USA. Hey CEO review your policies.
Incompetent, Phenomenally BAD Company
What a phenomenally bad company. I sent a complaint to them, along with two letters I had written to CVS, requesting (for the 12th time) that they not contact any of my providers for refills. The response I got was 1. Can't find your account (they spelled my name wrong in the letter),
2. Because we can't find your account, we can't process your request for a refund.
WTF??? I didn't ask for a refund for ANYTHING. Where can a patient go to get actual and competent care???
This company couldn't improve if it…
This company couldn't improve if it tried. This is the absolute worst prescription management company in existence. They always have issues filling even the simplest of orders. Unfortunately we're stuck with them because of our health insurance. I have to call on a nearly daily basis for some screw up or another. Mr doctor and his nurse even HATE dealing with them.
