I’ve dealt with Cabot across multiple accounts and the experience has been consistently poor: slow, evasive, and wildly inconsistent.
On the CCA (s.77/78) side, Cabot’s handling has been a grind — long delays, generic responses, and no sense of urgency despite the obvious impact this has on consumers when enforceability and accuracy are disputed.
What really takes the biscuit is Cabot’s habit of acting like they’re merely a messenger. In a Final Response dated 12 February 2026, Cabot effectively declined to deal with key complaint points and pushed responsibility back toward the original lender — despite Cabot continuing to report/process the account as the debt owner. If you own the account, you don’t get to outsource accountability when challenged.
I escalated matters to the Financial Ombudsman Service in January 2026, and Cabot’s engagement has been slow there too, again, more “process” than resolution. The FOS are STILL waiting on the business file.
They also treat different accounts differently. One account gets one stance (including around settlement/engagement), another gets a completely different stance in broadly comparable circumstances. It feels arbitrary and outcome-driven, not consistent.
Overall: Cabot operate like an admin machine designed to delay and deflect. If you don't know what you are doing to fight their incompetence, seek advice because they'll try anything to grind you down.

The agents were very friendly and helped me work out the best way to pay off my debt. They understood and helped ease the anxiety I had with dealing with them. I would say would work with again, but seeing as I don't want to be in debt, I'm just glad it was with Cabot sorting it. My only gripe was trying to view confidential letters on the mobile version, it wouldn't work for me no matter what.

I explained my situation with being a full time dad & carer for my son, not being able to work, my car constantly breaking down, he understood my situation.
What was nice that he actually was concerned & wanted to make sure I had enough funds to clear my account.
I’ve now set up a payment plan & my last payment will be on July of this year! I can’t explain how happy & relieved I feel that my debt will soon be paid off.
We all fall into debt at some point & it’s important to set up a payment plan, especially if you want to build your credit & relationship with the bank, this is something I’m trying to prioritise so that I can have good credit for the future so I’m approved for finance & able to buy a reliable new car to take my son back & forth to school etc.
Ashley also praised me as I explained all my priority bills are paid & Im only using my credit card for emergencies.
So please call Cabot & talk to them they will listen & help you like they have me.
