Poor customer service once order placed. They create a dispatch notice before even giving the item to the courier service. Trying to get in touch regarding a current order is not easy: what's the point in displaying a contact number and then writing "we don't answer the phone" next to it? I emailed to ask a question about a lost order, no response, a week later received an email stating that part of my order is out of stock, did I still want the item? I understand they are a 'small business', I order frequently from small businesses and have never experienced such an unenthusiastic approach to providing basic customer service for paying customers.

Disappointing. Ordered the Phyllis Navy linen trousers. Wrong trousers were delivered and the zip was broken/stuck. Ordered a second pair - correct item this time - again zip was stuck. Sent email to British Retro - 'Belle' replied and sent me a returns note. Sent both pairs back. Told it takes 14 days for a refund. Ordered third pair in a larger size - zip again broken. Made a complaint to 'Belle' ( more likely some bloke) who exclaimed that it must be something to do with the fit rather than the manufacture. Nice customer service. Finally got my refund 21 days later after chasing up - no apology. Shame - nice clothes if they aren't broken but I won't be buying from them again. Check out Trust Pilots note above for fraudulent and paid reviews on here about them. Says it all. Wish I'd seen this first. If you leave an honest review on their site they just take it down.

Ordered a dress for my girlfriend but DPD lost it. I complained to DPD but they said that, since they marked it as delivered, I would have to contact British Retro to get a new dress. I did that and British Retro said that they'd try to find the answer but it would take about 10 working days. After 10 working days they told me that they had sent a replacement. The replacement arrived the next day via Royal Mail.
The dress was beautiful and fit my girlfriend perfectly. She absolutely loved it. It's a shame that DPD lost it or she would have been able to enjoy it on our anniversary like I had planned but oh well.
Anyway, great quality, great service and great prices.
My girlfriend can expect another dress from British Retro soon

The photo of the item I ordered must have been heavily edited, as the item I received was a completely different shade. It just looked like an entirely different dress because the colour was so off. I don’t mind paying for delivery or returns, as I appreciate this is a small business, however in this instance I feel I’ve been mislead by the photo so it’s not my fault! It’s a shame as I’ve ordered 4 dresses previously and I’ve been very happy with those. I think the photos need to be edited to still look like the products.

I bought this dress to get married in not knowing what to expect, it was delivered within a few days. The size was perfect and the fit really flattering, i had so many compliments on the day, it really looks and feels a lot more expensive than it was

Company sent wrong item, then made me arrange return with Royal Mail, then claimed the returned item hadn’t arrived & so wouldn’t refund me or send a replacement after that whole ordeal- for a mistake they made.

I would just like to say that why do put items in the sale but increase the prices and call them SALES items. I recently brought a couple of dresses which were absolutely beautiful but since then they have so called increased in price but are in the sale. Please stop lying to your customers as you will be losing them. We are not stupid

I love the clothes from this company.
As a 76 year old I am delighted as they are so flattering.
Superb quality beautifully made but I did have to size up.
I have 5 of the swing dresses and 3 wonderland coats in different coliurs.
They are not cheap but well worth the money and they have regular sales.
Would not shop anywhere else now for vintage clothes.

Ordered 5 brooches which weren't delivered; it slipped my mind and it was over a month before I chased it up. British Retro were responsive and helpful. I really appreciate their commitment to customer care and I love my brooches which would make ideal gifts as they come in beautiful bags - but I love them so much I want to keep them all!
