The quality of the dresses are amazing and the customer service received is top notch.
I recently had something not quite right with an order and it was sorted super quickly and without a fuss and with real care.

Great customer service, and the dresses and products are of high quality and are very well made. Belle and her team have been incredibly helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this brand.

When you buy a brand new dress - especially at elevated prices, you don't expect one of its buttons to fall off the first time of wearing it - whilst it's still on your body! This is what happened. Oh well, never mind. I'll sew on the replacement button - which is what would have happened if I hadn't misplaced it. My bad. Come to put the dress on for the(whole) second time, and I remembered the missing button. Dress put back on hanger for another day. Mood: slight disappointment.
No worries, I'll contact the company and ask for them to send out a replacement
button - either gratis or I'll open my wallet and pay for one.
Well.... what masquerades as 'customer services ' or something alluding to that, could not have been less helpful if they tried. You'd think as a company that purports to sell quality British clothing, they would not sell costly dresses in which the buttons decide to kamikaze at the slightest waft of air. Were they helpful at trying to come to a solution and send me a replacement button? They couldn't be less interested, bordering on rude. Attitude adjustment required, clearly, with a return to a course entitled 'How to Keep Your Customers Happy: Basic Customer Services', strongly advised!
I wouldn't mind, but this was my third purchase from this so-called company. And my last!
Mood: disappointed.
Dress: still on its hanger, not to be worn, feeling forlorn.

It’s good quality and reliably well made: but the sizing in the last year has got much smaller. I have been buying from here since 2019 and still own all of my collection and it all still fits. I used to get an 8, now I get a 12 or 14. Just warning you so you can avoid disappointment.

Great quality dress. Ordered for my graduation, initially received the incorrect dress (similar names and colours of dresses - easy mistake to make) but all it took was one email to correct it. British Retro paid for the return of the incorrect dress and sent the new one which I received 2 days later! Speedy customer service who were so lovely and the dress fits perfectly! (Size 12) Would definitely buy from again!!

Dress & petticoat are as described, the dress is lovely and the petticoat really helps with the volume and is confortable to wear. Size corresponds to site description, overall very satisfied and would buy again :)

Recently discovered this company and ordered one of their dresses. Sizing was perfect and the quality of the material and finish is amazing. It's so good I've just ordered from British Retro again. If you love the 1950s vibe and quality clothing at a great price, I'd highly recommend you try British Retro

Have bought a few dresses from this website now and I'm always in love with the styles. I have to knock a star off though as I feel the quality of the dresses can be hit and miss, comparing the first dress I bought to the last one I can see a slight but still noticable decline in quality of the fabric despite the prices rising.

Just made my first order, the dress looks amazing, the sign up and 10% off was easy. However the website is a nightmare! Please British retro stop the page jumping back to the first product when backing out of a product. Make the size filters work, and when you add an in-stock product then it jumps to out of stock. Then you have to clear it to select a different size. I’m stressed!

Their returns system isn’t as easy as some companies and not free postage and I did panic a bit after reading some negative reviews on here regarding returns. But I can report that I did get my refund on a dress (minus postage) and it was within their 14 days as stated. You can only contact them via email, but they do get back to you. If you are sending a dress straight back after receiving it, you might need to give it a day or 2 before you can check the refund on your profile otherwise it shows as non refundable. I think it’s their system verifying that it’s arrived at its destination?
My daughter’s skirt fitted her perfectly and it is nice quality.

Ik heb hier een paar leopard handschoenen besteld die er op de website een stuk beter uitzagen dan ze in werkelijkheid zijn. Kwaliteit erg slecht. Handschoenen vallen erg klein (ik heb geen grote handen).

Beautiful dress. Lovely material and fits perfectly. I chose a size bigger as recommended on page and it’s so comfy. Bought for a friends wedding and can’t wait to wear it. I also bought a petticoat and I love this petticoat so much! So full, feels lovely, no scratchiness.

Purchased the red Dee Dee dress & petticoat for a recent blacktie event on a cruise & can honestly say I felt a million dollars. Quality of the fabric was beautiful & I got lots of amazing comments. I didn't see any person on board with a similar dress on. Thank you so much for making me feel special.

Beautiful well made clothes, high quality material, I have brought a number of dresses and skirts from British Retro over the years, they are always stunning and comfortable.

Cons
Sizes come up small ( I am UK 14, 5'3, curvy) I have to buy size 18 in British retro sizes.

I would like to add Size 16/18 which sell out really fast, so I don't be disappointed if you can't get your size.

British Retro is my go to shop when I have a special event coming up. The dresses are true to size and beautifully made.
I recently had a problem with my order and it's the best Customer Service I have ever received. The problem was resolved within 48 hours, and I am a very happy customer.
I would highly recommend British Retro not only for their beautiful clothes and accessories but also as a company who care about their customers.
