This was the worse experience ever was my friend birthday day, as we reached at the place we asked the receptionist what time the swimming pool will be close and been told will be close at 8pm . Afterwards as we reached to the swimming pools and spa session place around 6:20pm they told us is closing at 7pm however they didn’t let us enter saying we’re cleaning now when there is still 1hours left to the closing time. This’s very unprofessional behaviour and not too very nice with their guests. Very disappointed and disgusting also room was soo cold .

Contacted the call centre regarding my booking and had the most helpful and knowledgeable advisor thanks Natasha much appreciated

I use Britannia Hotels regular at various sites all over the country and received a parking penalty because the tablet for entry was out of service when I arrived. Despite appealing to the parking company with a receipt of my stay they chose to continue with the charge and I have wasted lots of time defending this and we are now at an adjudicator. Ive been emailing and calling the hotel in question with no one answering either the email or phone calls. Customer service is an absolute joke.

The hotel rooms have always been good value, clean and perfectly adequate but I cannot recommend this organisation purely because of its absolutely shocking customer service. This whole episode has cost me several hours of my time and £30 in phone calls so far (because the number isnt local number)

Excellent night's stay. Speedy check in, great access to airport, friendly staff, clean room and bathroom, and well heated. Great hot chocolate in the bar! Really good value!

This hotel was a disaster. Dirty rooms, rude staff, and terrible service. It didn’t feel safe or welcoming. Avoid at all costs!

Stayed here numerous times over the year and seem improvement and also cut backs. We had a lovely refurbished room, warm and comfortable on the second floor. We did not get any room service during our stay We went from 23rd December to 27th December and the hotel was probably at full capacity.

People were queuing from canteen doors to into the reception 30 minutes before the doors opened.

Breakfast was the best meal of the day by far. Not enough tables to accommodate the amount of people so I suggest sittings introduced. Food was not replaced fast enough.

Entertainment was mediocre. Male singer in ABBA was useless however Amber the female vocal was excellent.

Did not get Christmas day night entertainment due to a family fighting and their children running riot, police were called and they were removed but too late for the entertainment as the singer packed up and went home before even starting.

Christmas dinner was embarrassing. Sandwich turkey meat, and sandwich gammon. (Not cavery) veg were hard and raw, stuffin' so hard it would not cut. Not a Christmas dinner at all.

Bar we were queuing 40 mins to be served in plastic cups. £4 for a pint of coke that was flat. We resorted to use the vending machine in the entrance £1.20 a can, way cheaper buying 2 cans and no wait. Cash too as bar only take card payment.

Many bringing their own drinks in as queuing and prices were disgusting. £25 for a bottle of wine.

All in all I would not recommend this hotel at busy times.

Promised to sort it out make things right but simply ignored my emails and blocked me.

Worst Christmas ever! Stayed at Grand Burstin Folkestone over Christmas dinner bed and breakfast. Only good thing was the room was spacious and comfortable. Milk in fridge was 5 days out of date and all lumpy and smelly! Dirty laundry was left in the corridor for three days, food was awful, Luke warm and congealed, entertainment was dreadful and had to queue for forty minutes to even get a drink from the bar!! Never again!!!

Booked Christmas Panto Show which included 3-course meal and entertainment at the Grand Burstin Hotel, Folkestone. What a fabulous evening! The service provided was excellent throughout - special thanks to Gisele, who looked after our group of 8 from the time we booked and throughout the whole evening. The entertainment and surroundings were fantastic - and the 3-course meal with wine included was very good - excellent value for money - what a great evening, thank you.

Nightmare hotel, my boyfriend and I checked in on the 8th of December for a 1 night stay in Britannia hotel Manchester and we had no water.. no water to flush the toilet, use the sink or shower/bath… we went down to enquire and we were told the water would be back on in a few minutes, with no explanation or even a simple apology from the front desk staff, we wasted our time waiting an hour for the water for it to never turn on, we were left to buy bottles of water from the shop in order for us to have some type of a wash after a long day of travelling, we went back down to enquire again and were met with a security guard who told us the water had been out since early morning due to a problem with the pipes, again no apologies or even a solution we were left being told there’s nothing they can do and to “calm down” even though this was a massive problem for us and impacted our trip, we asked why this hadn’t been mentioned to us when we were checking in as we would not have stayed, again no interest in apologising or even being sympathetic to the situation. The next morning still no water until 10am and it was only cold water, I turned on the hot water tap and it was spitting hot air and brown water. I would never ever ever recommend this hotel, we got no compensation or even a simple apology, I would recommend if you’re looking for a affordable alternative the gardens hotel as they are directly opposite the Piccadilly gardens and everything was satisfactory for us on our second night stay on the 9th of December.

Recent 4 night stay at the Aberdeen Britannia hotel with Caledonian coach tour. Our room was really nice. It was clean apart from dust at the head of the bed . Bed linen was clean and fresh. Radiator could be turned up or down according to need. The bathroom was cleanish there was dust between the bath and the wc. There was a bath and shower. Plenty of hot water when we needed it. The shower curtain had rust stains.
The room itself was ground floor so my disability was taken into consideration when booked.
The hospitality tray was ok and we could refill it ourselves from reception as needed. The mini fridge was effective enough for us to put the open milk container ( we chose to buy ) in to keep it fresh.
Food was very good. Breakfast and evening meal was buffet style so we could have what we liked rather than having everything put on the plate. Therefore less waste. The wait staff were extremely efficient, very helpful and friendly.

Wigan- we were very reluctant to stay here after reading previous reviews.
The hotel is under renovation. The room was modern, spotless and comfortable. Heating and shower needs attention, maybe due to renovation.
Food good, a selection of homemade meals including steak pie and a tasty hearty breakfast.

Some staff need to be more communicative , probably because they are understaffed.
Guy on breakfast was chatty and friendly.

USED NEEDLES IN THE FAMILY ROOMS IVE BOOKED HOW DISGUSTING CAN YOU GET ANY OF THE AIRPORT OF MANCHESTER AND BRITANNIA SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THERE SELF REPERSENTING A DAMAGER TO OUR PUBLIC
It was disgusting we found needles in our room and when we told staff they were laughing about this and couldn't give a damn about it
I want to put a complaint in about a room I stayed in.
On the 16th November 2024 I had booked into Britania Airport Hotel, Palatine Road, Northenden, Manchester M22 4FH.
This was for my birthday, I booked online a standard double room, when I got there they had upgraded me to a family 3 standard room as it was my birthday I was so delighted and thankful.
To then be verry dissapointed and feeling vile, we had dropped our things of in the room and went straight out. We had arrived back into the hotel between 4-5 am in the morning, I had moved a set of draws, to check for a charging plug to come across a used needle. My partner ran straight downstairs explained the situation, they came to check as they were checking the staff were laughing about this situation and talking in there own language and laughing even more. We had explained how disgusting this was as its a used needle that shouldn't be there especially in a family room as if I had brought my children then anything could of happened they laughed again at the situation I asked to be moved room as this point it's past 5am in the morning they moved me from room 805 on the 8th floor to 802 on the 8th floor. We asked the staff to do a check over the room as we don't want to come across another needle or anything like that he moved one pillow and said no needle then started laughing at us again we asked how can this be funny he said we was pathetic all this over a used needle.
So I would like this to go further please as there's drugs being used in your premises, used needles liying about in a family room, and staff were very rude and couldn't care about what is going on in the building. I do have pictures of this and videos. I also have reciepts of bookings and booking numbers. I want a refund aswell please. If nothing gets resolved I will be taking this further. As im being ignore

Two of our party arrived early, they didn't have funds to pay the bill so I phoned to settle the bill over the phone. They CANT TAKE PAYMENT OVER THE PHONE? sorry... What? The staff member was quite rude and abrupt with me , totally couldn't get my frustration...
Secondly, the room was a double bed and two fold up beds, the carpet her marks, sticky bits and chunks of trod In dirt. The bathroom had other peoples hairs in it, chunks of unknown debris on the wall, including near the toilet, shower curtain was stained, walls were marked, loads of dust, TV was tiny.. there was no hand soap in the dispenser so we had to get from reception...shall I continue or are you getting the idea? I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt given the dozens of awful reviews I read but unfortunately I also had a terrible experience.
Lastly, the website says it's £12/24hrs if you validate your ticket at reception.. I was charged more, despite having validated my ticket. So honestly, just don't bother, they say you get what you pay for but it was worth so much less than what we paid.

The most awful experience I’ve ever had. I made a reservation for the 22/11/2024 and the room we were given was in awful conditions, the toiled wasn’t even flushed!!! There was hair inside the bed, and dirty bedding including pieces of food!!. We were offered another room and the room was no much different. We requested new bedding and they were literally thrown to the door! We then decided to change to another hotel as we were not staying in that disgusting place. I’ve been trying to get a refund but they tell me I need to do it through booking.com. I try to contact booking.com and they don’t recognise the stupid pin number THEY gave me. Incredibly unprofessional and useless customer support. Then britannia are saying booking used a third representative for the booking?!? This is just disgusting and no one is assuming responsibility for this. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE. EVER HAD. Not even when traveling through third world countries Ive experience the poor hygiene I experienced here

BEWARE!!! This 'hotel' is a cross between the Cecil Hotel, Fawlty Towers and Prison!

Firstly, I'd like to point out that I don't generally leave negative reviews as I can see the positives in most situations, and I'm a firm believer of 'you get what you pay for'. But, having stayed in some less than desirable dumps around the world, this one is clearly the worst of them all. I'm originally from Bolton, so I was aware of the reputation of this hotel, but as we were only visiting family for 4 days, It was the only one available were we could stay with our dog, and I didn't think it could be as bad as it was. How wrong were we! I'm not sure how it's still operating as I've seen hotels with higher standards closed long before.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by groups of drunk guests dressed in pyjamas, going backward and forth between the bar, the reception and smoking shed at the front of the hotel. We thought it was some sort of fancy dress party, but upon seeing the same thing on each of the subsequent days, we realised this was a normality. The reception area was littered with warning posters displayed on the walls and desks reminding guest about the consequences of taking drugs in the hotel, smoking in rooms and the fines on offer for breach of the rules. We realised at this point that it wasn't a hotel, it was mainly accommodation for homeless, offenders and a small amount of people like us were duped into thinking it was actually a hotel. We shouldn't have checked in at this point but we couldn't find alternative accommodation after a 7 hour drive.

Once the receptionist arrived from their chat with colleagues, we were checked in and asked to sign documents outlining various rules. The reception area and bar looked OK, but as you walked to the rooms, the appearance changed. The doors were painted in a high gloss grey (similar to prison cells doors) and the dreary corridors were littered with empty beer glasses, overflowing bins and warning posters.

The room itself was something of a poor attempt to make a 1970s hotel room appear that it had been updated at some point. Maintenance issues had clearly arisen, but attempts to make repairs had either not been done or attempted by a 7 year old child. Painting had taken place at some point, but there was more on the fixtures and fittings than the walls. Tiles had been replace in the bathroom with mismatched versions. The shower sometimes worked (but when it did, it would either scald you or freeze you, with a shower head that had the same pressure as a pressure washer). There had been some sort of leak from the grab handles on the bath, so plasticine had been used to block the holes. The air con /heating unit didn't function. I attempted to put the heating on but the panel displayed a warning sign to say that it was broken. The bed had springs poking through so we resorted to buying a mattress topper to get through the next few days. Unfortunately, this didn't prevent us from getting a rash.

Fri & Sat night we saw security on. We realised the importance of this after being evacuated due to the fire alarm being set off and being woke again at 2am by a drunken couple physically fighting in the next room.

Even after everything we'd experienced at this point, this wasn't the worst part of our stay! Arriving at my car to head out and see family for the day, I noticed that my car, along with several others had been keyed all down one side. I reported it to reception and asked if we could view the CCTV footage. She refused and said only the manager could access the footage. But, as soon as he arrived, he would take a look and give me a call. I'm still waiting for that call.. I spoke to the receptionist who was on that night, he told me that they knew who it was - it was one of the homeless guys who hangs around the hotel -'he's done it before'. 3 days in and the final response from the head receptionist was to call the Police as they have disclaimers on the car park. I did, but their response was that as it's a private car park, it needs to be dealt with by the hotel.

Bad experience (Britania Hotel conventry)..lodge at the britania hotel conventry for a night,the receptionist that attended to me didn't take his time to find out on there system that I have made my booking before getting there via Agoda leaving me to pay another money..on arrival to the room there was no remote to operate the telly,we called the reception to asked for a remote but didn't get any till I left the next day..the shower was an ancient one that wasn't working..I had to improvise by using the tumbler in the there bathroom to take water from the bath to wash myself..they need to do better with the interior of the hotel...also take there time to attend to their customers..last but not least waiting for my refund of the initial payment i made through agoda to them..

Paid for parking and overnight at hotel, on arrival informed airport transfers would cost us 15 pounds per person each way. Parking is tight so expect dings in your paintwork. Room was not the best and the windows did not close correctly so traffic noise all night. Was only for one night so suffered it. Few days after returning home received a parking fine from Parking eye. Despite having entered reg no in keypad at reception they say there was no record of it and dismissed appeal. Hotel not interested in helping either. Hassle that folk don't need. Do yourself a favour and pay that bit extra for somewhere closer to the airport and save yourself the headache that will follow. Lesson learned and will never be back

Buxton Palace - appalling! Don’t even consider it. Booked on the promise of a pool (required for medical reasons). Told on arrival it was shut. Can people not send texts? Room had a window fixed open and broken facing a main road - told I hadn’t ’booked a quiet room’. A broken window v a quiet room huh? Floor squeeked lthroughout, as if it needed putting out of its wooden misery and allowed to collapse. I actually checked straight out - I’ve NEVER done that in 40 years of extensive travel.
Reception told I hadn’t booked with them - I had! And couldn’t have a refund.
Utterly disgusting. Just spare yourself the pain and avoid them.
