Reinstating Membership
To renew my membership after I tried to suspend it (only for 2 months!) due to surgery was impossible on the App. The receptionist at my local centre struggled to reinstate me and put me through on a different category just to get me registered. She said I had to upload proof of pensioner age on the App but I told her my App won't let me do this. Also I said if I was a pensioner for the last 5 years I was hardly getting any younger! Note I have been a member for over 30 years.

Should you require a freeze on your membership for medical reasons, we can assist you with this process. This option is available through your online account, or alternatively, our Customer Services team is always available to provide assistance. If you need this service in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us at customerservices@gll.org
Regarding your renewal, we fully understand that seniors should only need to provide proof of age once. It appears that, as the team member set up a new membership, albeit equivalent to your previous one, eligibility proof was requested again. This explains why the eligibility verification was required.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support of Better and hope you continue to enjoy your membership.

Needs major investment
Needs major major investment in all departments the building is falling apart, the gym is using equipment that was new 20years ago, I went over to templemore baths to try it and couldn't believe some of the equipment was digital, shankill needs to either be rebuilt or again some major investment, I think if it was done properly alot more people would use it and start going back

Five star experience!
I booked my child in for swimming lessons at Shankil leisure centre with Emma. My son had a bad experience with an instructor from a different leisure centre and was nervous of the water and also adamant that he was not going to swimming lessons! While on a trip to the shankil swimmers we saw Emma with her class, interacting with all of the children, smiling having fun and we went home and booked his lessons. So far he has had two lessons and already he is more confident, comfortable and most importantly learning! Emma is fantastic, my son has looked forward all week to his next swimming lesson and this has been most definitely a 5 star experience! Thank you! This instructor I hope is a valued member of staff as she is kind, friendly, compassionate, patient and has encouraged my son to feel excited about swimming, I am so very grateful!

1st week of a sen group lesson which my…
1st week of a sen group lesson which my husband described as one particular child having most of the swimming instructors attention. 2nd week the lesson was cancelled with no replacement.

Great people, good venue.
The staff at the Shankill Leisure Centre are so friendly, helpful and kind.
The gym is a bit dated but has all I need.

Swimming lessons
The instructor (Emma) taking the class was very good with my daughter, and had a lot of patience. My daughter really loved it and is excited for the next lesson.
This was my daughter's 1st lesson and we didn't know how it worked or where to go so it would've been good if someone explained the process at the first lesson. Though I understand it's probably hard to keep track of who's new and who's not.
The changing facilities are very run down and could do with an update (they haven't changed since I was a child).
