Nothing but a POS! No customer support! 2 hours on hold hearing, "Your call is very important to use, please remain on the line and the next available representative will assist you shortly!" Then today...same thing for one hour! I will never try and use this useless company again.

Buyer Beware:

At the age of seventy, I’ve owned three different successful businesses and dealt with all kinds of services. I’m taking the time to share this in hopes that someone reads it and chooses another path to get what they want—instead of dealing with people who don’t care or give a damn.

There was a mistake made on the application, and when I asked about it, I was told there was nothing they could do—or wanted to do. I said, “I thought going through you meant I’d have someone helping me determine what I actually want.” She replied that it was up to me to understand their language.

I told her I had so many fingers up in the air—could she guess how many? She couldn’t. So I asked, “Then how do you expect me to guess the right way to do this? That’s why I went through you.”

We’re not talking about a lot of money, and thankfully, I can afford it. But after all my experience, I’m disgusted with companies like this that clearly don’t care about people. I only hope the owner of this company—if there even is one—reads this and wakes up in the middle of the night remembering it.

VitalChek is a ripoff. When you request UPS Next Day Air for an additional $18.00, they don't tell you what the Next Day Air means AFTER 20+ days of processing your order. DO NOT PAY FOR EXPEDITED SHIPPING! My order has been processing for 22 days with no ship date. The website says that the processing time is 18 to 20 days, but they don't mention that anywhere until AFTER YOU ORDER AND PAY. Well, here we are at 22 days of "order processing" and still no update. Also, on top of the expedited shipping fee is a "VitalChek Fee" of $9. Total scammers. It is too bad that Los Angeles will only process vital records through these types of companies. What a waste for the consumer.

If you enjoy waiting on hold forever only to give up and hang up after 30 minutes, (over and over again) this is the company for you. If you love clicking a "Manage My Order" link that never works, just to be told to call a number that never lets you speak to a real human, congratulations — you've found your dream customer service nightmare. Zero accountability, zero help, zero service. Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid this company unless you’re a fan of frustration and being completely ignored.

Turned my docs in 3 weeks ago when I placed my order. Still shows pending on the website so I’ve tried to call 5 times, waited on hold 30 minutes each time (one time I stayed on 90 minutes) and still can’t speak to an agent. Pair $50+ for this crap! I tried emailing them and get the same thing: NOTHING! I can’t believe these guys are the authorized agent for the gov’t. They’re terrible and there’s no recourse.

Who has had this experience with Vitalchek, I ordered my live birth certificate in November 2024. They told me it would arrive at my mailing address on January 3rd and it never arrived, I totally forgot about it until March 2025. When I called them , I was put on hold for an hour, and when they answered, told me my live birth certificate was just sent to the State I was originally born half way across the country. I asked why? She replied, I don’t know. But that she will look into it and call me back in 2-3 days. 2 more weeks go by and I’m calling again, and now I’ve been on hold for 2.5 hours and I called at 7:59am a minute before they open, hoping to be one of the first callers, oh and i had to edit this just now because after sitting on the phone for almost THREE HOURS, it started ringing and someone picked up, AND THEN HUNG UP THE PHONE!!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Anyone else have this issue??

Don't answer the phone. As others have said. I uploaded my documents. This wasn't good enough for some reason and now I can't log in for some reason, and they don't answer the phone.

I wish I'd read these reviews before I tried to use the website. I kept sending more information for over 2 months hoping that they'd finally process it and give me my birth certificate. Finally I realized I could just make a physical appointment at the govt office (and wait 2 hours). I'd tried to avoid that by using this online service, but it's a total piece of crap website with 0 customer service and 0 explanation as to why they refused to complete my order. They just steal 9$ from people? That's the whole scam? Pathetic. I'm shocked that the NYC website touts the site as the only official birth certificate place in large letters firs thing on their page. Save your time and your money. Do not use this Vitalcheck.

While attempting to order my mother's birth and death certificates from Louisiana, I was asked to verify my identity using information that was not associated with me. In both cases, I was then instructed that Vitalchek required further information to verify my identity. I uploaded the requested documents via desktop computer and received confirmation that the document had been received. I immediately received another email request that the documentation be uploaded; upon realizing that the documents were already appearing in my account, I attempted to call "customer service." I stayed on hold for a while with no answer, only to discover through a Google search that the customer service hours are Monday through Friday. Nowhere on the Vitalchek website are the hours of operation listed, nor does the automated system inform callers that they are closed. The redundancy and lack of communication, coupled with the verification process that uses information not associated with the customer, is unprofessional, inconsiderate, and just poor business practice. Given any other avenue for receiving these documents, I would choose it one thousand times over, even if it cost more (Vitalchek isn't what I consider inexpensive, either). I do not recommend this service in any way.

I filled out the information then I had a the required document notorized and uploaded. It said it was going to take 48 hours for review, after 4 days I messaged them, and no reply. I messaged them several more times over the next week and a half, and no reply. It still said pending. So, I went and got a birth certificate myself at the office. I was able to delete my notorized document from the vital check site, but not my account or info. After two weeks, I was automatically charge $10.95. Customer service has not replied to any of my messages yet.

Total scam operation. No customer service. Terrible experience. Still waiting for my order 8 weeks later.

Terrible customer service - completely unresponsive and useless if your order doesn't arrive.

VitalCheck is another example of failed privatization of government services. I have submitted required documents for a birth certificate which has been delayed with no response. If private industry delivery customer service that is worse at a higher cost, why would we privatize government services?

Just as others have stated- they don’t answer their phone and emailing customer service gets you no where either. I just keep getting emails saying I need to upload documentation which I did immediately (a month ago). Reported the charge to my credit card to hopefully get refunded.

Hours on the phone waiting for customer service that never happened. What a rip off!!!!

Paid to get a birth certificate copy. I notarized and faxed in the required form, then was told the order was CANCELLED. No explanation why. No opportunity to redress. No customer service. Avoid at all costs.

Wow! WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. Two weeks, an hour on hold, $50 charge, and NOTHING! VitalChek tries to get between you and the state office you're trying to reach, then charge you for it! Keep searching, go DIRECTLY to the state office. It will be FAR CHEAPER AND FASTER than wasting your time with VitalChek.

Worst service ever. I've submitted everything to them they needed weeks ago. I have emailed and called several times and no answer from this company. I was on hold for a hour and they never answered. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced and it's for something so important as a birth certificate.

25 days later and im still waiting for them to approve it. I don't see how I can vote or use my ID or ssn but these guys can't send me only doc. I bet they want more money. Scam!!!!
