Portugal is very interesting and charming! The experience of touring the country becomes even better when you have a friendly local guide who is passionate about his country's nature, land, and history.
We were really happy to meet Fernando Almeida who took us to wonderful places and told us about them. We actually did two different days and two different tours with him. Both were really good! One of them included a little mountain schist village, a place off the beaten path, which we really enjoyed.
Fernando is not only a tour guide and a driver, he is also a friend and companion. We really enjoyed our personal and more intimate time with him during the lunches.
Fernando is super accomodating, helpful, attentive, and simply fun to be around. He would listen to your needs and try to do his best to make you feel welcomed to his wonderful country.

Porto is beautiful but the experience of seeing it with a delightful and knowledgeable guide makes it so much better. Fernando is simply amazing. From our initial pickup he became a friend. And the time that my husband and I spent with him was wonderful. Our tour was to Douro Valley. This included many stops for amazing views, culture and history. Our tour included wine tasting, lunch with amazing views and stops along the way. Please give Fernando a call. His tours are set but not set. He will help you decide what to do and see. We had know idea, but I trusted him and I am so very happy that I did. We were not rushed at any point!

Our group of six enjoyed a wonderful day touring the Douro Valley with our passionate guide Fernando. We were picked up at our hotel in Porto, and made a brief coffee stop and visit to a beautiful little convent in Amarante before making our way to the valley. Our first stop was a winery in the hills above Pinhao. The views were spectacular and we took in a museum tour, wine tasting, and olive oil tasting. We then drove to the village of Pinhao to visit the small train station to view the beautiful tile work on the bldg. and then to the dock for our brief water cruise. We were picked up by a Quinta do Ventozelo staff member who then drove us through the vineyards for our lunch in the Cantina on the farm. We enjoyed wine pairing with our lunch, sitting on the outdoor patio overlooking the vineyards, and the Douro, what could get any better than that. We then took a scenic drive to a small family operated winery and olive grove and we were treated to yet another wine and olive oil tasting experience. Just when we thought we had seen all the beautiful scenery, Fernando took us to a scenic outlook, high in the hills, overlooking the entire valley and Douro river. It was awesome day. Fernando is very passionate about the area and he knows the roads well. Thank you Fernando!

Fernando is amazing. He has such love and passion for his beautiful country. Our tour to the Duoro Valley with Fernando not only showed us the gorgeous scenery and allowed us to sample amazing wines, but we also learned so much about Portuguese history from him. He took us to a small family owned vineyard with delicious wines and spectacular service, then to a lunch and more wine sampling at a beautiful estate. From there we went to a beautiful quaint village called Pinhão, and then to a large commercial winery with spectacular views and delicious wine. Lastly we went to a gorgeous winery and hotel that was breathtaking. All along the way to the different points Fernando stopped so we could see the amazing scenery and views.
