My experience at the mighty roar
My experience at the mighty roar has been amazing, the staff are so accommodating. There are so many fun trips to go on and constantly things to do. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

I have had the best 2 weeks…
I have had the best 2 weeks volunteering in childcare in Tanzania. The staff working at the comfy stay hotel and friendly and approachable always wanting to help you where they can. The accommodation is okay with people to clean your room when you ask. The food is tasty just slightly repetitive.
At childcare the class teachers are welcoming and the children are beautiful! They do the best with the resources they have but are always open to have things bought for them or suggestions made to improve the classrooom.
Moshi itself is a very safe city and there's drivers who will take you wherever you want to go.
Will definitely be returning to Tanzania to volunteer again!

I had a great expirence at The Mighty…
I had a great expirence at The Mighty Roar and will remember the memories I made on this experience forever. I undertook a medical placement for my midwifery university course , observing births, ceserean sections and maternity ward rounds . Whilst I was on my two week stay with the mighty roar, I also went on safari which was well organised with drivers , correct timings and allowed us all to have a great experience seeing different animals. I felt well looked after with the mighty roar, with cooked dishes for both lunch and dinner and cleaning services. I hope to travel again with the mighty roar.

Bali childcare program
Everything to do with volunteering in Bali was amazing, an experience I’ll never forget and recommend to anyone who asks. The accommodation is so good and only a short walk along the beach to the school. The childcare program is was so much fun getting involved in the local school. Only thing is the location is in north Bali which is a bit more remote from the main tourist places of Bali, but there’s plenty of time to travel at the weekends to see all the places so it was nice to have a bit of both.and the staff at the accommodation are so helpful and will happily book any transport you need

Unforgettable experience!
I did the 2 weeks marine conservation in Greece, I had a wonderful experience with my fellow volunteers and Orlaith, Claire, Lucie and Harry were always there for us for anything. I'd highly recommend this trip as it was not only educational, but a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and spend time exploring the island.

Sri Lanka childcare
I really enjoyed my time volunteering with the Mighty Roar on the childcare programme. The children at both kindergartens spend a lot of time learning English and the alphabet which the volunteers are able to assist with. Chamo, who runs the childcare and teaching programmes is especially helpful and always around to assist both with the programme and any other queries I had.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and optional Fridays volunteers spend at the on site kindergarden volunteering 8:30-11:30, Wednesdays are spent at the other kindergarden with approximately 100 children.
I also did a weekend trip where Mammu made the weekend trip very enjoyable, and I would recommend doing a trip whilst you are in Sri Lanka! However I think the weekend trip itinerary should be updated as the zip wire was was an extra cost that I wasn’t expecting.
Overall, thank you the Mighty Roar Sri Lanka, and especially Chamo for a great experience!

Sea turtle conservation in Sri Lanka
I did the sea turtle conservation in Sri Lanka which was a wonderful experience which I would highly recommend to everyone. The TMR staff were so kind and welcoming and it felt so good to be doing something to contribute for this beautiful place and all of the amazing people and creatures living here. I will miss it and definitely want to come back and try different volunteering projects.

Bucket List Experience
An amazing experience that’s been on my bucket list before I was old enough to take part as a volunteer. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. The scenery is breathtaking and the sunsets only add to the beauty of the surroundings. The staff were really friendly and I learned a lot!

I volunteered at Nakavango Conservation…
I volunteered at Nakavango Conservation project in Zimbabwe, through the Mighty Roar (Zimbabwe big 5 conversation). The experience was amazing, the staff running the project were so nice and welcoming and made every day special while the private reserve your working at is a beautiful area which can hold surprises of almost every species that lives in that general area of Africa so each day your finding something new. The work that you do as a volunteer feels like your contributing to the project and actually giving back to the reserve which is always a great feeling. The accommodation and food is also really good and at such a high standard for a volunteer project.

Physiotherapy in Tanzania
Spent 2 weeks with TMR and had the most amazing time! I had spent my time in the physiotherapy department which was simply the best. We met the nicest people along the way and were looked after royally! Cannot recommend this experience enough!

I spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka doing the childcare programme, but also helped with the teaching ones, and had a wonderful time.
The programme was well structured, and we had lots of free time for travelling or socialising or relaxing. I gained a lot from my experience.
The team there were lovely and helpful. They made us feel very welcome and were so kind and generous.
The accomodation was beautiful, with rooms being very clean.

I went to Kenya with my friend for 2 weeks. We did one week on the medical programme and one week on the childcare programme. It was an unbelievable experience, in the hospital all the staff were so welcoming and informative and we got to witness things we would never get the chance to see as medical students at home. The childcare programme was also such an eye opening and special experience. Everyone in the programme was so friendly and welcoming and made our trip so memorable! I would highly recommended anyone thinking of doing it, even as a solo traveler as we met so many other volunteers from all over the world staying together in our host family.

Teaching in Sri Lanka
I spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka on the teaching programme and had an amazing experience. The local team were incredibly helpful, particularly Chamo and Chathu, at all hours of the day. The teaching programme was great and we got full freedom to plan lessons and teach them in the way we wanted to. The accommodation was clean and the team were happy to help if any issues did arise. The weekend trips were very well organised and the team organised other activities during the week, like football matches with a local players, kayaking and surfing. I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend volunteering in Sri Lanka with TMR.

I spent 3 weeks with TMR Sri Lanka this…
I spent 3 weeks with TMR Sri Lanka this summer on the teaching programme.
This was one of the most wonderful and rewarding experiences!
The TMR base is brilliantly situated close to Hikkaduwa so it’s easy for excursions to the shops, pool, bars and restaurants - I would highly recommend Sunny Side Up for brunch and Amaroo in the evening!
The Sri Lanka team were nothing but accommodating and welcoming. The rooms are clean and there is always someone on hand to come fix a problem when asked for.
Unfortunately a break in was experienced while I was there. This is a highly unusual event and at no time prior to this had I felt unsafe. The local team have stepped up their security since, ensuring all the doors have locks and that access to the main buildings are secure. So while the response from the UK team on this matter was a bit dismissive, the local team were wonderful!
Make sure to take advantage of the weekend trips as well as the activities (such as surfing and the football matches) offered by TMR on a weekly basis!
A big thankyou to Chamo who gave us the perfect amount of guidance and freedom with the teaching programme and was a ray of sunshine around the base!

I recently completed 5 weeks as a teaching volunteer with The Mighty Roar in Sri Lanka. It was the experience of a lifetime! Lessons are very well structured whilst still allowing you to have the creative freedom in the lesson plan. The kids are all very eager to learn! Aside from the program, the accommodation was always clean and comfortable, the food was great, and the people there - staff and other volunteers - made these few weeks truly unforgettable.
