Avoid them, avoid BackMarket!!
Bought a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro via BackMarket. Paid roughly £200 more than I would on eBay, but I'm an IT tech, so I just want to be able to buy something affordable and have it work, as I spend all day fixing laptops.
My bad it seems!
Got the device and it had gummy keys and a dodgy backlight. At first, I thought that was real sloppy. Both, Tec It Out AND BackMarket had a look at this and thought it was okay to sell? Quite frankly, not good enough, but that's why there a warranty right?
Sent it back under warranty after a little forwards and backwards with a BackMarket rep, got it back, they only fixed the gummy keys and ignored the backlight issue. If anything, the backlight issue is now worse.
Best part? I put a note in the laptop detailing all of my issues.
Got a return via BackMarket, as it's been under 2 weeks since I've had the thing, and in those 2 weeks, I got to use it once.
Avoid these guys, avoid BackMarket, get it cheaper on eBay or CeX.
As an IT guy, I am appalled at not only the service I received, but the quality of Tec It Out's work. People like Tec It Out are the reason why you can't go into just any old phone or laptop repair shop and get something fixed, because you can't always trust people. Tec It Out are a disgrace to the industry, and push people towards buying new, disposable rubbish.
I could bet £50 that Tec It Out will say something like "Upon our inspection, the backlight seemed fully functional", in which case, get yourselves to your local SpecSavers, because the backlight was horrendously dim on all keys, even at max brightness, except a couple of keys where it was brighter than the screen. It doesn't show very well on camera, but even without my glasses on I can see the issue easily, even in daylight.
Please ignore whatever nonsense response Tec It Out gives, if any at all. They want to just protect their comapny image. If they truly cared that much, I wouldn't've gotten a dodgy laptop to begin with. "Mistakes happen", no they don't its just carelessness or poor QC measures.
I hope this review has stopped at least 1 person from buying from these people.
Post reply edit: I didn't cause the liquid damage! It came like that! Could've'nt had a top case replacement, keyboard was clearly the same, and it had the exact same minor cosmetic dinks. Also, what do you mean "goodwill" repair? You sent me a faulty product, that faulty product had a warranty, I claimed on thay warranty. There no "goodwill" involved in that, just you providing a service that I paid for (remember that I overpaid compared to market value for one of these devices) which you failed to do, hence why I went ahead with a refund. I literally said that they'd have some half baked reply in which they don't acknowledge the error of their ways, and just lie to try to dump the blame on me whilst bolstering their company image.

Is this who want to give several hundred, maybe even a couple of thousand pounds out of your hard earned money? Just take a step back and think for a moment.
Someone has had issues because their poor procedures, and they're now blaming that person whilst claiming that them upholding their side of a contractual agreement is "goodwill". Seriously, save yourself money and hassle, and buy on eBay or CeX or off your mate Craig. Just anyone but these guys!

We take our technical standards and customer care very seriously. We would like to present the verified facts relating to this order.
Certified pre-dispatch testing:
Before the MacBook was initially dispatched, it underwent full diagnostic testing and received a certified test-pass report. This confirmed that the display, keyboard and keyboard backlight were all fully operational.
Inspection and liquid damage:
When the laptop was first returned following reports of keyboard issues, our technicians opened the device and found fresh, visible liquid ingress across the internal keyboard assembly - causing the backlight issue.
Free goodwill repair:
Liquid damage normally voids standard warranty coverage across the industry. However, as a gesture of goodwill, we covered the cost ourselves and carried out a full top-case replacement at no charge to the customer.
The repair and keyboard backlight:
A top-case replacement includes the outer casing, keyboard and integrated keyboard backlight assembly as one complete unit. The backlight issue was therefore not ignored; the entire assembly was replaced with new hardware and fully tested before the laptop was dispatched again.
Full refund issued:
When the customer remained unhappy after receiving the repaired laptop, it was returned for a second time and a full refund was issued.
Despite the liquid damage falling outside standard warranty terms, we paid for a major hardware repair and ultimately provided a complete refund.

I found the website easy to navigate
I found the website easy to navigate. I ordered a MacBook Air. It was in the Good quality bracket. Infact, it seems perfect. The order arrived the next day and it was easy to get going in it. My only reservation is that the courrier left my computer on my front doorstep in clear view of the road and only 1 meter from the path. Luckily I had only popped to the post box so all was fine.

Great little purchase

Ordered a Macbook Air M3, Listed as an “Ugly laptop” due to old sticker marks was genuinely massively surprised when the laptop came the sticker marks were barely even visible, The laptop looks in near perfect condition at least to me, Charger and plug seem high quality and work well. You guys lose a star for one really petty reason 🤣 ironically the sticker with the QR code to leave this feedback left more of a mark than the marks it came with. But in fairness delivery was quick product is brilliant!

We're sorry the QR code sticker left a slight mark. We use easy-peel stickers on the palm rest for this reason, but occasionally they can leave a faint residue. A quick wipe with a cloth should remove it completely.
