Money for old rope...
Your renewal email very much focused on making renewal very easy, but should you choose not to renew, as per most insurance companies there are a series of hurdles.
I never choose to auto-renew, so presumably turning it off wasn't an option when taking it out initially. On the renewal email, there's a huge green button 'click to renew now'... where's the huge red button 'click to NOT renew'? Instead the email tells the customer to go to 'My Account' - not a link, just a comment - thanks!
Then when you get to the website, the cookie banner (which has to be shown by law) does indeed shiw but then disappears in a couple of seconds before you can choose whether to have cookies or not (tested on a couple of browsers - definitely not in the spirit of the law) - think I might have to complain to the ICO about that. Where's the 'My Account'? Nowhere to be seen on the homepage... is it in the drop-down menu - no, of course not - you have to go to the help centre to find the log in. Where I was eventually able to turn off auto-renew and cancel the policy.
One click to renew, guesswork and multiple clicks to cancel the renewal - showing your true colours. Enjoy the review!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re sorry the process of cancelling your policy was more frustrating than it should have been.
When a policy is taken out, it’s set to auto-renew by default so that our customers aren’t accidentally left without cover. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time during the life of your policy through ‘My Account’. On a desktop, you’ll find it at the top right of our homepage, next to the Help Centre button.
We understand ‘My Account’ wasn’t as easy to find as it could have been, and we’re acting on your suggestion. Our team are adding a clickable link to ‘My Account’ in all our renewal emails, so customers can log in securely and turn off auto-renewal or cancel the auto renewal of their policy in just a few clicks.
Our cookie banner is designed to stay on screen until you choose one of the options. Very occasionally it may disappear briefly if you click outside it, but it should reappear shortly afterwards. We’re sorry it didn’t work as expected for you, and we’ve asked our web team to look into it.
We’ll keep taking customer feedback like yours into account as we work to make our website and communications easier to use. Making it simple to choose not to renew matters to us just as much as making it simple to renew.
