Superb service from Daniel Cosby and Dan Hunt. Experienced individuals who have left me in no doubt where I will be leaving my BMW M3 CSL from this point onwards.
Updated with progress on service and a real old school attitude when dealing with customers.
It’s hard to find a trustworthy garage that deals with old BMWs (let alone the M division) and its been nothing but pleasurable dealing with them including Elliot Soler.

Took my car to Stephen James to have my alloys refurbished. When I received the car back the steering wheel was shaking and I contacted the garage and took my car back in for investigation. They told me that all my alloys and tyres are buckling and need replacing quoting me thousands of pounds. I then took my car for a second opinion to a professional tyre place and they told me all my wheels have not been balanced, they then balanced the wheels and the problem stopped they solved the problem with just a few pounds. Stephen James alloy team did not balance the wheels after they put them back on the car which is something they must do and on top of that wanted thousands of pounds to fix the problem they created. Very un professional bordering on criminal.
Excellent service
They repaired my right rear door which was unfortunately been damaged by a 3rd party. They carried out a nice work and it is like a brand new car when the car got returned. Many thanks
Shambles
The servicing depatment and in particular Timothy Kwan and an absolute shambles. I paid for a service plan and was not given a receipt for the initial £663.99 paid. I called Tim and he basically washed his hands with everything and passed me over to there support centre, which when you call is closed!! I would suggest using another BMW service centre if possible.

On the 7th of December I had a car…
On the 7th of December I had a car service, I paid £ 410 for the service and to my surprise they didn't change my oil. Very bad quality service and no respect for customer.

I have visited this dealership a few times now, but today the treatment I received from Dave in after sales was disgusting. He was very arrogant and condescending, on top of that implied I was lying even though my wife was there and she heard the same thing I did. When I questioned this, the manager completely sided with Dave even though he stood right there and was listening to everything. All the while the entire BMW team just stood around me as if they were boxing in their prey, this was very intimidating to say the least. This is NOT what you’d expect from a MAIN DEALER, one of the worst after sales service, after my work here is complete I won’t be returning to BMW again. I think I’ll stick to my local garage and tell all my family and friends to do the same.

Absolutely horrific experience at the WOOLWICH STEPHEN JAMES BMW branch, thanks to Dave in after sales. Went in with my car for a service, the customer service that my husband and I had received from Dave and his manager was ridiculous.
They were very rude and we were spoken to in a very condescending manner. When we mentioned this they used sarcasm to brush it aside. We were told one thing and they did not stick to their words and when we questioned them about this we were dealt with very rudely. I’m not sure the reason for this I felt that there was some discrimination towards my husband and I.
Regrettably we will need to revisit this branch again. However in future I would never come back and I would not recommend this branch to anyone. BMW customer relations please reconsider the kind of staff that you recruit and ensure that all your customers are treated fairly and I hope that no one else has to go through what me and my husband went through today.
My husband and I are proud BMW owners and drivers and unfortunately an experience like this has put us off the BMW franchise as a whole.
I hope someone can rectify this before you lose more loyal customers.
Pointless Conversation with vStephen James BMW
I visited Stephen James BMW last week as I am currently looking for an approved 4 Series Coupe in black and left my contact details and my requirements.
Over the last few days I had been chasing SJ for them to provide a relevant contact for which I finally got a call.
During this conversation on 12th Dec 2020, I realised they were very unhelpful and couldn't match my requirements
They just totally discouraged me that one would become available but I told them I was happy to wait month or two but the conversation was becoming absolutely pointless!!
I gave the same requirements to BMW Chigwell and they were very forward thinking, and said they could match my requirements.
Speaking to SJ was an absolute waste of time, and you felt under valued.

Bromley, Best BMW dealer experience I have ever had and i have been to a few in and around Kent...Repair took longer than anticipated, they had the car overnight and sorted me a loan car....will be using again...every staff member i delt with was superb...well done all.
Impressed with Stephen James Woolwich
I am surprised to read the critical reviews re Stephen James' Woolwich branch. I've been having all my BMW issues resolved by Stephen James Bromley for years but this was my first time at Woolwich as I needed some smart repairs as well as an EGR replacement. Danny in the workshop performed an exceptional job on the smart repairs and Jack Groves in Services was phenomenal. Genuine mechanical knowledge, clear pride in his job and fantastic customer service with regular phone calls by way of updates. I was seriously impressed as my experience with Jack was the best customer service I have ever experienced at Stephen James - and my overall impression of Stephen James has been very, very good.

I don’t know how these utter cowboys at Stephen James (Woolwich) are still trading. Good customer service doesn’t cost a penny but somehow it’s too much of a mountain to climb for Stephen. I’ve had too many bad experiences with them. The latest being a thoroughly rude service assistant who hasn’t a clue how to interact with customers and got very defensive when I expressed my unhappiness with his behaviour. Car went for brake fluid change and came back with the driver’s seat and steering covered in plastic wrapping, presumably due to covid, which they didn’t bother to remove.
They serviced my car last year and tried to charge me more than the quoted price from BMW connect. After pointing out the discrepancy to the woman at the service desk, she eventually climbed down. After the service, they called me to inform me the car was ready for collection only to keep me waiting for an hour whilst the car was apparently getting washed. When they brought the keys over, it was nearly handed over to another customer until I intervened. I went outside to drive off only to realise the car hadn’t been washed. They don’t value their customers and the whole place stinks of unprofessionalism. One of my friends had a similar bad experience and it seems like a common theme there. Organisational values are set from the top and the hierarchy needs to think long and hard about the people they employ and the behaviours they display. I certainly wouldn’t be taking my car there ever again. I would a urge you to seriously reconsider using them because there are more competent dealerships out there who will give you value for money.

I have visited this branch on several occasions . My visit on 6th November, 2020, Friday was particularly disappointing. I booked my car for diagnostics for an engine sign and to fix my driver side mirror problem. I knew that BMW has recalled several models including mine for EGR valve fault, during booking I had conversation with the staff and he stated if it is EGR fault I will not need to pay. The diagnostics found the EGR valve was sticking out and I was quoted £289.00. When. I quoted my previous conversation I was told that the they do free replacement only if the EGR valve is leaking. I argued either way it is a defect/fault with EGR vavle . However they would not listen. It is not about just £289.00, it is about the principle. Stephen James should be able to see that I have spent thousands of pound for services with them.
Secondly , When I was called to brief the fault with the mirror I was not told that they took my mirror off. After five miles journey I went to collect car and once in the road I realised that my driver side mirror was missing. I returned to their office and expressed my disappointment. However the gentleman who served me stated that the mirror was wobbly ,hence they took it off. I stated is not it dangerous and illegal to drive a car without mirror. How come I was not warned that I will have missing mirror when I took the car with wobbly mirror but was ok to drive. The gentleman kept on going and going without any apology. His argument was that it not his fault. I requested can they fix the car mirror with the quote ( £160) money . He refused to do this on the same day but agreed to do on the next day. Later on the evening I got a call from another staff with apology. Due to that particular staff I had to make an unnecessary Journey during this peak COVID lock down period.

I had some issues which needed repairs, some under warranty. Sudiya (Bromley) was a great help from start to finish - happy to help, professional and a credit to the brand !

Once again fantastic customer service, Michael was polite and courteous and went through the whole process of my car repair with great professionalism.

Expected to book car in for potentially two days to get an indicator looked at,and possibly replaced, would not accept a Prior look at the car to Confirm and make sure part was available For the booking. Will not be using them again.

I was really pleased with the service I was given by Rebecca read. I totally was fed up with BMW and the lack of service that I nearly resulted to kwik fit but Rebecca restored my faith in the company and managed to sort the issue and I'm very pleased. She prevented depression at its finest lol cause BMW made me feel sad. Rebecca knew her stuff and was very pleasant and apologetic on the behalf of BMW and I totally give her up most respect cause if it wasn't for her I wouldn't of used their service again and was planning to change my car to Mercedes lol. Not what you expect from BMW center- poor
I had a warning light come up on my BMW, happened to be passing Stephen James in Sidcup at the time. This is not my normal BMW center I take my car to but thought I give it go as I was in the area wish I hadn't and carried on driving. Walked in no greeting, the receptionist didn’t even bother to look up. It was well signposted so could see where the service center lucky. Was greeted by women who said sanitize the key and come over to one of her colleagues will take care of it and she seemed to be professional. But then I was handed to her colleague who was completely a waste of space could not be more unhelpful said no pint reading your key because it only tells me the mileage and service intervals won’t say what the warning is, so not sure what the point of sanitizing my car was for. He asked if I want to book it in, No chance I will stick with coppers or park lane BMW where I normally take it. Would not waste my time on this dealership again.

Excellent dealership
We are long term clients of Stephen James BMW in Enfield. The service manager Brian McManus is excellent . He always gives us exemplary service and is totally professional. The PPE at the dealership is also top notch. One queues outside and then with a mask fitted enters a very disciplined dealership and sanitiser is placed on a table with paper towels to enable the clients to sanitise the car key before giving it to a member of staff. The whole area was highly regulated and very impressive.
