Service is Shut Down - A Great Service Gone!

I started Jan 2024. They started upgrading around July/Aug 2024 and as of 1/30/2025, they're still down.

When it's in business, It's totally worth it but not at the moment and to be honest it's a bit frustrating because they've been unavailable and useless for the past 6 months due to an apparent "upgrade" to their rewards and payment program, basically the entire point of their service. So after 7 months of having incredible service and outcome with them, they effectively shut down with no timeframe on returning set. They said we're upgrading our banking partners and will be gone for a short while, giving the impression out would be maybe a month at the most. No info or inkling this would be a long term issue as it's turned out to be. There was no notice that this upgrade would basically end service because I would have gone somewhere else already because I've just been waiting like a dummy. I need my credit repaired and sitting around this long waiting for their program upgrade with no contact from them about a status makes me the idiot. Plus their app has been removed from the play store so as of right now this is a failure and such a terrible loss.

It will hurt your credit score

After paying a premium subscription for over a year, they said that they were issuing better cards but that never happened. Since August and now mid November, they claim to not be taking new customers and yet people are still signing up, this is a scam that will seriously damage your credit score

During this pause, existing accounts remain active, and we continue reporting account activity to Experian on a monthly basis, fulfilling our obligation to support our members' credit-building efforts. While new members can sign up, they cannot fully utilize the service at this time. Rest assured, we will notify them as soon as our services resume.

I was trying to sign up for membership…

I was trying to sign up for membership and was told could not be verified. Had the option to do manual verification which I did and was still denied because I am in the U.S Virgin Island which is part of the United States. That is crazy to me but that was after the hold was placed on my credit card. How ironic, your company has no problem requesting for a hold charge but won't accept my membership. Sucks that they lose a potential customer because of limitations.
In response to your comment I am not in any receipt of any card nor membership as of current.

Excellent for Credit Building/Repair

Rebuilding credit is not always a slow and painful process. No matter what the circumstance, with patience and on time payments things will get better! StellarFi continues being instrumental in rebuilding my credit. There is never a case of overdraft or funds being charged if your balance does not have enough to cover the payment. They exhibit effective communication, empathy and patience. I've had many issues arise, questions answered and things explained when using both the $4.99 and $9.99 plans. Very timely responses and they are here to ensure you are on the right path. Excellent experience and I will continue to use them because why not? You're paying bills anyway, why not let that contribute to boosting your credit score?! I highly recommend StellarFi!

$0.99 per month balloons into a 400% APR loan after 30 days

I signed up for stellarfi and configured it to pay a single bill for around $30 monthly. I recently discovered that I was automatically placed into the prime tier of service + charged $10 every month for the 5 months since I signed up. The Prime tier service offers no benefit for my usage of approximately $30 in monthly bill payments ... In fact, it's only useful to individuals that are paying more than $500 in monthly bills using stellarfi. This automatic enrollment into a higher-cost tier without clear disclosure represents a deceptive practice, especially considering stellarfi targets an audience of financially vulnerable individuals.

The effective interest rate on this $30 loan, repaid in full each month, amounts to an APR of approximately 400% - a rate that would be considered predatory by most standards.

I understand that StellarFi is registered as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). This makes their practices even more concerning, as PBCs are expected to balance profit with a public benefit. Stellarfi's current practices seem to contradict the spirit and purpose of a PBC, especially one purporting to help financially vulnerable individuals.

I requested a refund of the difference between the $10 monthly fee I've been charged and the $5 fee for the appropriate tier for my usage. This amounts to approximately $25 for the past five months.

The company refused my request with the explanation that the $0.99 introductory fee and subsequent $10 per month fee structure represented user fees and the user agreement posted on their website says that user fees are not refundable.

However, we understand that this may not have been the best fit for your usage of approximately $30 in monthly bill payments.

Regarding your account, we have been consistently reporting it as "Current" for the past five months, which positively impacts your credit report. While our user agreement states that user fees are non-refundable, we understand your frustration and are always looking for ways to improve our customer experience.

I would give this company 5 stars.. but they only report to Experian as of right now. I have a credit limit with StellarFi for over 21,300. It’s helped my Experian score big time and helped me get approved for a high limit personal cc. Hopefully they resolve the issue with TransUnion and Equifax.

StellarFI - Mixed Results with not real time information

StellarFi is not a scam. When it works, it works. When it doesn't work, it's a collosal frustrating, time sucking failure.

I selected this service as a part of buidling my thin credit profile back up. At first it worked beautifully. In less than 30 days I went from literally a FICO of 4 up to the 600's. However, from time to time, I had issues with what StellarFi sees in in my bank account.

StellarFi's information is not REAL TIME. It uses a system called MX to connect with your bank to see what is in your account. You might notice that your bank is now allowing you to see what is in your other accounts. It does this thorugh the same MX system.

I only use one account for all my reoccurring payments. I transfer that money into this account once a month. Over time I discovered that the information that StellarFi had on my bank account balance was not real time, but delayed time.

Then late last week, the account where my reoccurring payments are being made from does not connect via the MX system to StellarFi. Non of my banks that use this service are able to connect to this bank account using the MX system as well. As a result, I had to move the money for my reoccurring payments to another bank. This bank connected to StellarFi via the MX system but it reported a balance of 36.25 (over a week ago) when there was more than $400 in the account. This afternoon the same $36.25 is still being reported even though there's more than $193 available balance in this account, and the last system sync with the MX system was 2 hours ago.

I have tried to work with StellarFi's chat system for assistance. Not getting much help there, although the individual on the other end did try to assist.

In the meantime I have had to again move my money, or outright move back to the debit card for the account that I'm paying through. This not only defeats the purpose of using StellarFi; it also has become a time sucking, frustrating experiance for which there is no human face or voice to connect to since the issue, I believe, most likely lies not with StellarFi or either of my banks, but the MX system itself.

As far as I can figure this faceless, nameless, phone numberless system that the banks and StellarFi are using have an issue and without a face, name, voice or phone number, I don't know how to get it resolved.

So my vote at this moment in time is that my results are mixed and if you're getting less than satisfactory results, perhaps try a different strategy to build your credit score. Personally, I'm reevaluating my strategy and going back to the drawing board.

ONLY REPORTING TO EXPERIAN NOW…

I would give 5 stars but because of a update that's been working on for 5 months now not reporting my new credit limit to equifax is why I only gave 4 stars.Its only reporting to experian now 😔 plus not transunion is disappointing as well but I hope they fix this issue soon and I will give them 5 stars

Missing vendors

it seems to be a decent company/ app to help restore & build your credit score while building credit history...

I'm not sure if its just my account that is having this issue or if its everyone else...i was slowly adding my bills one @ a time...I was curious how it worked...they used to have TONS of vendors in their database, but now I can't find the ones I was wanting to link...I emailed them & I was given a generic response of they got rid of a bunch of vendors...I find it strange they did b/c my friend who set me up with them has all the vendors avaliable to him when he searches for them...

that's probably my only gripe...it feels like they've blocked me from certain vendors...
