Not a good resource. If questions aren't formatted perfectly expect to be barred from posting in the future.

I am a researcher and I was looking for a correct portal to post questions about the ML and AI. I have been directed by several portals to stack.overflow. I have posted my questions there multiple times, each time trying to improve and follow what the moderators say. The main complaint was that they wanted a minimal code. I made it! But a minimal code is not that minimal in ML... Eventually my last modification of the question has been taken down with no explanation! I got upset and posted the statement that the reason there no ML questions on stack.overflow, even though they seem to fit, is that the moderators ban them with no concrete explanations and action points. I was banned as the result. For more than a year I cannot use this service. They don't seem to have moderators with correct field of expertise and the users are to pay for it, for one. Secondly, this environment is extremely aggressive for beginners. Essentially, it means if you are not at least a grad student in computer science you will be banned. There are so many other professions that use coding, but may not be quite on the level they want... This is not a community service any more. This is an aggressive clique!

First time in my life! I am not a conflicting person by nature, but I could not get along with their culture. I am a member of stack.exchange in physics, math and Mathematica, GitHub portals... No-one else seem to hate me that much X))))

This is the dumbest cater service I've come across.He closes and deletes questions for stupid reasons. I want to know which protoform to choose and how to install it, but he asks for a specific question, what the hell is that specific question?

And just do it 4 times I tried to ask different questions, but it doesn’t work. What the hell is your service? Are you a bank or what? Yes, I don’t care if there is such a question or not, if I ask a question, then the answers came up to me!

worst website ever. all they do is downvote your questions and then you're banned from asking more questions. they don't bother reading the description but want the entire post in the title. you get no feedback and no decent answers. it's better to pay 200 dollars to get some indian assignment help company helping you rather than deal with the stackoverflow arrogant wannabe mark zuckerberg people. I hope they go bankrupt and that everything they ever do fails

Like most software developers, I use Stack Overflow almost every working day. I benefit from the site all the time. Yes, newcomers might find the site intimidating and some might find that their questions are unanswered or even downvoted. This is because Stack Overflow is powered by its users and the site users can choose to answer or ignore questions. Downvoted questions are usually the ones that don't show research effort on the part of the questioner. Stack Overflow is not a place for lazy people to ask questions that can be easily answered by searching on Google.

Some of them are unreasonably arrogant!

There's numerous reviews about the moderators there being unreasonably arrogant. When there's a common factor among reviews like that, there's usually some truth to it. My experience aligns with that. Arrogant enough it made me delete my account.

Users are their 'customers'. Guess coders don't learn in class that being arrogant enough to make customers delete accounts isn't so good for business.

Makes me rather nervous being a C.S. student. Can't help but wonder if when I graduate I'll be surrounded by arrogant jacka$$3$ like them.

I am giving this 3 stars and in the past it would have been 5, but they have resorted, like many other sites, to try to invade your privacy with unnecessary cookies rather than just letting you read a page (unless you log in and post they don't really need to know who you are or anything about you), plus the even worse human verification captures asking you to click on pictures with buses or whatever and sorry I hate those, they just degrade your site.

Other than that, it is a very useful development tool to get answers to questions that can save a lot of developer time.

By the way, I do have an account there with over 20000 reputation.

There's too much authority given to Moderators, As a newbie i might feel like asking questions that i either don't know the words to lookup on Google, or might not have even heard of. Instead of linking to the well-answered Question, for which i'm looking for some help with. They just mark it as off-topic and remove the question entirely. So i'm left off with no option to look-up my questions. This is not a proper platform to learn for newcomers, honestly only post-grads and experts in the industry can use this platform. But, even they might find more information from encyclopedias and other books. This site is only for jobless people to judge newbies and bully people. If they want to change they should allow for people to mark off answers as either harsh behavior or upright bullying.

I agree with the other reviews here, the terms and guidelines are too harsh, instead of offering moderator intervention and forced edits it would be easier to ignore a question, many of the rules and expectations here could be carried out in a better way.

I asked just how to make a verified badge like youtube has one, and it got closed! Also this is the first ever question that I'm putting there! Also it got downvoted for no reason! So people... don't waste your time on that website!

I agree with a lot of the one star reviews as I’ve received a similar experience. I’m new to programming and had posted two questions and both were downvoted and I was told that it wasn’t clear enough which wasn’t true. They did not answer either question. I advise not joining the Stack Overflow community as they treat newcomers very poorly.

Worse mod ever. I am very new and trying to learn linux. Post a question there with the input and the output that I desire. The question got closed with need to be more focus. WTH does that even mean. I gave you input and the desire output. The mob probably works for himself.

90% of problems I have ever encountered while programming had a solution here. Simply amazing. Special thanks to the huge community of great programmers behind!

I don't know why this site gets such a poor score, I think it must be the few that have had a bad experience that are vocal. I have been using Stack Overflow for years and had a fantastic experience. I couldn't get by without it!

Great site for all the info you could need for coding.

A great site that I think most developers use to allow them to do their job. I rarely have to ask questions because there is normally a working answer to my question already.
