⭐ Fresh, Delicious and Highly Recommended
From ordering to enjoying the cakes, the entire experience was excellent.
I ordered cakes for both my cousin and a friend, and they independently provided very positive feedback. The cakes were fresh, moist, and full of flavour, with a lovely homemade quality. It was great to hear such consistent praise from different people.

Birthday Surprise!
We have ordered a cake from Sponge about a year ago and when I was arranging my wife's birthday, I immediately went with them. They had a range of vegan cakes to choose from, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Both my wife and I are vegan and finding cakes is very difficult. I had the cake delivered to the restaurant. The delivery was on time. All the items I bought such as the candles and balloons were safely packaged. The cake was fresh, and securely delivered. Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service. Had to change the date for delivery twice and this was done quickly and efficiently with an email. Had confirmation when the cake was delivered also. Can’t fault the customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately as I’ve not tried the cake I can’t personally comment but I’m told it was delicious. Will definitely be using again.

Would definitely send a cake card again
I sent the card to a young lady who had just done well in some exams. She was delighted with the card and loved the cakes. Her mum said that they tasted as though they had been made in a bakery (as opposed to mass produced).

UPDATE (24th July 2026): Following this review, customer service contacted me. They still refuse to issue a £12.99 refund for what was clearly a system glitch, despite my family being long-term loyal customers. Instead, they offered a replacement or a gift card—neither of which I can use as the school term has ended—but explicitly stated they would only do this if I changed my review to reflect their 'good gesture'. I find it deeply disappointing that a solution is only offered to protect their rating rather than to help a customer.
I’ve bought from this company in the past and my Mum orders from them for special occasions to treat me, as I have coeliac disease and multiple health problems. Life can be very miserable for me at times, and even though I’m able to bake sometimes, I’m disabled and can’t stand for long. It’s always nice to receive cakes that you haven’t had to suffer to bake. My mother in law also bought me some gluten free cakes from them for Mother’s Day this year. Money is incredibly tight at the moment, but I wanted to do something nice for my son’s teacher, so I decided to order her a cake card with 2 cake slices. She also has coeliac disease, so I only perused the gluten free slices and decided on 2 flavours I hoped she’d like. I placed the order and also requested the delivery date when doing so. Well, it turned up a day late, but thankfully just in time. The box it arrived in is sealed, but I decided to open it just to check it was all correct. I was shocked to see that the cake slices didn’t have a gluten free sticker on, so I turned them over to check the ingredients and they both contained wheat flour!! I’m so glad that I checked!!! I found my order email and it didn’t mention anything about gluten free cake slices, which shocked me as I’d only looked at the gluten free ones. I was fully focused when I was ordering this as well. I 100% remember ordering 2 gluten free slices, so clearly something has gone wrong with their system. I emailed them and explained everything. I got a reply today stating that it doesn’t mention the cake slices I ordered being gluten free, so therefore they won’t refund me!! So now I’ll have to throw them away, as my husband is unable to eat cake at the moment due to health problems. I suppose I could find someone to gift them to, but I’ve lost the money and lost the gift too. I will never ever use this company again and I will advise my mum and mother in law not to use them either. Their customer service is clearly non-existent. Awful.

We completely understand how alarming it must have been to discover that the cake slices you received contained wheat when you believed you had ordered gluten free ones. We're very glad that you checked the labels before gifting them, and we're sorry that this left you without the gift you had carefully chosen for your son's teacher.
Having thoroughly reviewed your order, we can only see that our standard cake slices were selected. All of our Cake Card slices are displayed together on one page, with our gluten free options clearly identified both within the product title and with a gluten free banner. During checkout, we also provide a basket summary so customers can review the items they've selected before completing their purchase, followed by an order confirmation email detailing the final order and inviting customers to get in touch should anything not look right or require amending before dispatch.
From everything we've been able to investigate, it appears that the standard slices were selected during the ordering process through an honest mistake, rather than any change being made by our system, as this isn't something that can occur after an order has been placed. At no stage were we made aware that the order needed to be gluten free; had we known this, we would of course have ensured it received the care and attention that dietary requirements always deserve.
Whilst we fulfilled the order exactly as it was received, meaning it isn't eligible for a refund, we completely appreciate how disappointing this has been. We know that mistakes can happen, and that's why our team has already offered, as a gesture of goodwill, to send replacement Cake Card slices in your chosen gluten free flavours directly to your recipient at no cost.
Should you have changed your mind, we'd still be more than happy to honour that offer. Please don't hesitate to get back in touch with our Customer Experience Team. We'd love the opportunity to ensure your recipient receives some delicious gluten free slices after all.
UPDATE 27/07:
To clarify, you were not offered any incentive to amend your review.
As a gesture of goodwill, you had already been offered a free replacement before your review was submitted. At no stage was this offer conditional upon changing or removing your review. You were simply asked to consider updating it so that it accurately reflected the resolution that had already been provided, and transparency towards the entire situation, which is that at no stage did you make us aware that your order was to be Gluten Free.
We welcome genuine, honest feedback, whether positive or negative. However, we cannot agree with a version of events that is factually incorrect and misrepresents what actually occurred.
Given the repeated lack of cooperation throughout this matter, together with the unacceptable language directed towards members of our team, we have taken the decision that we will no longer be able to supply you in the future. We sincerely wish you all the best and hope you are able to find an alternative supplier that better meets your expectations and requirements.

Ordered a cake on 12/7/2026 for a birthday party tomorrow (21/7/2026).
The advice on their site was to order it to be delivered the day before, which I did. Ie today 20/7/2026. On 17/7/2026 I received an email to say it was on its way.
I reached out about this as I was worried due to that being a Friday and I didn't need it until the Tues (and had already accepted it would be a day early) so to have it posted out 5 days prior to it being eaten I thought would result in it being dry. I was told it hadn't actually been posted and that it was just the label that had been done.
Therefore, I expected delivery today. I hadn't had an email so I checked the tracking info earlier today and it now says it will be tomorrow now ie the day it's needed.
I have again reached out to say that if it doesn't arrive by 3pm tomorrow then I no longer need it and I will have to buy one from a supermarket, which is not ideal in the first place. As I will be leaving the house to go to the party.
I have just received an unsatisfactory reply which seems to imply it's my fault and I should have ordered it for the day before (I did) and that if it is one day late they will refund just the postage.
I have told them this is not acceptable as if or doesn't arrive by 3pm it is no good.
So hopefully it will arrive and I don't have to rush about for a replacement cake. If not, I expect a full refund and they can have the cake back. Either way I wont be ordering again. I have used a few times in the past and I was giving it another go but wish I hadn't bothered.
**Edit 21/7/26 after their reply. You can see for yourself that they are still refusing to refund it if arrives today after the required time of 3pm, despite me explaining I will need to buy another cake en route to the party and will not be in to accept or refuse delivery after that time. Will never use again.
It arrived after I had left for the party at 5pm** originally gave 2 stars, now reduced to 1 due to unsatisfactory reply**

These policies are clearly outlined on our website and are designed to ensure every customer is treated equally.
As such, whilst I fully appreciate your disappointment, we are unable to make exceptions or offer refunds outside of the terms of our policy, regardless of the strength of feeling expressed.
