The software routinely freezes. When this happens I have to shut down my computer.

I've used ScreenPal/Screencast-O-Matic for more than 9 years, but I'm looking for an alternative.

I used ScreenPal for a presentation project, and it made the whole process super easy. Editing my video was a breeze, even though I’m not very experienced with video editing. Trimming clips, adding captions, and polishing the overall video was really simple and didn’t take much time at all. My favorite part was the virtual backgrounds. Being able to swap out my messy background for something more professional really helped. It was super easy to use, and the options were great without being overwhelming. If you’re looking for a screen recorder, or video editor that’s easy to work with and gets the job done, I’d definitely recommend ScreenPal.

ScreenPal's screen recorder is one of the best I've used. Easy, flexible, and built-in editing that makes it simple to create effective training videos. Plus the new AI captions and chapters are huge time savers. This is a really affordable, everyday tool which is a must-have for anyone creating videos for onboarding, training, and knowledge sharing.

Not only does ScreenPal provide excellent screen recording and video editing, but a whole host of other neat tools. Whether you want to host videos with them, or share elsewhere they have you covered. Additionally their screenshot tool is a lifesaver. Would highly recommend.

I've been using ScreenPal almost daily at work for several years now, and have been very happy with the product. Easy to use, intuitive interface, and works great on my laptop and phone. I record and edit product demos and product marketing videos, and the video editing tools are very easy to use, and make editing quick. I love the new AI features they've introduced for adding captions, they're accurate and super easy to edit when I need to. Saves me a lot of time!

This is a very cheap and effective software compared to their competitors. I have made a whole course using ScreenPal. I started using it when it was Screencastomatic years ago, and it has saved me well.

What happened to ScreenPal? I used to love this for recording my screen, now the audio is sporadic or just results in a hiss. I've wasted hours of my life trying to get a decent result, hopeless. Sad to say I can no longer recommend.

This simply has to be the worst software I have ever installed onto a PC in my life. Constant glitches, sporadically picks up the audio whenever it feels like, without even giving you any warning, ruining countless recordings. Even when you try to narrate over footage after the event, the software then does not pick up your equipment when searching. It is completely useless, and so are the support staff, who do not get back to you when you raise a ticket. Please do not waste your money

I was a total fan of Screen-Casto-Matic and used it with ease in global business for a number of years. Returning to video content creation I upgraded to Screenpal Premiere. Fair enough, company takeover, pricing and feature changes... But in the last week I've wasted nearly 2 days on videos where the screen recording freezes before the end of the video (thanks so much) meaning I'm only left with audio at a point I can't detect until I edit. Don't ask about the lack of clarity on what's saved, or where... Not my pal, very far from it. Seamless UX and TTV might be an idea, guys!

I liked the ScreenCastOMatic product. The new Screen Pal is my screen enemy. I'm leaving it. Interface is so unintuitive, it's ridiculous. Why they changed what they did I will never know. But nothing works as it should, and it's hard to find anything. They blew a chance to improve already good product and ruined it.

I have been using ScreenPal, when their older name was Screen Cast, way back from 2012 and I am one very satisfied customer with this great product.
I love using ScreenPal for capturing, creating and enhancing all my videos before uploading YouTube directly from the platform.

I have used ScreenPal for a few years with complete satisfaction. The app is user-friendly and offers many tools to fulfill the needs of both beginners and advanced users.

I've been using many apps like ScreenPal in the past to build tutorials and webinars for my students to find ScreenPal, my defacto application, to create stunning videos quickly.

The video editor is easy and fun to use, even though I'd prefer an interface more geared toward professional usage, but this is a matter of personal taste.

The interactive buttons and links are compelling and desirable as a business tool, and you can embed your videos with a minimalist player with your brand in mind.

A Call-To-Action CTA is a feature not easily found in applications at this price range, so this is one of the most attractive offerings of ScreenPal as a video creation tool.

Used with third-party tools such as Adobe Audition for Audio editing and enhancement, you will find ScreenPal to be your best friend. I like that you can import your music tracks and sound effects!

My only complaint is that video can't be exported with the .WebM and .mov file formats, but this is a minor caveat overcome with video conversion tools.

Ensure your system is optimized for SecreenPal and similar programs to avoid frustration and giving a bad review based on poor system performance/optimization, most notably under MS Windows.

This software is so buggy. Used it during COVID when they were Screen-cast-O-Matic and did the job. Since then, they've changed their name and their software.

I LITERALLY spent an hour every recording trying to get it to work... as an experienced user with it. Buggy. Sometimes it doesn't open. Sometimes won't recognize camera. Sometimes delete and re-download required. on and on

I feel so ripped off. I hope and pray someone reads this.

Don't waste your money:
1) This software is so crappy and useless that I just used it a couple of times. It makes the computer to crash, and the recording is not reliable. I had to redo the recordings several times. What a monumental waste of time!
2) Unfortunately, the licence auto-renewal was somewhat hidden and I kept paying for it against my will years later. I just realize now that I paid USD 19.70 for 4 years for nothing.
Licence auto-renewal is not ethical. It should be opt-in by default, not opt-out.

Absolutely horrible program. Absolutely horrible. Buggy. It takes 20 minutes to start the program and 20 minutes to close. What happens is that you click once and wait for 1 minute and still the program doesn't load and so you obviously click on it more and you do so and more and 10 windows open up and thus computer hangs.

It is extremely inefficient and buggy. If I have a Youtube music background on, it basically renders it useless. Thoroughly dislike this program. What's the point of it if it is too clunky and doesn't work?

Also, can I just please have what I really asked for? Please? Is it too much to ask? All I want is a screen recorder. Not some frills and bells and whistles and other filligrees making it a full fledged editor. Hence it explains why it takes gazillion years to load and close.

Seriously. I miss the good ol 80s and 90s, where the software was robust, never crashed and did what it asked for. Nowadays, all these unnecessary add-ons and glitzy, cutesy ancilliary widgets and bells and whistles makes a modern software COMPLETELY useless just like Wondershare Filmora, Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF and other Microsoft Apps like Photos. Modern software is incredibly horrible in design, UI as well as efficiency. (On the other hand platform like Upwork (which has its own flaws) makes sure there platform is as robust as a steel and never crashes. It has to. Or else there would be no business.)

Don' get me wrong. I appreciate the add-ons like copyright free music (oh don't bother many videos get copyright strike cuz of the music but it wont affect your channel).

Programmers apparently think everyone has T1 internet connection or Cray supercomputer at home. They never beta tested it to see what would happen on an average user's computer?

It takes 400 hours just to make a 2 second video. Why bother?

Terrible experiencia

It routinely freezes and makes me lose 10+ minutes of my work. The UI sucks. I cannot find things that I need, especially post-recording, even though I have used it routinely for years now. Whenever there's an update, I never know whether it will work or will it mess up my computer. I hate this app so, so much, but my work forces me to use it. Who's gonna give me minutes and hours of my life wasted using this piece of junk, ScreenPal, huh?
