This ai academic platform seems attractive at first but the problems appeared in only a few hours.
You have a limited number of credits, even with most expensive subscription, and the AI will burn through this in hours if you're not careful. The AI kept writing reports and summaries I hadn't asked for, charging me hundreds of credits each time. Upload a set of guidelines to follow, and the AI automatically generates a compliance report I hadn't asked for. I even expressly said don't perform any action unless I specifically request it, and it did it anyway.
I was only looking for advice on how to tailor and expand a systematic literature review and the AI just went ahead and tried to re-write the entire review - something I wanted to do myself. I can't see the finished product as it used all my credits on something. There is no transparency in how those credits are used and the system will not answer questions on how those credits are used or what a specific action will cost. It seems the default position of the AI is to waste credits and therefore money, while producing nothing of value. I would avoid and go with a more ethical platform.

I had a very positive experience using SciSpace, as it is extremely helpful for research and academic work. The platform is user-friendly and easy to navigate, especially for first-time users like me. I accidentally subscribed to the annual plan instead of the monthly one due to confusion, but the team is very responsive and accommodating in addressing my concern. Overall, it is a great tool, and I am planning to continue using it under the correct monthly plan.

Scispace's pricing page is titled, "Simple and transparent pricing." This is false advertisement and a complete lie. You pay for a certain number of credits per month, but there's no description anywhere of how many credits different tasks will cost. I reached out, because that page has vague estimates, but it says, "Costs shown are illustrative, extrapolated from current credit packages. Actual credit consumption may change based on your query." I emailed them for clarity, and they sent me the same page and they said, "I understand how not having a clear estimate can make it feel unpredictable." It doesn't FEEL unpredictable. It IS unpredictable. I'm really sick of this wording that more and more AI companies are using to gaslight users. It's unbelievable for a company to expect you to use their product, but they can't tell you how much it will cost you, so you have no idea how to plan your usage.

This is my first time using this program, but everything seems to be going well so far, and it has helped me a lot with my studies. Thank you.

This AI research tool is one of the most helpful tools I have ever worked with, and another good point about the tool is its online support which is really supportive and quick.

I used SciSpace for more than a year during my master’s studies. It helped me a lot in understanding academic articles and saved me a significant amount of time. It was the right choice and supported me throughout my studies, especially during my thesis. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, particularly master’s and PhD students. it was a very quick and straightforward process

The product was useful for my research. I used it to quickly identify relevant journal articles and I appreciated how it had Zotero integration. When I forgot to cancel the subscription they accommodated me without having to. I recommend their service

The system blocked me due to a late payment. They wouldn't upgrade me to a cheaper plan. Customer support was quick to help. It was a pleasure, thank you.

On 24 November 2025, I sent an email to your technical support department detailing a series of problems I had encountered with your application Scispace. One of the searches I performed returned a set of references that were incorrect, and the accompanying statements were also inaccurate.

On 9 December 2025, I wrote again to the support department to explain that, in addition to these issues, I was facing another serious problem. I was preparing a grant application that required intensive reference searching and therefore significant use of your service. However, despite having paid for credits for the entire year, once I had used the credits allocated for that month I was unable to perform any further searches unless I purchased additional credits.

I consider this situation abusive. A more reasonable approach would be to allow clients to use their credits on an annual basis rather than restricting them to monthly allocations. There may be months when I need your services extensively and others when I barely need them at all. In my view, the current policy represents poor business practice and should be reconsidered.

I explained in my previous message that, otherwise, I would be forced to cancel my subscription for next year and, naturally, any reviews I leave on forums or other platforms would not be positive, as I believe this policy unfairly penalises your clients.

I received at that point a reply stating that my query would be forwarded to the appropriate department, but I have not received any further response since then. As you can imagine, I am very dissatisfied with your service. In addition to the errors and incorrect information provided, your business model appears abusive and does not benefit your clients.

For all these reasons, I cannot recommend the use of your application.
