I want to start by saying this is…
I want to start by saying this is factual feedback based on my experience with University of Phoenix.
I started University of Phoenix back in 2023 and it was paid through my employer. I was able to complete my Associate’s Degree in Information technology and was almost done with my bachelor’s in data science then my employer discontinued tuition assistance. Since I was now responsible for the tuition, I had major concerns related to the cost of education and the platforms they used for learning.
I’d frequently reach out to my student advisor about a particular learning platform that was not user friendly. The labs were awful and would lag where someone in the IT department told me that on certain days, that was the expected behavior because of the number of people using it. We also couldn’t copy anything from the online guide. I am a full-time working student using a computer for classes and not being able to copy anything from the guide for my notes was absolutely insane. I could copy notes from the guide using platform zy***** but ucer****. I refused to take out a student loan for that continued experience.
I tried to do an official withdrawal from the University of Phoenix but couldn’t because of a medical leave I had to end. I would send emails asking for help on this and they kept telling me to talk to an advisor for next steps. I also kept getting emails from an advisor about returning to class and scolding me on not using prior assignments like I didn’t already know that. I had to do an unofficial withdrawal because they made the process so difficult.
I’ve transferred to another university’s online flex program which allows me to work at my own pace. University of Phoenix should review the platforms they have and when a student in data science or other technology programs mention a problem, the student paying the school should get a resolution. Working adults should also not have to post weekly where there is no benefit to learning anything and most of the posts are written by AI.

An Amazing Educational Journey
My experience with the University of Phoenix has been truly amazing and incredibly rewarding. UOP has played a significant role in my educational and professional journey. I began by earning my Associate degree in Accounting, continued on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and I am now proud to be graduating on November 21 with my MBA.
What makes my experience even more meaningful is that my journey with the University of Phoenix is not ending with my MBA. I have made the decision to continue my education by pursuing my Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).
Throughout my time at UOP, I have appreciated the flexibility of the programs, the support I have received, and the opportunity to balance my education with my professional and personal responsibilities. Each degree has challenged me to grow academically, professionally, and personally. More importantly, I have been able to take what I have learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world situations in my career.
I am extremely proud of how far I have come. From earning my associate degree to preparing to graduate with my MBA and now taking the next step toward my doctorate, this journey represents years of hard work, commitment, perseverance, and personal growth.
I am truly grateful for my experience with the University of Phoenix and would recommend UOP to working professionals and others who are serious about continuing their education while managing the many responsibilities of everyday life.
Thank you, University of Phoenix, for being such an important part of my journey. I am excited about what comes next as I continue toward earning my DBA!
Graduate Student Experience
The flexibility of education, vast professional and academic knowledge of instructors such as Michael Hudson, and affordability creates such a great experience at University of Phoenix.
I love my experience
I love my experience. I am being challenged to think outside the norms. I am learning new curriculum and I am expanding on curriculum that I’ve been previously exposed to.
Great
It is nice to be able to further my education while working and being a mom
Refined Leadership
I especially valued the professor’s purposeful instruction, which connected leadership theory to complex realities. Learning alongside an accomplished group of professionals enriched each discussion and fostered meaningful exchanges of experience, perspective, and scholarship. The combination of rigorous instruction and peer insight made the course both intellectually challenging and highly relevant to my continued development.
Thank you - but no thank you - I'm not coming back.
To be honest, it's been a bit of hit and miss along the way. I love the University of Phoenix, I love the program and the cadence, and what it affords us as students (the opportunity to attend college while working full-time and that we can earn our degrees). This program, though, has been an eye-opener and sadly, not in a way that I think you'll appreciate.
Every class is inundated with >80% of students submitting AI-generated responses to discussion questions, and the same mundane replies AI can formulate. When a class of 29 students writes replies, and 12 of them are all about the same company, something is wrong. That just screams academic fraud is running rampant throughout the classrooms.
I took it upon myself to capture EVERY DQ post and reply from classes 1 through 9, and the results are quite astounding: over 75% of the student body has used AI in their participation postings while at the university.
Who knows what kind of AI-generated materials are being submitted as far as summative assignments are concerned? That leads one to wonder what grades the students are receiving, and whether they are valid or simply the result of submitting AI-generated work.
What's worse? When the instructors use AI to draft replies and grade papers. It doesn't feel like we're getting our money's worth; we're simply paying six-week installment payments just to purchase a piece of paper with the University of Phoenix's letterhead and embossing on it.
I have had the privilege of discussing my concerns with Katherine Uhles of the University, and she is well aware of them. However, in her replies, it was conveyed that the University did not conclude that the instructors violated minimum faculty requirements. Dean Uhles acknowledged legitimate opportunities to improve grading feedback and classroom engagement and agreed to review my examples further. She also clarified that University policy imposes significant restrictions on faculty use of AI and requires suspected student AI misuse to be handled privately through established procedures. The underlying concern throughout my correspondence is that inconsistent faculty engagement and extensive AI use could undermine the educational experience and perceived value of the MBA program, but I truly feel that nothing will come of this, and all of this was just wasted keystrokes on a keyboard.
While I had toyed with returning to the University of Phoenix for a Master of Science in Information Technology, the latest experience has soured me enough to decide I won't return to the University of Phoenix once my degree is completed at the end of December, in large part due to the zero enforcement of AI-generated work being submitted by the students of the University of Phoenix. It just feels like, why bother? The University just wants the money at the end of the day, and they don't really care that >80% of the student body are just faking their way along, completing the tasks with GPT, CoPilot, or whatever AI engine they use, and as long as they meet the timelines and obligations, they get what they want, and the university gets the money.
Win - Win? Perhaps, but not in my eyes. Thanks.

The UOPX program is tailor-made for me
The UOPX program is tailor-made for me. It’s structured so each course leads into the next, and each week focuses on important issues that prepare me for more challenging (Math) subjects. I am halfway through and feel confident of succeeding with my associate's degree after many years.

very learning and helpful , especially with parents with busy lives
The classes are perfect, but
The classes are perfect! It's the counselors. I'm a veterans and the service officers have nooo clue about anything and constantly gives conflicting information, which leaves the veteran in a battle between them and the VA

University of phoenix online has been the most helpful, easy to navigate, fun and interactive school I've found. They are so great that I am going back for a bachelor degree and I've recommended them to everyone I know that might be looking into going back to school. I'm blessed and very thankful I found the university of Phoenix for sure
Horrible experience
It’s a
Money grab. I had to take a leave of absence and your making me pay for the course twice when I have not even completed the course yet I’m on 2 weeks into it.
Not to mention all the courses that don’t have anything to do with my degree.
