Place was great very spacious and peaceful and super close to everything.

This is a review for American Patriot Getaways as a company as well as the Wild Turkey Lodge. Upon arrival into Pigeon Forge, someone in our family received a call from their office stating that our cabin was out of service due to septic issues - Hickernut Lodge. We were asked to come to the office to discuss. Delaying our plans of check in, we spent an hour or so being told it was a busy season and were offered two of the only cabins they had available with a split stay (moving 14 people after just two nights). It was stressful to say the least, we lost our first night of vacation trying to figure out what to do. We went to the first cabin- (Wild Turkey Lodge) offered to us as we had no where else to go at this point. It was out into the woods quite a ways back with no cell service or working wifi. The cabin had the toilets taped shut and there was a significant amount of dirt on the furniture. Our bedroom pillows were covered in dirt from the ceiling or insulation above. Our closet had mold on the shelving that stored the extra pillows and blankets. The bedding was unusable on our bed- we removed it. The kids bunk’s had dirt and cobwebs above and a very nasty brown stain on the mattress cover- so gross! They slept on couches and uses their own blankets. We luckily secured a cabin through VRBO for the remainder of our vacation - but lost one evening and partial next day of vacation moving again. Yes, we were refunded the amount we paid in full- but they did not “GIVE US” anything! We contacted American Patriot Getaways after we got home to discuss the additional fees we incurred through VRBO having to switch cabins on a moment’s notice during a very busy season, with 14 people in our family- they then accused us of a “shakedown” ?? But it gets worse, because while trying to provide feedback to the public about our experience, the management staff begins insulting us in email and responses here and saying don’t come back! So let me get this straight? This company didn’t do proper upkeep on these cabins causing us to be displaced and staying in an unsanitary and some would argue unsafe environment, due to the mold issue. We become discouraged, upset, stressed as to what to do and then refused to settle for their so called “solution” that didn’t accommodate our large party and we are somehow the problem?? We lost precious vacation time with our loved ones over dealing with this. We paid extra to find something else due to their inability to manage properties that can actually be utilized and then get insulted by management for speaking out. This is the most rude, childish, outlandish response from a General Manager of a hospitality business that I’ve ever seen. We were the customer, we were displaced due to their negligence, we have every right to speak up and we WILL encourage friends and family to book elsewhere. Having worked forty years in the business sector, this is the most unprofessional and unapologetic company I have ever dealt with!

This is in regards to Melissa H and Roy P’s reviews of our vacation experience recently. I have never in my life been so disrespected by a business in my life. You can’t complain about their accommodations or how they basically did nothing for your inconvenience, loss of a vacation day, or added stress, because they attack your personal character. They are so unprofessional. To have the nerve to say that we were trying to do a shake down for more money, that we have an ugly disposition, and not to come back. They showed no empathy for us whatsoever. To say we should have contacted them to have the cabin cleaned. We had no service and the cabin should have been cleaned before they sent us there. We had several disinfectant wipes turn black from cleaning the kitchen table and the coffee table had an inch of dirt on it. The cabin was as dirty as the way we have been treated before and after our stay. Don’t worry, we will take our future business elsewhere.

This review is a continuation of Melissa H.'s. I understand things happen. We were cancelled 20 minutes before check in. We spent 6+ hours on the road & were quite tired & cranky. The option that was given to us was very subpar. That building had not been used for awhile, as it was quite filthy with cobwebs through out & dirty. Especially for the money that was paid! It was in a desolate area with a view of the woods. They expected us to spend a couple of nights here & then pack up 14 people (some of who were kids) and move across town for the remainder 3 nights. They did try to accommodate us, but it wasn't feasible. The lady at the office was trying to fix what was handed to her. The place that Melissa H. had found just so happened to have a place in our time frame & a few dollars more. There was a night and day difference between the two. I'd advise you to check ratings & the reviews!! There are quite a few negative ones, majority of them for the same issue, lack of cleaning. Unfortunately, pictures can be deceiving! We've been going to the Smokies for a number of years and this cabin was the worst! I should add that it's not very professional to be rude via emails from the general manager. Or to tell someone to, "We encourage you to secure other accommodation when you return to the Smoky Mountains." I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU TAKE THIER ENCOURAGEMENT TO FIND OTHER ACCOMODATIONS! Also, there wasn't an attempt to" shake down of your company for more money". *Why is it that they answered our posts, but not the other negative ones? Basically the same complaints. It's amazing that you go to their web page and they have 100+ pages of 4 & 5 star ratings, but this page says different. Hmmm

BEWARE!!! Rent somewhere else!! Thirty mins before check in our party of 14 was contacted and told our cabin was out of service due to sewage backup! With no place to go, we met at the office to discuss our options! The BEST they could do was to offer a split cabin vacation where we could stay in one cabin for two nights then pack up and move to another location for the remainder of our stay. Obviously not ideal with 14 people but we took the first cabin they offered us to kind of regroup and sort things out! The Wild Turkey Lodge was in a remote location with little to no cell service or Wi-Fi signal. The place was very dirty, bedding disgusting, mold in the closets where the extra blankets were stored, bugs inside. We had to clean before we could sit down at the table!! We opted to find our own rental through VRBO and requested a complete refund for the cabin rental from American Patriot Getaways. Not only did they screw us on our original rental, they second cabin was not much better! Neither option poses to us had the amenities we had originally requested! To say it was a disappointment is an understatement! Save yourselves a lot of hassle and stress and book with Timber Tops or somewhere else!! Our experience with Timber Tops was excellent and a complete 100% improvement over our experience with American Patriot Getaways!

I stayed in a cabin on honeymoon garden road the “rock and roll cabin”. I went to bed woke up the next morning and had bites all over me didn’t think anything of it but the second night I woke up covered in bites and I looked at the pillow and there was a bed bug I was disgusted then I looked more around the bed and they were on the head board they where on the bottom of the bed and I looked at the other pillow and there was old blood and hair on it….

Stayed in hummingbird views, very clean, beautiful view, breath taking sunsets. This was our second time at hummingbird views, seen a hummingbird and we seen a bear at the cabin.

Where do I begin. My family rented Grill & Chill from June12 to June 22 and it was a HORROR!!! Upon arriving we were greeted by Two PITBULLS running on the property that live next door which is a filthy dirty trailer home with garbage all around. We could not use the outside since we had a six month old with us and a small Morkie dog which we were terrified of being attacked by the pitbulls from the moment we arrived. I called Patriot Getaways RIGHT BEFORE WE ATTEMPTED TO UNLOAD THE CAR AND THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS. They told us they couldn't do anything about the neighbors or their dogs and that I should call animal control. The cabin was filthy, ants everywhere, floors sagging and broken, smelled, garbage on front porch and all in back by the hot tub. Red plastic cups and empty bottle of palmolive around hot tub. Kitchen table falling apart, cabinets all sticky, food still in the dishwasher, Hot as Hell upstairs in the bedroom. Live roach upstairs. Dead ants in the kitchen cabinets and live ones all throughout the cabin. Maintenance came out and took pictures of the garbage to show Patriot but never cleaned it up. Ten days later garbage still there, they had to bring three box fans for the upstairs which was Noisy as Hell and couldn't sleep. Exterminator came two days later and sprayed outside but didn't help. Stove was filthy, refrigerator was rusted, dishes were chipped and not even enough forks or spoons to eat with. I had to clean the cabinets and counters myself just to survive the nightmare. We paid THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A HANDYMAN SPECIAL which was advertised as a Deluxe Cabin. Patriot Getaways could care less and didn't even have a link for us to leave a review. Loud music blasting from the neighbors at 2AM FROM THEIR CARS I THINK. THE VIEW FROM THE BEDROOM WINDOW WAS TRASH, CAR TIRES, EMPTY BOTTLES, COMPLETE FILTH. AND BEFORE YOU TRY AND SAY THAT I HAVE THE WRONG PLACE, I DON'T. THIS WAS BOOKED UNDER MY DAUGHTERS NAME AND I HAVE THE RIGHT INFORMATION IN THIS REVIEW. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE TO HELP US AND SUPPOSEDLY THERE WERE NO OTHER CABINS TO MOVE US TO. SO IF YOU WANT TO PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR A HANDYMAN HORROR THEN THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU.

Hickernut Lodge - this lodge has a lot going for it in size and amenities but the furniture and window treatments need serious repair/updating. The bed frame in the master bedroom was broken causing a horrible squeaking making sleep difficult. The furniture in the main living area on the second floor is dirty and broken. The windows in the front (street) facing bedrooms on both floors need blackout curtains and the main living area need new window treatments that can be opened to let light in. Since the cabin doesn’t have any view or private deck, most of the time is spent indoors so the accommodations need to be updated and repaired to ensure repeat business.

From the moment we arrive, I could tell that I did not want to stay in this cabin any length of time. We arrived on a Friday night late, and as soon as I opened the door the filth hit you in the face. This cabin is called Smokey's Serenity on Pleasures Road. This cabin obviously has not been cleaned in some time. Cobwebs in every corner of every window with spiders. The downstairs windows had dead lady bugs by the hundreds. The bathroom curtain upstairs had obvious pee stains on it, the drain didn't work, and the toilet that had the " I have been cleaned strip" had in fact not been cleaned. There was dried urine with hair when you lifted the lid. The downstairs TV had 4 remotes which none of them had batteries. The mold in the washer, you could smell before even opening the closet doors. Couldn't operate 2/3 TV's, Dirty dishes placed back in the cabinets. Fire pit advertised, did not have a propane tank attached so could not be used nor could the porch furniture, cloth cushions were beyond dirty, they were gross gray. The number of bugs and spiders in the house were unbelievable. I'm sure the kitchen window that did not close correctly was a contributing factor. The bedroom off of the kitchen, the fire alarm beeped like the battery was low, well with further investigation, there wasn't a battery in it (safety issue) The dust on the ceiling fan was layers deep and was easy to see due to the loft being eye level with the fan. The views of the mountains/lake from inside were little to none because the windows were so dirty you couldn't see a thing. The picnic table on the front lawn was leveled with rocks that were found around the house (safety issue). The driveway was so steep, that I wouldn't recommend a car for this driveway. Definitely 4-wheel drive or larger SUV. If you are wanting a relaxing weekend or week vacation, use another company. Do further research and find a company that actually inspects their cabins and uses an amazing cleaning service. For the amount of money they charge for cleaning and the cabin rental , it is not worth. Just say NO and look elsewhere.

We stayed in a cabin that the hot tub that didn't heat up and leaked prior to us arriving, had dirty filters that myself and cleaning lady cleaned,had mice droppings in the closets,cabinets where utensils-silverware are,in cabinets where pots and pans are,Cobwebs on the ceilings,dust on the tvs, tables and bathroom.Needless to say rodents are expected when in a mountain outdoor environment but for a place that wasn't cleaned prior to vacationers arrival is appalling for a company to supposedly have high standards. So after contacting American patriot getaways office,they did have another cleaning lady come out who did an excellent job,an exterminator who set traps,and then maintenance who was clueless on the repair of the hot tub so after the third day a separate hot tub tech who came out and repaired the non heating tub. The tub was leaking but not aware until after the heating problem was resolved so another call to office and another visit from maintenance who could not repair the leak and supposedly someone else would have to come make the repair who never came. Office claimed the cabin hadn't been stayed in a week so more or less that was the excuse for it not being cleaned,a health problem due to the mouse droppings all in the eating area. An issue that could of been resolved by just doing regular maintenance, and Cleaning prior to someone showing up for a weeks vacation. I'm sure others have had good stays with this company but this was our experience which was terrible and unexcusable. Avoid staying with some company without doing research cause this could be your child's health concern let alone your own.

My sister and I stayed at 2 Crazy Cubs cabin for the week of 4/29/22 until 5/6/22 and absolutely loves it. The cabin is beautiful, loved the location and it was quiet. we met the owners they are very nice and helpful. We will definitely stay at this cabin again next year.

Secluded Pleasure not quite as it was advertised...No level parking, its a winding steep driveway. No stereo or firestick, and fireplaces we were so looking forward to were cut off. The couch does not fold out to a bed, but the hard uncomfortable little futon, does. It has very dark and drab lighting, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. Needed a flashlight to see to do laundry, no joke. Had to wash towels daily. In the evening, no one could sit in the recliner due to the sun coming in and no way to shade it and in the morning the light coming in the bedroom wakes us up early. The uninviting small living room area has small tv, and the little kitchen is okay. The uncomfortable chairs don't match and one wobbles at the little table. One tiny closet in the bedroom with 5 hangers and no dresser drawers anywhere! It is nice and close to town and there is pizza delivery, so that is helpful. Advertized for 4, but It can not fit 4 people comfortable at all! The only thing nice in the loft is the little extra bathroom and the pool table, because there is no cable tv up there and no comfortable seats at all. It is not child friendly here, as the unsafe porch has broken wood leaving a large gap. I asked about extra seats outside because there is only 2 and was told I could carry out kitchen chairs. There is no nice view. However, The huge soft bed, the small private hot tub, the jacuzzi tub, the small soft couch, and big recliner, are very good amenities though. In Secluded Pleasure cabin, advertised "rustic" means bring your own potholders, extra towels, non stick pans, bathroom rug, dresser drawers, firestick stick, and a fold up table and chairs, if you want to use the tiny grill and eat out there on the uncovered little deck and flashlights to see to do laundry. Honestly, Secluded Pleasure needs to be advertised as a honeymoon cabin for 2 with a 2 day limit, unless you don't mind laying clothes on the floor, or the back of the couch, or maybe folded on the table. For $948.00, it's the least comfort we have ever received in a cabin and we have been coming every year for many years.

I would not even give them a single star if that were an option. My made a one night reservation just to get away from the day to day route for our anniversary. We got lost, called for help and the customer service person said I have no idea where you are and was pretty useless for directions. Then once we finally fou d our cabin the front screen door was literally broken and falling apart, the feont door knob was loose and falling off, the porch rafters were rotting as was some of the front pourch, there was a single wide trailer right in the front yard, and it was more like a "tiny house" vs a small cabin. The floors were cracked and it was just awful. We called back to see about getting a different cabin and after being on hold for 20 minutes a woman answered the phone and was very unhelpful. She insinuated that we were unable to afford their other cabins "as there is a big difference in price and class". So we choose to get a refund and for $50 more we were able to find a MUCH NICER LUXERY CABIN with a different company. After 17 years of renting cabins this was hands down the WORST experience we have ever had. DON'T USE THEM.

Pot O Gold cabin is more like Pot O Stench! A group of 14 stayed in the Pot O Gold cabin this past weekend & will never ever again rent from Patriot. The fact that Patriot still has this cabin in their fleet is shocking. The cabin would be beautiful…with lots of TLC. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the smell. The sulphur water smell was unbearable & we hadn’t ran water yet. Once the water started running, it became even worse. Everyone gagged while showering & we resorted to using bottled water for teeth brushing. Even with windows open, the smell was horrible (the screens didn’t fit in half the windows either!).
There wasn’t any Wifi & phone service was super spotty. We had issues with Verizon & T-Mobile. There is a landline but it will not make long distance calls & we could not find a store that sells long distance calling cards.
The hot tub didn’t heat up & the jets didn’t work so it was used for a total of 1 hour for our 4 day trip. Plus who would want to sit in the nasty smelling sulphur water?!
The “theater room” was a joke. The leather on the reclining chairs was worn off & there was a sign that said they COULD NOT recline.
The deck needs major attention. We made sure to have shoes on at all times due to fear of splinters. And there were multiple boards that weren’t level. There were even a couple of balusters that weren’t attached to the deck.
The cabin floors could be beautiful if they were sanded down & refinished. Some light fixtures were missing bulbs, had burnt out or mismatched bulbs (think yellow & white light). There were missing towel racks & not all bedroom doors closed all the way or latched. Again, some TLC would go a long way.
We did call for maintenance on our second day to complain about the sulphur smell, a broken shower head & the hot tub not working. Maintenance did fix the shower head & claimed to fix the hot tub (we didn’t use it to verify the fix). They also said they flushed the lines & changed a filter that should help with the smell. Unfortunately, once we started running water again, the smell quickly returned. They offered a 25% discount off a future stay but most of the time there are better specials running on their website so we felt like this was useless to us.
About the only highlight of the cabin is the fact that we saw 3 bears from the deck. The mattresses were comfortable but the bed frames squeaked with every move. The closets were nice size.
This trip was in celebration of a 60th birthday. We truly wish that the cabin would’ve been in better shape so our trip could’ve been more enjoyable.

Doesn’t recommend staying at any of there rentals! All not being cleaned properly and crawling with bedbugs customer service doesn’t care they hate their jobs and can’t wait to get out of there you will end up paying in full at the end!!!

If I could give zero stars I would. When I booked the Grill and Chill cabin I was told it was in Gatlinburg and it was not. There were ants in multiple rooms, air hockey table was so old we couldn't use because the puck didn't slide on the table. The foosball table was broke so we couldn't use. The pool table was in such a tight space that you couldn't play without hitting the wall with the stick. The chairs in the game room were so stained it was sick. The rocker outside was broke so we couldn't sit on it and when you walked in the kitchen it felt like you were going to fall through the floor. It rained during my stay so I couldn't use the hot tub since it was not under a covered porch. I spent over $300 a night for two nights. I spent one day of my vacation looking for a new place to stay so when I checked out and complained and asked for some of my money back they refused and only offered a coupon for my next stay. I would never stay with them again and do not recommend anyone else waste their money either. There are many other places to rent through. Their website for this cabin has all good reviews and when i asked how to write a review they said I couldn't. That tells me they only put good ones up to make people think it's a good cabin and it's not. Please people do not waste your money for this cabin or with American Patriot.

We stayed at the "Pool House" between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Cabin layout was nice but that was it. There was an infestation of lady bugs, they were everywhere. During the day they clung to the very high windows. At night they were on the light fixtures, crawling across the TVs and furniture. ( Exterminator never showed)

4.Living Room TV too high, too small, could not see due to sun light from ceiling glass window. Could barely read subtitles, too small and too high.

You pay a cleaning fee. You expect the cabin to be clean upon your arrival. This company doesn’t clean the cabins between visitors. They only refresh your towels and change sheets. Don’t expect clean linens or for anything else to be clean. Pool table was broken. The hot tub was old and didn’t work properly. The property wasn’t maintained at all. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. Hair from other visitors and their dog still on the floor. Black mold on the shower curtain. The bed was broken. The door to the bedroom wouldn’t shut because it was busted. The tub was cruddy on the sides and around fixtures. The toilet had a film and line on the toilet bowl. The mirror wasn’t cleaned. Blinds were broken and missing. There were dust bunnies in the corners on the floor with hair. I tried to call and couldn’t get ahold of anyone. Called the next day after checking out. I was told because I didn’t take time out of my vacation to run their people down over the phone all they could give me was a 25 percent off on my NEXT stay. Hahaha. I wouldn’t stay at this place if they gave me a free stay. Horrible customer service. False advertising of cabins. Poor property management. I recommend you skip this company. They know they already have your money and they can do whatever they want.

We stayed at Shiloh! The cabin had good qualities but the not so good outweighed the good! My siblings and I get together yearly for a Gatlinburg trip. We planned to spend a lot of time at the cabin and just visit because of covid. First, I know cabin roads can be hard to travel on but the gravel lane going to this cabin has big holes in it. What time the bottom of the vehicle wasn’t dragging we were spinning. One vehicle was a SUV and we still had problems. It needs grading!
The carpet is really, really dirty and worn. The lights are so dim in the upstairs bedroom you can’t see to get in and out of the tub.
We sat in the living room and watched mice climbing the kitchen table and running under the appliances. We had to throw out all our snacks the morning after we arrived because mice got in them on the kitchen table and pooped in them.
The tv in the living room will not stay on very long before it shuts off. The tv is important to our men. It was a huge aggravation.
The downstairs is the best place inside the entire cabin. The decks are all great and we did see bears three days out of four.
The cabin and driveway need major attention.
I called APG while we were there and left a message but they never returned my call. Disappointing!
